About
Founded in 1917, Washoe Golf Course is the oldest golfing facility in Reno. The layout has small greens and tree-lined fairways, but the fairways are wide and flat making them fairly forgiving. There are water hazards and bunkers strategically placed throughout. The mature landscape is carefully maintained with an elaborate sprinkler system that ensures that the course is green and ready for play all year round. Washoe Golf Course also has PGA Professionals on staff to help with individual or group instruction and extensive practice facilities that include a generous putting green, driving range, and a chipping area with practice bunker.

Course needs attention
The golf course has some interesting holes, but the course needs some serious attention. I understand the corona virus has compromised some things, but there are large areas that have no grass on them and the cart paths have numerous pot holes with water in them. The sand traps have not been raked in days and the greens are slow, but in good condition. It need serious work before I would play it again.
Slow Day
Since Covid lots more golfers out there.. Need a Marshall.. Pace of play is bad

Nice course for the price. Open layout for the novice player. Could use a little more signs to the next hole for the new people to the course. Enjoyed my round!
Fantastic
We had a fabulous day. The course was in great condition and the instructions given amid the Covid Pandemic were easy to follow and understandable. I was just super excited to be out playing.
Great Fun
Really enjoyed my day! Fairways and greens lush and pretty. Greens a little thick, but muni course they don't want the golfer having to make a lot of putts. Played with a couple of ladies who were having issues hitting the ball straight, putting and chipping. They asked for help, and we had a mini golf clinic and made some suggestions. Back nine, play was great for all, had a terrific time on a really old school coursr!.

Had a great time playing with my son, we will be back for sure!!
Great course especially for the price
Course was great. The overall layout is pretty simple and very open. I went in the winter on a pretty windy day but still had a lot of fun. The price was unbeatable since I found it as a "hot deal".
A ton of History
Washoe Golf Course is a nice challenge with small greens and is one of the oldest courses in Nevada.
It used to host PGA events back in the day when Hogan, Sneed, and Demerit played.

Washoe county golf course like Wildcreek the best value for average golfers on a budget for 18 holes..I first played here in 1980 but really like it..fair and tough staff neat but affordable ..chris ruona reno nevada
Fun round of golf
This is my favorite course, always get paired with interesting people and the course is set up for great play! Wide fairways ;)

Very friendly staff and always great golf and deals.
Slick greens
Navigating the course is relatively straight forward. When approaching the green or putting it is a different story. Aim for the middle and go from there. If the flag is close to the edge and you go for it you will find yourself chipping up towards the hole. The greens were very fast and a very good test for anyone's putting touch. Overall it was a challenging but enjoyable day.
Playing golf in reno in February!
Since there is no winter yet this year playing at Washoe is great!

Very nice course for a reasonable price. Course was in decent shape for the time of year. Rate of play was good.
"The Shoe"
I really like this course, it offers a challenge for every player!not The fairways are generous, yet a premium is placed of position off the tee so accuracy it required Also, the greens are small and undulated so accurate iron play is a must. Additionally, if a green is missed an above average short game is requires to get up and down without giving away too many stokes! Also, after getting the ball on the green, putting becomes important as the green are undulated and reading them requires attention to the undulation and the slope of the course its-self! So par is a good score! Another feature is there are plenty of risk reward shots on the course, so strategy is key. Finally, I cannot say enough about the staff; they all go above and beyond, make the player feel "a part of" rather than a customer!! That alone keeps me going back!!!
Straight Forward
Very windy when we played. Driver is not always a good thing on this course. Use your head, not brawn.
