Tees & greens are very good. Fairways are also good.

Rough is rather rough in spots (under watered). Now that they are aggressively trimming trees the greens are in much better condition. Bring your most comfortable shoes when walking as it is a good workout. I like the back nine the best.

A fun little country course. The tree in the middle of fairways are dead giveaway of a country course.

A fun little up and down country course. Nice vigorous walk in the park with all the elevation.

Hidden Gem

Indian Valley is a short, well maintained semi-private course on water-shed land outside of Novato. The greeens were in excellent condition as were the traps. The fairways were good, although had a few dried out spots. Wind was a factor the day we played. Playing the ball down was not difficult. The staff was friendly. The views of the hills were awesome all over the course.

Great course and really good value in the Bay Area

Really enjoyed the round. Beautiful scenery and challenging without being crazy. Well maintained (some dry spots, but it's mid-summer) and good staff. Slow day due to 2 groups in front of us that were backing things up.

The most interesting course in the area.

Every hole is different and interesting. Fantastic views on some holes. Management is continually improving the course with new cart paths, tree maintenance and planting, as well as tee box repair. Except for number nine in the winter (when Stafford Lake is full) no water to contend with.

Heat Wave!

One of the GR8 things about this course, especially in the current HEAT, is the positioning of well constructed bathrooms at the end of #3 and end of #12. There are cold water fountains and cold refreshment boxes there too!

Great Fun

I started playing golf on this course 30+ years ago. It always ate me alive. I haven't played it in over 10 + years. It is in much better shape now than before. Many improvements. An all together enjoyable experience.

Love this track!

Love the scenic elevated tees. Lots of good risk/reward type holes. Greens have been in good shape the 3 times I've played here so far this year. Definitely one of my favorite courses around...

Quality track, well tended, good test of golf.

Novato wind made the day bearable.Shot a cool 2 over from
the whites 1 week after my 64th B'day.

Great course!

Once again, the ease of booking with GN.com made this more of a value. The staff could have been just a tad warmer. One step away from being cold, at least to me. There were TONS of range balls and we wasted money on tokens! Interesting range, as it is about 200yds up a 55 degree incline!
Putting practice surfaces were in good shape.
I loved the challenges of just about every hole as this place has it all. There were uphill par 5's, downhill par 3's and dog-legs left and right. There were blind tee shots and a couple blind approaches (the 18th was memorable). WAIT UNTIL YOU SEE THE 16TH HOLE. WOW!
My son and I got very lucky and were paired up with another father-son duo, a super nice family. Thankfully they knew the course because it was hit or miss as to where the heck you went next! More signage def wouldn't hurt.
I think I will have to go back to this place and I know I will enjoy it more the second time!

Blind Shots!

My husband and I played this course using 2 different tee boxes, from the back tees he had a lot of blind shots. We had to drive forward several times so we knew where to hit the ball from the tee and in the fairways. It was very windy I'm not sure if that is the normal in that area. The course was in very good condition, the greens where nice a bit slow though from what we like and are used to. Interesting Hole 1 there are 2 big oak trees in the middle of the fairway, you challenge the first one then you have to challenge the second one! Walking....if you are a "Billy Goat" you will do fine, a lot of distances between tee boxes also. The ride up to the 16th Tee Box is pretty cool if your a walker! My answer for not recommending the course to a friend is because we probably won't return....we like to see where to hit the ball......also you have a lot of side hill lies even in the fairways they slope extremely sideways.

Gorgeous setting. Demanding and very well-maintained course.

Indian Valley is not long at all, but is fairly narrow and presents many very demanding shots. The holes are very original and interesting -- no cookie-cutter design here. From the back tees, there are some spectacular elevation changes and shots that require moving the ball right/left or left/right. The greens, some of which are huge, are receptive to shots but roll out surprisingly well. Don't get above the hole or short-sided. Add to all of this the well-above-average condition of the course and the beautiful mountain and lake vistas, and you have a true gem of a course tucked away in the scenic north Marin hills. Highly recommended and a terrific value.

What a beauty. Great views, no traffic noise, no houses, tons of trees.

This is a course that you will need to play once or twice before all of the nuances become clear. It has quite a few tee boxes where the golfer is blind to the fairway. This was my first time and this course ate me alive (my worst overall score in 5 years), but I will be back with a little knowledge to attack this gem again. Very nice golf course.

Good times

Beautiful views of rolling hills and some fun tee shots from elevated boxes. Course is short (only 6300 yards from the tips) and actually plays shorter due to numerous downhill tee shots. maitnence is pretty good and pace of play is decent. I would go back.

Great course, mediocre customer service.........

My friend and I played with two members of the course and they couldn't have been nicer. The course has many blind shot and they gave us the all the right info we needed to make the shot. The greens were in great shape and all in all a great round. The only hic-up was the guy in the pro shop he wasn't very helpful and was quite rude when we were checking in. As soon as we showed him our golfnow recite with a discounted rate the guy became short with us and not very helpful. I would definitely play Indian Valley again and again.
