White Heron Golf Club
About
White Heron Golf Club (formerly known as Ridgewood Lakes Golf Club) has had many accolades over its history and for good reason. The Ted McAnlis layout is sculptured from lush rolling land and features immaculate playing conditions year round. Water and natural wetlands come into play on 16 of our 18 holes and the resident breeze can significantly change the course from day to day. Yet despite the natural beauty and obvious pedigree of the layout, with four sets of tees the course is still enjoyable for golfers of all levels.

Fun
Challenging, with water and sand, various pars. Some thin fairways, GPS and cooler on cart. We’d definitely return!
Great Course
Too many haters on golf now with bad reviews. All of Florida has seen not much rain this month. It’s going to be dry everywhere. There were only a few tee boxes that were brunt no big deal. Great value, grounds crew are welcoming and friendly. I will continue to come back!
Thank you for the kind words and for playing White Heron Golf Club.
We are in quite the drought right now, but, we are managing and the Grounds Crew is doing a great job to make the course as enjoyable as possible.
See you next round, WHGC
White Heron
Getting to the course was not difficult from Orlando. fairly easy drive. Finding the clubhouse was not well marked, I had to ask where the front door was. Do not expect a normal club house layout. the desk and cafe were side by side with no one around to help when I arrived. Maybe it's more fully staffed for the local members, but it does not resemble any type of club membership I would want to join. Although there ar many golf cart parking places for them.
The course design I would give a good plan: lots of water and bunkers throughout. Be smart on your tees and where you want your ball to land - I recommend using their GPS system in the cart to help plan. This was the best part about the course.
Tees and Fairways were burnt in many locations - basically hitting off dirt. Probably why they are installing some irrigation systems throughout the course - so be aware that you main up in their ditches. free drop for ground under repair, but you loose the run out of your drives. Fairways - could not tell if it was fairway of rough, it all looked the same. Either no grass or high enough to call rough, no matter where you were.
Greens: speed is unpredictable. Front is slow, and back is faster. Hard to know if it was user error or just the way they are. After 3-4 holes, you figure out that it is just the way they are. But now you are 7-8 holes trying to figure out that. They are also bumpy - similar to putting on the cover of a golf ball, not smooth. Again, adding to the metal challenge of how to putt.
Bunkers - do not expect them to be raked or smooth. Foot prints everywhere. Not sure golfers ahead of me understand to take responsibility to clean their marks for those coming after them. They do a decent job in the fairway with sand, but nothing for bunkers. Since there are several throughout the course, you will be in bunkers! They are very soft and powder like, plenty of sand under your ball.
I will mark this as played but not one I will return to.
Thank you for playing White Heron Golf Club,. I'm sorry your experience wasn't what you were looking for.
This time of year you pay a discounted rate because of work being performed on the course as is with most Florida public courses.
You are correct that when you play late in the day there will be a lot of footprints from the days usage in the Bunkers.
Hopefully you'll try us again and have a better experience,
Thank you, WHGC
Nice course
I really like this course and I do recommend it. I love the fact that they turned the nines around.
First time at white Heron
Nice layout, things were a little dry but the grounds crew were working on fixing irrigation issues. The greens were quick and ran true. Well worthwhile, I will likely play again.
Bad Condition
The course was in very poor condition guess due to lack of watering. The greens in bad shape. Tee boxes in poor condition and the sand traps were more dirt than sand
Dreadful
This course was in appalling condition, don't go there
Course in bad shape
The golf course was in bad shape. The fairways were almost down to dirt very few areas that had grass. The greens and the tee boxes were basically OK. no water on the course and no courtesy cart
With the course in it’s current condition the rates were too high
Course was overpriiced
Course was extremely dry. Greens were totally unreceptive. Price was too high for such a dog track.
Poor course condition and slow pace
Very bad maintenance, dead grass all over the course, including the fairway. Green is in ok condition. Pace of play is very slow, no course Marshall in more than 5 hours play.
Thank you for playing White Heron Golf Club. This is definitely a great test of golf and shot making.
See you next time, WHGC
