About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 01/2020.
This course, designed by Jeff Brauer and opened in 1991, offers one of the more enjoyable experiences for the average golfer. The par 72 layout is only 6,500 yards and is void of trees, making it more of a links-style course. Mounding is prominent around the multi-tiered greens, making it difficult for ups and downs after approach miscues.
Two holes stand out, both on the back nine. The par 5 No. 12 is reachable in two at only 488 yards, but water guards the landing area off the tee and the green has three levels. No. 17 is a fun par 3 playing 195 yards over a lake.
Remember that the trick to Bluebonnet is the greens. Pay attention to the pin placements and try to find the right level of the green.
Getting there : From I-290 going west get off at the Decker Ln. exit, and drive about 1.5 miles to the course.

Best value in town
Very reasonable price and they kept the green in top notch shape... same condition as some of the finest country club course in the area. Staffs are very friendly and accommodating. This is also a "feel good" course as it produce good opportunity to score.
Valentine Day Round 2018
Foggy/ damp. greens weren't bad. Pace was great, not many playing golf on Valentine's Day. Staff is always friendly and polite. Good folks at Bluebonnet.
Good value
Nice course. Good layout. Open yet challenging. They moved my tee time up to go right after the last tee time of a local tournament. Front 9 took 3.5 hours so I only got 11 holes in before I had to leave. Would rate higher if pace was better
Ok bluebonnet
I like this course and the greens, however there was a freeze delay and nobody to let us into the course for 1 hour! Then waited 2 more hours for them to let us start playing when we could have gone off after 20 minutes after getting there! There was a lot of confusion from the staff but I still got to play golf so whatever.
Great Course!
I enjoyed playing this course! The staff were professional, the layout of the course was pretty straightforward, and the fairways and greens were well kept: especially for this time of year. There were some areas around the greens that were being worked on, but they were well marked. Also, expect bounce on hard Texas clay at edge and in spots of fairway. I will recommend this course to others, and can’t wait to return on a warm, sunny day to play again!
What Marshalls?
Took 4 and a half hours to play only 14 holes. Had to quit due to lack of course marshals. Where were they. Won't come back unless you clean this up.
Shaggy greens
Bluebonnet Hills Golf Course is usually a really fun play. We were disappointed with the condition of the greens. Seems they hadn't been mowed in at least a day. Other than this, it was a good time. Can't wait for better greens conditions.
Stay Away
Course not worry the money.....course in miserable condition and the layout is way to cramped. You feel like you are in the way on every hole.
Always a solid choice
I play Bluebonnet Hills 3 or 4 times a month and always enjoy the course. Scenic from several spots...deer and fox occasionally wander onto the course. The pace of play is always brisk....only once in the last 4 or 5 years have I ever had a round longer than 4 hours. My twosome played 36 holes in 6 hours. Course was in pretty good shape, but the greens, as always, were in great shape. Recovering from a recent aeration, they are rolling medium fast and true.
Not a bad little track
It's been years since I played Bluebonnet and I recall it being sort of a goat track muni and not well run. Pleasantly surprised to find a nice, fun little course. It's got some mature trees and water features I don't recall either. Playing single I got around the front 9 in a little over an hour, with folks letting me play through. Slowed down on the back and joined up with a group of geezers but still finished overall in 3 hours.
Bluebonnet Golf Club
This is the time of the year our courses aerate the greens. Course was in good shape and in about a week the greens will be really good.
Pace of play was great!
Maintenance during the play
I do understand that golf courses need to be maintained, but remaining open and allow people to play on green that has sand in it? I wouldn't say it's playable. It's a waste.

We are very sorry to hear you didn't find you experience enjoyable. At Bluebonnet Hill, we take great pride in the condition of our greens. A few times a year, we perform maintenance on the green complexes for the overall health of the turf.
It sounds like you played during the time we had aerified the greens. We do apologize for the less than desirable conditions but we do invite you to join us again real soon.
The golf course is in beautiful condition and the greens are incredible. We do hope to see you again soon!
Regards,

Old reliable
Have not played this course for several years, since shortly after it opened. When it opened, they advertised as absolutely enforcing 4 hour rounds and taking golfers off the course if they were not keeping pace. That apparently has changed, as our round took at least 4 1/2 hours. Layout pretty straightforward - hit the ball, find it, and hit it again. Trees are larger and more mobile than i remember, but it has been at least 15 years since my last visit.
We are sorry that you left disappointed in the condition of the greens. It seems as though you had played the course after we had overseeded the greens in preparation for the upcoming winter months. The process does not allow us to mow the greens until the winter grass has set in.
We would invite you to come back out soon as the greens are in gorgeous condition. We look forward to seeing you again real soon!
Greens had been overseeded.
