Don't let the yardage fool you
Front nine is tight and challenging, iron shots off the tee worked best , back nine is not as tight. Play the blue tee and have some fun
,
Short drive
Very narrow course, great views and well kept. Thanks to the staff and friends had a great time. Played different courses in the past week and had the most fun here. Planning on playing this course again now that I know the layout, the green's are in great shape and the layout is timeless.
Skinny Fairways
This is the 2nd time I have played this course. Definitely a challenging course. Love the Elevation changes. Green were true. Fairways are sometimes a challenge to hit, so bring some extra balls. The only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars is a few areas were under repair. I'm sure this is a 5 star course in the winter! Great place to stop and play if you are on the way to Vegas from Phoenix!
Birds are signing
Beautiful with lots of trees for shade. You can hear birds signing every hole. Greens are in great shape. Tricky layout. I think I only hit driver once in the front. Great value. Well worth the drive.
very nice course
the course was in great shape, especially will the high temps this time of the year.
A LITTLE LONG From The Blues
Plays a little long for an average player, Suggest playing the Men's Forward tees, Be aware that Food is limited during Summer Hours, Clubhouse closed completely before we finished - no bathrooms available as that happens. Tee Boxes OK, Fairways typical for summer, Greens Good, Range is good.
fun course
greens and fairways are in great shape. not a long course which is perfect for me. some tricky holes, read the hole description in the course guide, it really helps. it was an enjoyable round.
Tight and challenging
This course is well maintained with beautiful mountain views from several locations. The course requires proper club selection due to narrow fairways and well placed hazards. Fairways and greens were in very good condition. I enjoyed the round and the challenge of managing each shot. I will play this course again.
Very pretty views
Always have a great time at this course. Friendly staff. For such a beautiful course the the cost is very reasonable.
Interesting and humbling too
My wife and I played Sunday mid-day and pace was a bit slow. No Marshall in sight to move things along. Course was in great shape! The scorecard is a bit deceiving as I played the back tees to get my usual yardage...mistake. The course is tight and some target golf is needed. You can spray your drives and not too many golfers will be in your line of fire as your errant drives will be lost in the desert. The layout is a bit different but offers lots of variety. Very scenic. A good experience overall.
Worth a short drive
For a "Country Club" I was surprised to see all of the cart paths DIRT. Carts created a lot of dust. All direction signs and hole location signs were made of very low quality material. Course playing conditions were very good. Greens are very small but in great condition.
Bring your "A" game.
This is one of the tightest courses I've ever played. Not long off the white tees, (5,800 yards) but you have to hit it straight. Many par 4's don't require a driver, so that helps. Course is in nice shape and the small greens roll true. Local knowledge goes a long way here, being aware of where to hit your shots. The lone palm tree in front of the first green is bizarre, but in many ways this is a unique course and I thought it was worth the drive from the west valley of Phoenix.
Great course
WCC is a great course. I hadn't played it in over 2 years and what improvements they have made. Great greens, great fairways, great boxes.
The only negative about the course were the snooty members of the country club. Have you ever seen Caddy Shack.....well they are very similar. I saw a 'member drive his cart over the edge of a green and not care. We saw a 'member' sit down on the patio for less than 10 seconds, then get up to tell the bar staff that they had been there a while, and why hadn't we been served yet.
But to the course.......:
As I said earlier it is vastly improved over the last two years. If you had played it in the past, it's worth another look.
Best fairways I have seen. Tricky greens.
The fairways and the greens were in very good shape. The fairways are tight compared to other courses we have played. Nice views. Several blind shots from the back tees. After the first nine I decided to play the next tee up, which was a good choice. Watch out for the palm tree in fron of the number one green.
Some what tricky
Some of the holes were a little tricked up.
Beautiful day / enjoyable course
We really enjoyed playing Wickenburg Country Club again. The hot deal rate was exceptional... we played in under 4 hours... course was in excellent shape and always presents a good challenge with the narrow fairways and tricky greens..
Worth the Long Drive from Phoenix
Played mid week afternoon. The course itself (fairways, greens) in great shape. The cart paths are dirt paths and the dust kicks up -- but nice elevations.
The clubhouse is slightly nicer than the course Roy McAvoy taught at in Tin Cup.
Hate the first hole
Who puts a palm tree protecting the green?
I only ask that because I didn't score well on the first hole. I love this course, it's become my favorite. Love the long par 3's , very challenging. 9:32 tee time, had the course to ourselves, didn't see another group till 11:00, must have been too cold. Enjoy
