About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 01/2020.
This course, designed by Jeff Brauer and opened in 1991, offers one of the more enjoyable experiences for the average golfer. The par 72 layout is only 6,500 yards and is void of trees, making it more of a links-style course. Mounding is prominent around the multi-tiered greens, making it difficult for ups and downs after approach miscues.
Two holes stand out, both on the back nine. The par 5 No. 12 is reachable in two at only 488 yards, but water guards the landing area off the tee and the green has three levels. No. 17 is a fun par 3 playing 195 yards over a lake.
Remember that the trick to Bluebonnet is the greens. Pay attention to the pin placements and try to find the right level of the green.
Getting there : From I-290 going west get off at the Decker Ln. exit, and drive about 1.5 miles to the course.

Great Greens
Greens are in great shape they roll true. The fairways could use more water. They are like concrete really hard to take a divot. Tee boxes were OK it appears they are trying to get them to recover. All the staff was absolutely Amazing. First time playing here in 8-10 years. Still like the course. Great value considering greens fees are very reasonable. Bunkers need some sand added to them also.
F the owners
Lied to staff, threw city of Austin under bus and then closed the course for profit motive only. you suck
Farewell Bluebonnet
Wonderful day to say farewell to Bluebonnet. Course officially closes tomorrow. Staff maintained excellent course conditions and professionalism right til the end. It’s very sad that Austin is losing this gem.
Unfortunate
Another one bites the dust. Just another cool place getting gentrofied out. Play it while you can
Enjoyable Round
Nice little course, it was in very good condition, the greens were well maintained. Too bad his hidden gem is closing at the end of the month.
Awesome
Awesome course, 1st place I ever played ,still fun, grounds crew keep her in great shape
Reliable go-to for value and pace
I prefer the layouts at most of the atx munis but Bluebonnet has more consistent conditions and the pace always seems to be better because they don’t allow fivesomes and they really promote a four-hour pace. That is very appreciated. Also, 12 beers cost $37. Great value! It’s been awhile since I played here, probably over a year, and was surprised to see the farm left of 1 is being developed with what appears to be pretty big industrial complex.such is life in boomtown Austin.
Great price
Considering the weather has been extremely hot the course was in great condition.
very very good
The tee boxes and all greens are in excellent condition Course is in excellent condition.
Best Greens in ATX
I absolutely love this course. Highly recommend to any skill level player.
