Morris Williams Golf Course

very interesting visual layout, and a ton of fun to play!

mo willy is a solid muni track. it is fairly open, which makes it playable for any skill level, but there is a fair bit of elevation change and the greens are tricky enough to challenge better players too.

there is a great view of the skyline coming up the fairway on hole 7.

for the price, it'd be hard to find a better place to play.

Great value, greens were awesome, interesting layout. One of my best muni experiences in years.

I heard from a friend about as month ago indicating Morris Williams was in great shape after the $5m investment. It's totally true. The course is in great shape. #bestgreensinaustin

First time to play since the overhaul. Club house looks good. Some changes on the course are good. Glad I was with someone that had played and knew of the changes. Nice to see grass on the fairways. Greens were over seeded and wet in areas, but it is winter. Traps actually had sand - pure white sand. Player don't rake but what is new.
There was a tourney in front of use and play was extremely slow on the front. Had to wait on the back couple of times.

This was one of the longest rounds I have every played. We had to use flashlights to finish. Course staff seemed unable to remedy the problem! SAD

Couse is well maintained, staff were very friendly and it's a very good value. Greens fairly fast and is very good shape and the same for the fairways. Lots of trees but very fair driving area off the tee. Highly recommend..

For a public course, it is in great shape and well run

Staff needs a little better Marshall to work on the pace of the beginner players.

The course is in nice conditions but the course has very slow play. Instead of a 4 or a 4 1/2 round it was a 5 or a 5 1/2 round.

Fairways, greens , sand traps, all were in great condition.

They were fertilizing the tee boxes and the course was wet due to the sprinklers being on during the day which made the greens slow in connection with the grass on the greens being to long so it made them terribly slow and hard to putt on. Easily gave up a stroke on each hole because of the condition of the greens.

I have played MoWillie since the mid 70's and always enjoy the course. Not too difficult but a few holes can test your abilities. The updated course design has improved the overall playability. Great bang for your buck.

We waited at just about every hole for the foursome in font of us. Granted we were a twosome, but there were no marshalls and the tee times were crowded up between 4pm and 5:30 pm. Otherwise, the greens were in fine shape and the staff is not overly friendly, just professional.

Greens were slow, but rolled true. No bare spots on greens. Rough was above average, thick and wiry. Fairways were in excellent shape. Course was in excellent shape.

I thought play was very slow for this time of day, noon, there was no course monitor on the course, and to make matters worse, one of the foresome in front of us was a course monitor, when working. He should have known to speed us play, as no one was in front of them for several holes.

This is the first time I've played this course since they did some renovations a year or so ago. First off, the new club house is a HUGE improvement! Built brand new from the ground up, this is now a good sized building with a nice pro shop, restrooms, etc. It also has a large indoor bar/grill -- high ceiling, tables and chairs, ceiling fans, cold AC, and three TVs to watch. Outside, you can sit in a rocking chair on the 2nd story porch overlooking the putting green and a couple of the holes. They also have a large, covered area for tournament scoring and such. As a bonus to the expense of running the place, the entire roof is covered in solar panels. The electric carts are all stored underneath the club house and I witnessed two nice gentleman cleaning out and washing down every cart before they put them in for the night -- great job guys!

I'm guessing that the driving range holds a good 20-30 players. They have permanent, well marked poles for various yardages. And with high nets along the back and right side of the range, you don't have to worry too much about hitting one into the road. The practice green was just right -- plenty of holes, just enough undulation to work with, and in fine shape. They also have a separate, smaller green just for pitching.

On this particular outing, the tee boxes were a bit hard and pretty chewed up with divots. Almost all were very level, but they'd simply taken a beating. The fairways were all in fine shape. Probably fewer divots than you're used to seeing simply because the ground has so much hard pan; it's always been like this. Cart paths are concrete for the entire course and are in great shape. With MoWillie, you'll get a pretty fair amount of elevation change on a lot of holes. It's an enjoyable ride. The greens were a little slow but in very nice shape; a lot of them are on the very large side of the scale. I'm sure the heat and drought play a big part in how low they cut them. Undulation was present on many but I'd put it on the low end of the scale. This should help the higher handicap folks out a little as it'll be less punishing. The bunkers were all in good shape with nice, soft sand. Water hazards are few and far between for this course. Know where they are, avoid them accordingly, and all is well. Haha!

I saw water coolers at #6, #8, #11/15, and #17. I could've used one on about #3 but that's probably because I was a little dehydrated. Still, it's nice to see multiple coolers at each spot and multiple locations on each nine holes. Too many courses skimp on the coolers ... but not MoWillie.

All in all, good job on the renovation City of Austin Parks & Recreation!

Course was in great condition. Greens are back to there normal condition.

I really enjoyed playing this course. It was my 3rd time out and just keeps getting better. They don't seem to stack the course with too many people even though you will get you occasional 5-some which is annoying. Greens are in good shape with a few of them a little spotty. Overall, I would recommend this course.
