Hill Country Golf Club - Lakes/Creeks
About
Spread across 200 scenic acres of rolling meadows and steep hillsides, Hill Country Golf Club offers 27 scenic holes of championship golf. Designed by renowned architectural firm Arthur Hills & Associates, Golf Digest considers it one of Texas’ best places to play. Each course covers a beautiful landscape of native oak, wildflowers, and cactus. The Lakes Nine is obviously characterized by the clear blue lakes that come into play throughout the course. There are also wooded ravines and strategically placed bunkers throughout the course for even more challenges. The Creeks Nine, named after the creeks that meander through the layout, this course demands accuracy with water coming into play on several holes and numerous strategically placed bunkers. In addition to the three nines, Hill Country Golf Club also offers a putting green and driving range.

Creek Course #9 Photo submitted by GreerGolf on 06/06/2017
Next time put a Windmill next to the Oak Tree on Hole 3....and maybe offer a free round to anyone that can find their way around the course without a cart path map.
Re review
I may have been too harsh on the course
It’s a typical resort course
Not real good not real bad
Over priced
Played 18 of 27 holes
7 were ok
Construction distraction
Back-up beep beep beep truck noise
One day when finished should be nice
Under Construction
The practice facility and two holes on our round were under construction. Some of the greens were damaged as well.
The greens were so slow that it felt like they hadn’t been cut in two weeks.
Poor Value
Hyatt is putting in a new water park for the resort, and they are tearing up the golf course to do so. The regular driving range and practice green are gone. Holes are shortened/affected by the massive dig project. The greens are shaggy. There is no way that the rack rate $140 is appropriate for the golf course in this condition. I would not pay more than $50 for the course. Once the project is done, I will come back and play. For now, only a hot deal would lure me back.
Disappointed Experience
The course is under some considerable construction which I can totally understand for any course that is making improvements, but a number of issues with the staff and guest touch points here. The starter was not informative about the driving range location needing to be shuttled to. Just handed us balls and left us to try and figure it out driving around. There is no signage saying which direction each of the three courses are and with all the construction it’s hard to figure out. No beverage cart on a very hot Saturday. At the turn after not seeing a beverage cart for 9 holes we asked the starter and marshal separately about a beverage cart and they assured us it would make it to us on our back 9. It didn’t. Going 18 holes on $150 round without seeing a beverage cart or having proper service is a bit frustrating.
Good course
Started was very helpful..GPS went out. Employee called in for help. The starter arrived in a few minutes and re set the GPS we were good to go. Unable to enter user name
Update - Course Under Some Construction
Overall, the course is one of the better ones in the. San Antonio area but this is now the third time I have had a tee time in the middle of a major tournament this slowing play and causing a parking nightmare. The starter could not even tell us what our two nines were going to be. So I had to break my round into two nines vs 18 on my Arccos app.
The greens and tee boxes are starting to show the signs of being burned and crabgrass coming up on the tee boxes. Most of the tee boxes needed to be mowed as they were a bit shaggy.
The greens needed to be rolled because they were extremely slow. The bunkers were in decent shape on the lakes and oaks.
The driving range is destroyed due to construction so there warm up area is a cart drive / shuttle away. Irons only too. The grassy area was pretty chewed up too. On the plus side there is a cold water jug down there to refill a water bottle. The shuttle drivers are a hoot but plan for an extra five to get down there and then back. They had a shuttle driver down there so you did not have to wait.
Overall still not a bad place to play if you can get a GolfNow hot tee time. I don’t know that I would pay full rack price though.
Many greens in bad shape and range is under repair
No where near worth$145 , I’m sure if they get the course in shape would be better , signs to proper course and tee box confusing
