Perfect course, slow pace
A pretty slow pace of play but otherwise an excellent course. Interesting, varied layout with enough challenges to keep you engaged. The course was in very good condition with even fairways and fast but soft greens.
Very friendly staff and a very fun course to play. it is difficult to play in the wind. the practice range and practice greens are well managed.
Very impressed with this course. I expect a course playing in August to have some dry spots and bare areas. Every time my ball landed I had a great lie and the greens were exceptional as well.
I enjoyed the layout, trap placement was challenging but you were rewarded with good shots.
Carts looks new, staff was very friendly as well.
If you want to nice game on an exceptionally well maintained course, this is the place for you.
Rude Pro Shop and Bar
While the scenery is nice, the staff in the Pro Shop are consistently mean and rude. Asked the bartender for some water and she said, "there's a spigot on the side of the sehd by the driving range. The course is flat like a parking lot. I will NOT be playing there again.
Course was in great shape. The greens were a little fuzzy but they still rolled true. Had an 8:20 tee time and walked it in 3 hours and 40. No amenities but having an insulated bag helped keep the beverages cold.
I did not have fun today I tried to call to cancel because of all the rain and happen unless those only let to play for 9 holes not a good day golf down really made me mad not being able answer my phone call to get a refund before our tee time. Poor customer service
I usually like playing this course, but something has killed the fairways. Large swaths of dead grass and semi bear dirt interspersed with little tiny islands of green grass. Don't know what happened, but it's a disaster.
Fun track and relatively (relative to the times) well maintained. One of the better draining courses in the north bay for winter play. Easy walk.
I would of loved to play but after booking my tee time I called Rooster run and they told me that they had already booked my tee time and that I wouldn't be able to get a tee time till 10AM When I tried to cancel my tea time it would not let me do it because it said it was not within the timeframe to cancel so I'm not sure what's going on and if I'm paying for but I did not play even though I have a confirmation that said I booked at tee time I ended up playing Oakmount East course.
Rooster is a good solid golf course. My friends and I play it every 4 to 6 weeks. We drive up from southern Marin and have to play before or around noon because of the traffic heading north. We like the course!
Two balls dropped and wrong set of Tees
Love the staff, like the course but the Marshall's should check players handicaps before allowing them to hit from the blues, much less the black tees. WAY too often we've had to wait when those players could barely hit pass the womans tees, much less NEAR or on the fairway. To add insult to injury,,,they would WAIT, (when they COULD have hit), but they would have delusions of grandeur...!
All in all, that makes the pace of play ridiculous and these golfers should be challenged! I was told if the Marshall's asked, they would be told....I paid to play!!! Well, I also PAY to play but have had to leave several times as it ruins and disrups my game.
All 8n all, I would ask a player's handicap PRIOR to allowing the wannabes to find their fame.
Playing within their handicap and course etiquette is a MUST. I play your couse couple times a week but either spread out the tee times or have the Marshall's rove a bit more, please!
A local favorite
Since I live in San Francisco--cool-to-freezing summers--I relish golf in the North Bay, where there is actual sun & heat. Rooster Run is one of my favorite tracks--friendly staff, reasonable rates, always well-maintained, adjacent to vineyards (and a little muni airport, which is no big deal), a variety of holes, challenging but not overly so, and very puttable greens. And golf weather in Sonoma in summer is warm-to-hot; in my book that translates to "perfect."
The only reason RR doesn't rate 5 stars is the tee boxes. I golfed on a Friday & they desperately needed to be cut.
