A Good Value with Much Improved Course Conditions
Tatum Ridge is a fun links-style golf course. It was very windy the day I played which made club selection a challenge. The fairways have improved a great deal after all the rains we have had this season. The greens were very rolling true and depending on grain direction, they could be quite quick. I really enjoyed the true roll and speed consistency of all the greens. Sand traps need a little TLC after the hurricane rains compacted many of the sand traps but overall they were still playable. The tee areas have never been great at TR but that is a minor concern for me.. Pace of play was rather slow due to heavier than usual play on the golf course but that can happen on any course. TM dies not provide water to drink anywhere on the golf course so make sure to bring your own water or buy some at the pro shop when you register. Alas, the golf carts do not have built in GPS so bring your own range finder. Some scattered areas of a few fairways still have bare spots but much less so than last summer.. Hurricane tree debris in the outlying rough areas is still in the process of being cleaned after Milton but surprisingly the course is eminently playable at this time.
Enjoy This One
This course is a fun challenge for all skills. While it could use some help in fairways and tees, it is nothing that takes away from or makes this a non-playable course. The real star of the course are the greens. They will move quickly on you and were all in great shape.
I went mid-day in the week so pace of play was not what you might see on a weekend. I slowed myself down and still only took 3 hours. So if you want to practice for yourself, enjoy a good round, or have fun with your group then this is a good place to play.
Green's are great 👍
Pleasantly surprised of the condition after 2 back-to-back hurricanes the staff has done a wonderful job.
Course Conditions Greatly Improved
Tatum Ridge has a nice layout. The course conditions, particularly the fairways have greatly improved after three consecutive major storms have passed through this season (Debby, Helene, & Milton) which broke the long drought in our area. The rains have improved turf conditions dramatically. The greens are also in great shape albeit a little slow due to not having been cut due to the recent storm.. There is some tree debris left from Milton if you hit a wayward shot into the rough but the fairways are clear. Surprisingly the course only saw a few downed oak trees but otherwise was in relatively good condition.. The pace was excellent throughout our round. One thing the superintendent could improve on are the bunkers. Much of the sand has been compacted and/ or washed away from all bunkers on the course. Addition and light plowing of bunkers would really make a huge playability difference. Other than that there still remain a few bare areas surrounding a few of the greens which makes pitching from bare ground less than ideal (in particular holes #4 & #10. But Tatum Ridge conditions have clearly improved with this season's rains. It is a fun layout with two spectacular challenging holes (#9 & #18). I like the improvements and I will play there again.
Fun Day at Tatum Ridge
Course was laid out very well. Had plenty of challenges along the way, yet flowed nicely and felt like you could score well. Would definitely return.
Wide open
This is truly a lynx course it's wide open it has a lot of moguls. It's in good shape Fairways are a little rough, true to a lynx course. Greens are in great shape. Sandboxes are good. Nice layout. I'll definitely Play It Again
A Fair Value
Tatum Ridge had a nice pace of play at 3 1/4 h for a. 3-some. The greens were very slow since they were sanded. Tough to get a true roll when they are that slow. Fairways were hit or miss with regards to dried out areas. But they have improved from last year. The course has a good layout and is fun to play.
Disrespectful Workers
Disrespectful workers, threatened to bar me from the course. I’m 79 and I move slowly in 100 degree weather.
Friendly outing
Rating for the back nine only. Front nine closed for reasons unknown.
Back nine was wet, no ones fault but mother nature. Fairways well groomed. Greens excellent. They were cut short and rolled. Readable. Not much play on the course. We got their early and got right out.
Best value in Sarasota
Time and again I tell folks that Tatum ridge is the best value in the county. Great layout, great price, great staff, and the course is always in playable condition after getting abused. I’ve played everywhere within 50 miles of Tatum Ridge (closest to my house) and it’s always a great choice. The range is probably the only part of the course that falls under “it gets the job done” but everything else is B+ and for the price that is what makes it A+ Want something nicer, than break out your wallet, or else shut up and enjoy the greenery, the shade, and the game.
Tatum Ridge
Course probably should not have been played, because of all the rain. We appreciate getting to play it and did our best to not cause any damage. Greens were in great shape, but tee boxes need some work. Can’t complain at all for a $30 round of golf.
