Spread across 200 scenic acres of rolling meadows and steep hillsides, Hill Country Golf Club offers 27 scenic holes of championship golf. Designed by renowned architectural firm Arthur Hills & Associates, Golf Digest considers it one of Texas’ best places to play. Each course covers a beautiful landscape of native oak, wildflowers, and cactus. The Lakes Nine is obviously characterized by the clear blue lakes that come into play throughout the course. There are also wooded ravines and strategically placed bunkers throughout the course for even more challenges. The Creeks Nine, named after the creeks that meander through the layout, this course demands accuracy with water coming into play on several holes and numerous strategically placed bunkers. In addition to the three nines, Hill Country Golf Club also offers a putting green and driving range.

Hyatt Hill Country Taking a Siesta

This course was built twenty years ago, and the third nine was added in 2005.
We have played here quite a few times. It has three distinct nines; the Creeks, The Lakes and the Oaks.
We played the Lakes and the Oaks.
Both courses are dominated by gnarly Bermuda roughs which tend to over run everything.
The fairways on the Oaks are more narrow, but both nines have plenty of trees along the fairways.
Sadly, neither the greens nor the tees are being mowed. They over seeded with winter rye grass and the greens are bumpy and very thick.
Overall, this is a nice golf course with lots of nice scenery and privacy. You are mostly by yourself out here.
There are some wet areas that need work in front of some greens.
This is a fair and sporty resort style golf course with very helpful employees like Jeff the starter.
Because there are three different nines intersecting, the signs could be confusing to a new player.
They have an amazingly decorated and stocked pro shop and a great restaurant next door called Antlers.

Lots of fun to play.

Greens are fast and undulating. Makes putting an adventure. Combination of canyon golf and hills golf. Lots of fun.

An excellent resort course

From the moment we arrived we received first class attention from the staff. The course is probably the best resort course we have played in the United States.

Good Shape

Only Lakes and Oaks tracks were open on the day I visited. Starter was great in explaining situation and what to expect as we were stuck behind a "tournament". My expectation was a little longer round, but I had no idea it would take 5 hours. Course was well maintained other than some really wet areas in lower areas. For the price paid, can't complain too much.

Hot Deal/Aeration

My notes were based on a steep discount and some aeration on the greens. The course is pretty friendly with a little wider than average fairways, but the greens can be tricky if you aren't careful. My favorite part of the course overall is that you tee off with many different clubs. All in all, very fun and would play again.

Great Golf Course

The course was perfect except for one thing. The hole locations were changed way to often in the same places and around the hole there were way too many old hole location patches. Other than that the course was pristine. It was challenging, but was getable on the right holes. The staff knew how to go out of their way to be helpful and all in all it was a great time.

Fairways pristine but generally tight. The greens were good to great. Service was cordial but generally below expectation for an expensive resort.

Fairways pristine but generally tight. The greens were good to great but very fast, generally small, sometimes undulating and challenging. Played after noon on a hot August day and course was wide open. Cold water variably supplied on each tee box.

Service was cordial but generally below expectation for an expensive resort -- about what I would expect at say Tapatio or Silverhorn but definitely not up to the service at Westin. Carts GPS screens were scratched up and hard to read distances and the advertised feature of ordering ahead for lunch on GPS did not work and has not worked for some time (yes, a first world tragedy :) ).

Local rate was $49 which was a good value but I probably would go back to Westin next time I want to play a resort course in SA.

Fast greens, tight fairways

Track was moderate to advanced play. For my first time playing it was challenging. I'm a mid to low 80's consistent player and I shot a 94. Maybe I was just having an off day not sure, and it was extremely hot and humid. Looking forward to play it again.

This course has some fun holes to play.

My daughter and I played the Lakes and Creeks course. We had a very enjoyable day together and was glad we had the opportunity to play.

Pros
1. Tee boxes and fairways were in very good condition
2. Staff was great to interact with
3. Cart was nice and the GPS was good
4. It was pretty empty so the pace of play was great

Cons
1. My daughter came to practice but they failed to mention that the range tee was closed all week - she couldn't hardly practice because the temporary tee was AWFUL
2. Good thing I booked on GolfNow because the course price was way out of line
3. I didn't think the greens were that good

My daughter shot 78 from the White Tees and I shot 74 from the Back Tees - we thought there were some real good holes. Would play again if I found a good deal on the rates.

Course is great shape as it was just aerified

Great course with 27 holes to play. Any combination of courses will give you all you want. Couple of ways to really score well and they are either be a great bomber of ball down the fairway or be great with your irons, especially those wedges. Need to be an above average putter as there is lots of slope and the greens are nice and fast.
