Two long par 4s (15 & 16) make for a meaty finish. Photo submitted by BrandonTuckerGA on 06/12/2017
I have always like to play at riverside (old ACC) there are plenty of fun holes and short par fours were there average joe can have a chance to score. The only problem is there seems to not be a lot of grass on the greens but it just maybe winter conditions. I’m no expert! The history of the course and the great players who have graced the fairways and greens should be enough for any local or tourists to want to come out and play.
It is what it is
I play Riverside frequently because it’s inexpensive but it’s the cheapest option in Austin for a reason. Pretty short, tight lies in fairways, and bald greens make for sub-par conditions but it’s still a fun time as you can score fairly easily out there. Also, BYOB is a big plus.

Great Layout & Course Condition
This is the old Austin country club iand the layout is really good. The course was in excellent condition, the greens are solid grass and very fast. I highly recommend this course especially for the value and condition.
Thank you for the nice review. We are happy to hear you enjoy layout of the course. We hope you'll come out and visit us again soon.
Good time
Fun course for the $. Could use some help on the fairways on front nine. Back nine was great
Thank you for the nice rating. Please come back again soon.
good course overall
course is in good shape. the issue was some person booke a fivesome in front of us. So there was 5 plays booked one minute apart so we just stuck behind them all day and of course our pace of play was slowed because of this. The golf marshall on the first tee box apologized for it but that never should have happened ever.
Riverside Golf Course - Austin
Hidden gem! Tight course that has its subtle difficulties. Beautiful oak trees surround the course causing you to forget you’re in the middle of the city. The course is in excellent shape in the middle of a dry, hot, August.
Not Good Value
This course should cost maybe $20, always. The pace of place was terrible slow, it was the point where we had to wait for two groups at the tee box. Greens were awful. Sand was hard.
Great shape
For the tx weather wasn’t sure what shape riverside would be in, great condition we thought!
Open Fairways
Lots of open fairways to load up on the driver if desired. Course maintenance keeps the grass in check; no driving range to warm up on and no drink cart; Hopefully they have someone for that during weekend play
Well managed course
I have played this course many times and today the greens and fairways were in the best shape ever.
Riverside
I always enjoy my round at Riverside, I hear complaints of green condition but with as much rain we have been getting most courses are suffering with greens. The check in staff is always pleasant and first name usage is very courteous.
Othing special
Riverside is a pretty easy low stress track. Fairways are in good shape and rough areas are well maintained. Right now the greens are in poor shape and have been heavily sanded.
It’s coming back into shape
There is still a lot to be done at this course to make it equal other courses in the area. A few greens had some problems. Greens were cut low and were fast. Fun to play. Challenging par 5 or 2 and a couple very challenging par 4’s. Ball is gone if you hit the rough. Look forward to plying again because the price is right.
Rained out
Should have received. Rain check or credit on my card, rained like crazy
Easy Warm up or Practice
The course is set up to be fairly easy. Very short course and wide open. Just don't get stuck behind the slow guys, I passed two groups of folks during the round. Both had two guys within each. Greens were really bad on at least 6 holes. Sand was like concrete and fairways were poor. If you just want some holes to play and practice on this might be the place.
One and done
This course was brutal....many greens had bare patches or were chewed up, pace of play was so slow because of the many fivesomes playing ahead of us that we quit after nine. Can give some slack about the water on course but condition overall was poor. Spend your money elsewhere.
