Eagle Pointe Golf Club

About
Rick Forester built Eagle Pointe in 1999, taking advantage of the distinctive natural terrain that includes abundant elevation changes and the snaking Old River. The pine-lined fairways roll through bunkers and water hazards to reach some impressive, well-conditioned greens.
The front features the most difficult rated hole in the 438-yard No. 6, which plays 419 yards from the tips and allows you to become intimate with the Old River. You'll need a solid tee shot to get in position for a decent approach and avoid the river on the left. The longish approach goes into a green surrounded on three sides by the Old River.
The back side boasts the course's signature hole. No. 18 is a 429-yard par 4, which requires a lengthy approach into a green surrounded by water.
Getting there : 30 miles east of Houston. Take I-10 east to Exit 800, turn left, proceed 3.5 miles and turn right on Eagle Pointe Dr.

Great course
Course is great. It's a bit of a ride for me to get there but worth it. My only issue this time was the clubhouse is under repair as well as the roads.
Complete challenge
This course is much tougher than it appears. Each 9 have what I call 'amen corners'. Number 6-8 on the front and the last three on the back are killers.
Number 16 is the most beautiful and absolute monster par 4. I am not sure how anyone can reach in 2. The greens are very true which makes getting on them in regulation a great chance at birdie.

Hi Michael2138301,
Thank you for reviewing our course. We appreciate hearing your opinion. We are glad you enjoyed your visit and we hope to see you soon.

Greens were in good shape and weather was very hot so not many golfers out there.

Thanks for visiting our course! We are happy to hear you enjoyed your time. Thanks for visiting again and we hope to see you soon!
Great course!
I've heard about Eagle Pointe from numerous golfers I've played with over the years and I have to say, I am rather upset I haven't made the trip earlier! This course is a gem right outside of Houston. The course was in great condition and I was very surprised with the elevation changes the course possessed. The course layout was enjoyable, although you can get into trouble on version holes if you are playing the course for the first time (there are blind shots on a few holes. The greens were rolling as true as possible and I did notice the staff was watering the heck out of the course. There is some construction going on regarding the pro shop, as the was in a temporary location (aluminum trailer in the parking lot). Overall, I WILL be making the trip back out to this course. Great course for the price!

We're glad you finally were able to make the trip out here, Alan! Thanks for the great review. We're looking forward to your next trip to our course. Hope to see you soon!
Eagle Review
By far the best course in the area. I live across from one of the best courses in the Houston area, but don't play because of $$$. Saw deer on the course for the first time during round.just wish they would offer some hot deals every now and then.
Forgot how great the course was
It has been several years since l have play the course due to distance. I was blown away by the condition. This is a must for someone who wants to play a course that may be a bit far to drive, but it is well worth it. The condition of tee boxes , fairways and greens were great. Hats off to the staff. I will certainly make the hour drive again and pass the word around.

Thanks for coming back and playing even though you're sort of far away! We really appreciate the dedication, and we're glad the course is worth it for you. You're always welcome here, so feel free to come by whenever you're in the mood for a bit of a trip. Hope to see you soon!
Best kept hidden secret in the Greater Houston Area.
Read the title. This course not only has great rates, but it is kept at near tour grade quality.

Thank so much for the excellent review! Feel free to come by and play whenever you've got golf on the mind - our door's always open for you!
Great course
I've played E.P. many times, but yesterday was the 1st time for a number of years. I have to ask myself "what took so long". Great layout not too far from Houston. Worth the drive.

We're glad to have you back! Thanks so much for coming out to the course and for leaving us a great review. We hope you get to make it out this way again soon!
Great shape
Everything is in great shape and we played in 3 and a half hours.

Glad to hear it! Thanks so much for stopping by. Come on by again soon -- our door's always open for you!
Excellent condition, well maintained course.
I have played this course a couple of times long time ago. It has been improved a lot and we really enjoyed it
We will be back pretty soon. Please keep it up.

Thanks for the excellent review! We always love hearing from our guests. Please come back whenever! We're always happy to have you.
All The Hype was True!
Course layout, greens, staff was everything I was told. I had been back in Houston area for several years and decided to play as a Birthday present to myself.

While we're thrilled to hear about the hype, we're just excited to know you had a great time on your birthday. Thanks so much for stopping by and for taking the time to leave us a review. Whether you're celebrating or not, feel free to come by any time!
Great course - -- bring bug spray-
Great course layout , great setting with changes in elevation and tree lined. Condition was as expected for this time of the year- fairways a bit thin & greens recently treated so were fairly slow. Friendly staff. A couple of deltas to keep in mind:
* Gnats are horrible - bring bug spray
* Course management allows members to play fivesomes (in my view a horrible policy that affects both members and visitors). Get ready for an extremely slow round
If you can accept the above 'deltas', this is definitely a course worth trying.
Worth the drive
Played here many times in the past and it is always in good shape. The greens were a little sandy but it didn't impact the putting. Fairways and tees in great shape. My only complaint is the pace of play. There seemed to be a few fivesomes in front of us which is surprising that the course would allow it. If you play here expect a good experience but a long round (5 to 5.5hrs).
Great
Played in a tournament here. the course was in great condition
Worth the drive from Houston
We love coming here to get away from the crowds and to enjoy a course with a bit more topography and woods than you generally find in town. The staff is friendly and there are always a atmosphere on the course. Cart path access is excellent for cart path only golf days
Word of advice: Ignore the arrows on sign directing you to hole number one! Arrow points left, but the hole is straight ahead on the path between the sign and the practice green.
Nice course. Challenging
Greens in good shape. Fairways above average. Would play again.
Good performance
Very good of public.
Cheap green fee.
I recommend this course!
Nice Track
Nice golf course, with plenty of challenge. The greens had been sanded the day I played, but they still rolled pretty well. One thing I did notice about this course is it may have some drainage issues if we get a lot of rain....
Really nice driving range and practice area....
Nice Course. Great Price
This course has some great elevation, and is really challenging with several holes featuring blind tee shots. Most approach shots require some adjustment for elevation too, which is a welcome change from the flat courses of Houston. Lots of tight fairways, water, and sand to keep it interesting. The greens were in great shape too.
Now the bad, the fairways needed some real work. There were many spots where it was just sand. One of the sandtraps had some really cool, dune-style wood pillars as a backstop. Unfortunately, they were being held up by big sheets of plywood, which made the hole look like an abandoned dump. There is also a skins game on Sunday. We got stuck behind a 5-some who had no interest in letting us play through or speeding up their own play.
All around, I really like the course. I'm not too upset about the condition of the course as it is December now. I was really irritated about the 5-some, and there were no marshals to make them speed up. Overall, great course and got a steal of a deal through Golf Now. I would definitely play again in the spring. Probably not on Sunday.
Nice layout!
Enjoyed the course. Play was a little slow but still had a good time, the greens were sneaky fast, course is maintained fairly well. 1st time here but would return.
Hi, thanks for taking the time to write us a review. It's great to hear you enjoy coming to our course-even if it is a bit far away! We apologize for the inconvenience with the clubhouse and roads. Please be assured both will be repaired in the near future. Thanks again and we hope to hear from you soon.
