Didn't Need Driver
Elephant Rocks is an incredibly short course (about 6000 yards from the back) as are other courses in the area. This place separates itself with it's great conditions, pine tree-lined fairways, and EXCEPTIONAL staff. Everyone from the clubhouse clerk to the ranger made us feel like regulars although it was our first time there. Saw the ranger several times throughout the round and he always made sure to stop and see how we were doing, made sure we were having a great time. An amazing course that makes you forget you're golfing in Arizona. A true gem.
cARPET fAIRWAYS
I CONTINUE TO ENJOY THIS COURSE. SHOTS FROM THE FAIRWAYS ARE A JOY TO HIT
Great value
A wonderful course to play specially when it’s really hot in Sedona. The temperature in Williams was perfect the course is in great shape and the staff even remembered my name when I showed up great way to spend a early morning playing golf.
fun!
unusual name but nice course. I get where they get the name...from the volcanic bolders scratered thru out the course. course in great shape.
Worth the drive!
This was my first time playing Elephant rocks but definitely won't be my last! It made the 1+ hour drive well worth it. The first few holes take you through a wooded area, the next series is in a meadow-type area, and you finish in a wooded area again. Some holes like #17 are extremely challenging, while those in meadow are more than fair. The fairways and greens were all in good condition. The scenery was awesome! Overall, a really fun course to play!
greens inconsistent
It was a perfect golf day at Elephant Rocks. The temp was in the mid 60's, very little wind and not really crowded. This was the first time I played Elephant Rocks this year. The course had been opened for about three weeks. The course was in very good condition considering it had not been opened very long from winter. The areas around the greens were very wet, thus, if you hit before the green you would not get any bounce. The greens themselves were in good condition, but the roll was very inconsistent from hole to hole. The first five holes the greens were extremely slow. Holes 6 - 9 the roll was what I was accustomed to on this course. The back nine greens were very inconsistent and looked as though some were cut early and some not cut at all making reads very difficult. Ali in all it was a lot of fun! I enjoy playing this course at least once a month during their golf season. It is a fun course to play, challenging but not daunting for the average player. The scenery is awesome with views of the mountains. The GolfNow price was fantastic and look forward to my next round at Elephant Rocks!
Bad round
I'm disappointed with GolfNow because you guys did not state that golf course was closed for 18 holes. Should have warned golfers that back nine was not available.
Williams Rocks
Course in great shape. Pin placements were tough. Pins haven't been moved?
ALWAYS VERY NICE, BOTH STAFF AND COURSE
Again the staff was very friendly to all of our party. Brandon was very nice a check in and made playing very easy. The courtesy shown there is indicative of the outstanding management of Scott and Greg. Plus the experience of playing around some 100 plus deer and the beauty of the course make it definitely worth the drive.
Elephant Rocks
This course is in a great setting. It has a range of difficulty with very long par 5 holes and challenging short holes. We loved seeing a small herd of deer sharing the course.
Beautiful mountain course
Good layout especially the last 5 holes which are outstanding. Course in good condition but greens were recently aerated and were average speed and somewhat inconsistent. Rate was a little rich given the time and conditioning. Would recommend playing if you are in the Grand Canyon area but not a destination course
glassngolf
Disregarding the windy day, the course was fun to play. The fairways, however, were extremely wet because of overwatering which the staff explained as necessary because of the work being done on one of the ponds used to provide reclaimed water for the course. (Water level needed to be kept low). Extremely difficult to identify pin locations because all flags were the same color. Only 3 flag sticks had hole locations identified with a smaller adjustable flags
My Favorite course
We keep coming back to play this course whenever we are in the area. Beautiful scenery and great layout! Course is in great shape!
Great Golf in the Pines
Wife and I played here while staying in the area in our RV. The course is owned by the City of Williams and is a great track - especially for a municipal course. The course was in great condition. They had just punched a week ago and it was almost completely back up to speed. Great layout. Some holes in the open meadows and many in the pines. Lots of elevation changes. Not too long, but length isn't the challenge....you've got to keep it between the trees. Friendly staff. Super scenery. We liked it so much we came back and played again the next day.
ALWAYS VERY NICE, BOTH STAFF AND COURSE
I play this course at least twice a week and am very sad to be moving away from it. I really like the staff and the beauty of the course. Always a fantastic experience all the way around.
Good Mountain Golf for a Good Value
An attractive mix of challenging mountain golf and some straightforward meadow links. Excellent turf with receptive greens. Nicely maintained traps. Several par-4's are narrow and best played with a hybrid off the tee.
Adequate driving range and practice putting/chipping green with sand bunker. Hot dogs, fruit and candy always available, with full sandwich menu only available on busy days. Rustic clubhouse/bar.
If you are staying in Flagstaff, this is worth the drive. Elephant Rocks is a more conventional and open course layout than Continental Country Club.
EXCELLENT Staff, both friendly and helpful
The staff starting with Scott, Greg, Brandon, and Bob are always very friendly and helpful. THIS WILL BE THE BEST GOLF EXPERIENCE YOU WILL EVER HAVE IN AZ. I have to move and I wish I could take these guys and the course with me. If everyone was this cool the world would be a lot better.
Slow
Very slow play, call first to make sure no tournament in front of your group, shortage of carts when tournaments are there. Beautiful course.
