Washoe Golf Course
About
Founded in 1917, Washoe Golf Course is the oldest golfing facility in Reno. The layout has small greens and tree-lined fairways, but the fairways are wide and flat making them fairly forgiving. There are water hazards and bunkers strategically placed throughout. The mature landscape is carefully maintained with an elaborate sprinkler system that ensures that the course is green and ready for play all year round. Washoe Golf Course also has PGA Professionals on staff to help with individual or group instruction and extensive practice facilities that include a generous putting green, driving range, and a chipping area with practice bunker.

Nice muni course
Front 9 straightforward, open, very forgiving. Back 9 more interesting, less forgiving. Course has many areas likely formerly grass now converting into waste / bunker areas; i like the water conservation in Reno, and they've mostly done this in front of tee boxes, so it's a links sand bunker feel. I thought this was smart and I'm fine with it, others may not feel the same.
Look forward to my next 18 at Washoe.
Good for the price
Everything is always straight forward at Washoe GC. Staff is Friendly and pace of play was good. Finished round right at 4 hrs. Course was in good shape with grass in good condition. Bunkers are hard packed with a thin layer of sand on top. The small tea cupped greens are Challenging to stick a golf ball. Enjoyed the round!
Good value and surprisingly challenging
The course is a typical muni course, but it has some very interesting holes and greens that seem to defy logic! Good course and inexpensive too.
Nice for price
It’s golf season and prices are crazy. Washoe is affordable and a nice course.
Prices keep going up, course conditions gets worse
Been playing here for several years, mostly because they have good deals compared to other courses. Lately I've noticed that tee prices keep going up (hot deals get snatched quick) and for full price the course isn't what it was. For $20 more, I can play at a really nice course in town. More and more swampy areas or brown patches, tee boxes don't appear to be cut (my tall tees were buried in the grass). People there are still friendly and nice, but unless I can score hot deal I don't think I'll be playing here.
Long round
No Marshall to speed up play. Round was a little over 5 hours.
Good but not Necessarily Great
As I have mentioned in my recent previous reviews, this a a good but not a great deal. This was perhaps one of the premiere golf courses of Reno in years past. Now it is just OK, mainly because it has not been maintained as well as it can be expected of this prime property.
Golf
Greens need to be rolled, very bumpy. But still great day of golf, course in good shape. Staff awesome as always!
