Blind tee shots
With the course layout and first timers, the staff in the pro shop, might have suggested a yardage book. I believe it was hole #5 that was a long distance from the rest of the course. There were some great back drop views, but if you don’t have a clue where to try to hit the ball, the scenery is diminished. I won’t say never to playing Wickenburg CC again, but there are a lot of courses we enjoy more.
Blind Shots
The staff in the pro shop is above average. Being first time players at Wickenburg CC, a yardage book would have been a nice suggestion. The staff in the lounge was very nice, she suggested a 6 pack for $2 more than four singles. The layout seems to be crammed on the property. Not bad, but you need to play the track a few times to figure it out. Then it seems like there might have been a miss count on the number of holes (17 instead of 18), because hole number 5 is by itself. Maybe a quarter mile or more, from #4 green to #5 tee, then the same from #5 green to #6 tee....just odd. There are some great back drop views, but too many blind tee shots for me to recommend this course. I won’t say, “I’ll never play this course again”, but there are so many courses I like more, why would I?
Oh....4 hour pace of play in February and March might be a reason to come back again. Something that you don't always get in the Phoenix Area.
Thank you for a second review. The golf course does have its quirks. Hole #5 being by itself is due to the property that was planned for a housing development...still working on that part.
Again, we would love to have you back out, and the next time we will be sure that you have a yardage guide in hand as you step onto the first tee!
Little disappointed
Heard so much about this course but overall was disappointed.
It was an hour's drive from Phoenix to get there.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Quality people.
Course is an odd layout. Lots of desert. Fairways and greens in good condition. Pace of play was so slow.
It was all a bit basic.
Not rushing back
Thank you for playing with us. We are sorry the course didn't meet you expectations. I am kind of surprised that you thought the course was easy. That is not usually what people think about the course. Hopefully you are willing to give us another shot and we can do better the next time.
Challenging course
Great course. Strategic Play. Need to play a few times to get to know course. Will be playing again.
A Rustic Challenge
Club selection & course management is HUGE! The course length is not the issue. It's hitting 3/5 wood when all u need is to keep the ball in play. Driver can stay in the bag more often than on an "open" course. U will need to play a few times to learn the sometimes extreme slopes on the green. The goes for somewhat blind tee shots. Overall, a fun experience w/very friendly personnel.
Poor communication from staff about high school practice and where paying customers were to play.
Amazing Course
One of our favorite places on earth... course in great shape, staff super friendly and was treated to some live music on the 19th hole.... Amazing Day.... thanks green keepers, club house staff, Joey and restaurant staff!!!
Challenging
A links style type of course. Very difficult if playing from the Blue Tees.
The driving range is set up in a horrible place. When teeing off the Blue tees you can hit a driving range player. Which one golfer in our group did.
Enjoyable Afternoon
We always come out to Wickenburg Country Club when we are in Arizona. The conditions have always been great and the course is very interesting and challenging if you cannot keep your shots straight. Whenever we play there has to be some spousal relief.
Beautiful Course
The course is in great condition. Each fairway is separate and has its own characteristics. If I have any negatives, it's that the greens are a little small. But there is lots of slope and challenge. A great day out there.
Awesome desert course!!
A great track in a nice town. Layout is unique. Every hole different and challenging. Beautiful scenery. Great value for the price we paid. Would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a game in this area
Love the elevated tees
Course in great condition, and always a challenge.
a must"play" two or three times a year
well worth the trip from Scottsdale.
The friendliest staff in Az, by far.
there are very few holes you won't have to work hard to par. Greens run true and the fairways are perfect. If you are not straight off the tees trouble will find you.
A fun restaurant with great food.
The OTHER Wickenburg!
What a treat! Blind tee shots! Sharp blind doglegs! Tee shot management special! Sinfully long par 3's! Two at over 220+ yards! And small greens to boot! Narrow fairway landing areas but generous in the dormant grass transition areas! I was only in one bunker and it was SOFT sand! Fried egg! Risk/reward on every hole! It's better to play this course from the tips even if you're a short knock like me; try taking advantage of the forward white tees and more trouble comes into play. Greens were slow; maybe 5/6 on the stemp; local terrain comes into play on the greens for sure. Very personable staff in the pro shop and restaurant! Good local folks! I'll be back for sure when it warms up!
Abc
This course is always a good value. A challenge to play, and fun

Thank you for giving us a shot. We do have yardage guides available and it was our mistake for not getting one to you. They are a huge help to first time players. We would love to have the opportunity to have you out again.
