About
Founded in 1917, Washoe Golf Course is the oldest golfing facility in Reno. The layout has small greens and tree-lined fairways, but the fairways are wide and flat making them fairly forgiving. There are water hazards and bunkers strategically placed throughout. The mature landscape is carefully maintained with an elaborate sprinkler system that ensures that the course is green and ready for play all year round. Washoe Golf Course also has PGA Professionals on staff to help with individual or group instruction and extensive practice facilities that include a generous putting green, driving range, and a chipping area with practice bunker.

Red-neck Golfing
Red-neck golfing at it's best. Shirts optional for men on the front 9. I didn't know that was proper golf attire????
Great course for the Pro and the beginner
Course was very nice , greens were very fast and dry but all in if you stay fairway it’s a good game, trees are primary hazard on this course so stay a straight away and your golden.
The course is challenging and fun at the same time
I am an intermediate golfer and enjoy the course and the staff is very friendly!
Good overall
Good value for the cost of the round. Pace of play was quite slow. Some areas of the course were over-watered and muddy.
Always fun
Washoe seems flat and average on the front 9, then the back nine reaches up, puts hills, swales and other stuff in your way. It is always a fun course to play and many holes will challenge even accomplished golfers. Not to hard on the wallet either.
Poorly managed.
I was a solo and was paired with another solo. It was an booked day so we had to wait for our turn like every other group. But instead the old man I was with started shooting at people almost hitting them he did this to like 5 groups on the front nine alone. Then he left and I jumped in with a 3 some so I wasn’t all alone again. Course was wayyyyy too wet they have nothing taken care of. They should charge like 10$ for that pod.
Washoe 7/12/22
The greens and fairways were in very nice shape but everything was extremely wet. Tee off 11:30am yet some fairways had sprinklers on. Some areas were like a bog. It lowered our enjoyment on parts of the course. They are doing a nice job of keeping the greens and fairways good but they should modify their watering schedules. Also the bunkers were very hard and many were wet. The staff was super nice and we still had a fun round of golf.
Nice muni course
Front 9 straightforward, open, very forgiving. Back 9 more interesting, less forgiving. Course has many areas likely formerly grass now converting into waste / bunker areas; i like the water conservation in Reno, and they've mostly done this in front of tee boxes, so it's a links sand bunker feel. I thought this was smart and I'm fine with it, others may not feel the same.
Look forward to my next 18 at Washoe.
Good for the price
Everything is always straight forward at Washoe GC. Staff is Friendly and pace of play was good. Finished round right at 4 hrs. Course was in good shape with grass in good condition. Bunkers are hard packed with a thin layer of sand on top. The small tea cupped greens are Challenging to stick a golf ball. Enjoyed the round!
