About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 01/2020.
This course, designed by Jeff Brauer and opened in 1991, offers one of the more enjoyable experiences for the average golfer. The par 72 layout is only 6,500 yards and is void of trees, making it more of a links-style course. Mounding is prominent around the multi-tiered greens, making it difficult for ups and downs after approach miscues.
Two holes stand out, both on the back nine. The par 5 No. 12 is reachable in two at only 488 yards, but water guards the landing area off the tee and the green has three levels. No. 17 is a fun par 3 playing 195 yards over a lake.
Remember that the trick to Bluebonnet is the greens. Pay attention to the pin placements and try to find the right level of the green.
Getting there : From I-290 going west get off at the Decker Ln. exit, and drive about 1.5 miles to the course.

Not a bad little track
Fun course. The greens were in good shape and rolled true. Fairways aren’t the best but far from the worst. Overall good value.
Enjoyed the round
Course was in pretty good shape considering the time of year. Greens were in excellent condition. Pace of play could be a little better but the marshalls did try to keep it moving. Overall liked the round and will come back.
Great Greens
Greens are in great shape they roll true. The fairways could use more water. They are like concrete really hard to take a divot. Tee boxes were OK it appears they are trying to get them to recover. All the staff was absolutely Amazing. First time playing here in 8-10 years. Still like the course. Great value considering greens fees are very reasonable. Bunkers need some sand added to them also.
Great greens, hardpan fairways
I love this course and always have! Greens are superb.
I would suggest aggressive aerification and a total topdressing to soften the course.
It will play longer and slower no doubt, but with that done, the course will easily be a top 5 in the area.
Simple, short course
The course had nice, quick greens. It’s in pretty decent shape and runs out nicely. The course is easy to attack as it’s a shorter course (3 of the par 3s were sub 130 yards). It’s also open if you miss off the tees. Overall in good shape and will go back again.
Always great
another good round at bluebonnet hills cold and windy today but still fun.
With dryer conditions the greens were in great conditions & fast.
I like playing this course it is a fun course with open fairways, greens were fast
New Year's Day
I played the course on New Year's day. It was cold, but not too bad. The wind was what was really making colder. The course was in really good condition, considering the weather we have been having here in Austin. There were wet spots throughout the course, but none that were in the way of play. The staff was friendly and cordial. I cannot wait to play the course again!
Keep rolling!
Big shout out to the greenskeeper! Can’t remember a round on this track that I wasn’t impressed with the greens. A few uneven T-boxes “that I should of adjusted better for” is the only reason this Austin gem didn’t get the whole 5 stars.
Amazing greens!
I had a great time playing this course. The condition of the greens were fantastic! I would highly recommend this course. I will definitely be playing here again.
Not quite dry yet........
There's a 90 degree rule for now, still water standing in places. A few more days and it should be back in good shape. The tee boxes have been moved back, so go down a club.
