About

Holes 18
Type Public
Par 71
Length 7077 yards
Slope 128
Rating 72.2

Rick Forester built Eagle Pointe in 1999, taking advantage of the distinctive natural terrain that includes abundant elevation changes and the snaking Old River. The pine-lined fairways roll through bunkers and water hazards to reach some impressive, well-conditioned greens.

The front features the most difficult rated hole in the 438-yard No. 6, which plays 419 yards from the tips and allows you to become intimate with the Old River. You'll need a solid tee shot to get in position for a decent approach and avoid the river on the left. The longish approach goes into a green surrounded on three sides by the Old River.

The back side boasts the course's signature hole. No. 18 is a 429-yard par 4, which requires a lengthy approach into a green surrounded by water.

Getting there : 30 miles east of Houston. Take I-10 east to Exit 800, turn left, proceed 3.5 miles and turn right on Eagle Pointe Dr.

Reliably good course

This course is always a great place to play. I found a deal for $25 (includind tax) on GolfNow.com, and that's just unbeatable for this course. I drove in from Beaumont and still paid less to play there (even with gas expense) than I would have paid at most of the local courses, and with the exception of one they aren't as good as EP.

Pro shop staff could be friendlier.

When checking in, we felt not welcomed at their course. Not addressed by our name or they didn't even greet us et all. First time ever feeling this way, not sure why.

Top 10 Municipal Course

A little bit of a drive but a course well playing any chance I get. It has been well maintained every time I have played there. The course layout is a lot of fun requiring a wide variety of shots.

enjoy the course very much it lived up to its rating.

thought I was back in the rolling hills of Virginia . It is clear that that course has Big oil money behind it. the greens were in excellent shape so much so that they looked part of a private course

Great course overall, excellent value.

Big, fast - but true greens. Not easy. Design of course lends to frequently lost balls, slowing down play. Don't know how common this is, but played on Oct. 6 and the mosquitoes were bad news. Take spray along.

Tough, but cool layout

Eagle Pointe is an anomaly for the Houston area. Big elevation changes, sometimes wide open, sometimes tight & challenging. Some tee boxes were under repair, but course was overall in fantastic condition. Great value & worth the drive!

Excellent course and staff

Well manicured course with true rolling greens. We got stuck behind a couple of slower groups which slowed down pace of play. Course set up promotes faster pace. Will definitely play this course again.

Nice Course

Great layout and lots of holes make you think about club selection due to elevations and doglegs. The greens were pretty good but kind of sandy. Must have worked on them recently. I just wish the Hot Deal Tee Times on GolfNow were earlier and I would play more often. Long drive back to Houston in rush hour traffic.

Interesting course

This was actually my first full round on this course having been rained out after 9 a few weeks before. It is a long drive from my NW Houston residence but worth the drive with few exceptions. Booked on GolfNow at a reduced rate from the standard weekend rate. The better price may have been the result of the greens having been aerated and top dressed within the past week or so. Even so, the greens still putted nicely but not what you would expect had it been full price.

the course had about 6 inches of rain in the days prior so there were still some wet spots on the course. Overall it drains well and did not affect too many shots. Sand traps were firm but not in a bad way.Rough is tick but not unplayable. Overall in good shape considering the past week of weather.

This course has some very good holes, very few if any "weak" holes and one3 or two I would call a little quirky but definitely a challenge for all golfing skills. You need to be ready to play as a challenging par 5 greats you on the first tee and the course remains challenging all the way to the end. I will be back.

Course was in good shape

Course was in good shape overall they are doing a little construction on a few of the tee boxes but other than that its in very good shape right now.

One tip if you play this course the greens are very firm so play approach shots in front of the pin or you might roll off the back of the green not a lot of drop and stop even with prov 1's unless it has just rained.

Amazing

This is easily in my top 3 for golf courses. From tee box to green, the course is in perfect condition. Elevated tee boxes and blind corners add to the challenge of the course. I plan on playing again soon.

Green is the thing!

The fairways are very green, along with the putting surfaces. The "greens" feel like indoor/outdoor carpet, but roll pretty well. The staff have done a great job keeping the course in great shape.
