Tanna Farms Golf Club

About
Tanna Farms Golf Club in Geneva offers some of the best golf that the Fox Valley has to offer. The layout meanders across prairies covered with wildflowers and weaves through lush wetlands. The course begins with the stunning signature hole. The par-3 opener has an island green that sets the scene for this thrilling and memorable round. Although it's a seemingly short course at 6,510 yards from the back tees, what it lacks in length it makes up for with plenty of other challenges. Besides the first hole, there are a few other tough par 3s, including one with a postage-stamp sized green. There are some daunting par 5s as well. Tanna Farms Golf Club is not a lengthy course but the layout is generously spaced to offer breathing room between the holes and the undulating slopes and subtle elevation changes make it pay much longer.

This course is always fun, especially when it's empty. Zipped through in 3 hrs. Winter conditions...so no complaints about conditions.
Tough track
Course can be tricky. Fairway bunkers are placed at the right distance that either you have to drive over or lay up. The course starts with a par 3 over water and than to a par 5 and back to a par 3. The only wish is they have some kind of warming up area. No range.
Slower than slow
Played at 10:30 on a beautiful Thursday morning. Waited on every hole starting with the second hole. 4 hours and 40 minutes. No rangers on xourse. Their scorecard says rounds should be 4 hours or less. Yeah, I agree. Too many blind shots due to 7 feet high heather or prairie grass. You can't see the landing area in the fairway or on some par 3's. No bar in the clubhouse. I won't play again.
Just a terrible experience
I’ll be surprised if Tanna stays open another year. Obviously they can only afford minimum upkeep to stay open. Bathroom on course was locked and my female playing partner was forced to go in the elements causing stress and embarrassment. One outhouse available after that on back nine. Hasn’t been serviced in forever, no toilet paper.
The layout is terrible, no amenities, and because of all of this, no golfers. Will never go back
Course was challenging
The staff was very friendly and the course was in very good shape. If I had one complaint it would be that the cart I used was not in the best condition. Other than that I would consider playing at Tanna farms in the future.
Poor layout and no idea where to hit shots (can’t see)
Course was in decent shape for late October. Course layout is terrible and the par 3s are around 121-127yds from blue tees (too short IMO). Many holes you cannot see where to drive the ball or make a smart play on approach. Visibility of greens and fairways is really poor.
Challenging Course
Despite the weird layout of having the 1st hole a par 3 island green and no practice range the layout was very interesting.
Some tight fairways and a couple of doglegs have you thinking about club selection a little more then on auto pilot. The greens were fast and generally well maintained. Great scenery, and a nice winding trail from green to the next tee box. Local course knowledge is a big help to score well, but the entire round was a real treat.
