About
White Heron Golf Club (formerly known as Ridgewood Lakes Golf Club) has had many accolades over its history and for good reason. The Ted McAnlis layout is sculptured from lush rolling land and features immaculate playing conditions year round. Water and natural wetlands come into play on 16 of our 18 holes and the resident breeze can significantly change the course from day to day. Yet despite the natural beauty and obvious pedigree of the layout, with four sets of tees the course is still enjoyable for golfers of all levels.

Golfer Reviews
Unplayable
Played in May this year, it was great. Went back yesterday and was shocked to find it was even open. Fairways so wet, hard to find a dry bit to place the ball. The greens were poor and scruffy. Persevered for 9 holes then gave up, took nearly 3 hours just for 9 as everyone was losing their plugged balls. Buggies were allowed to drive everywhere which was churning up the course, it was a mess.
Don’t bother
We had a tee time today for 18 holes at White Heron, we did see the airification alert and also looked at reviews which stated the greens had been aerated 8/30 so we assumed wrongly that the course would be ok, we were very wrong.
On arrival we were told we would have to play the front nine twice and obviously we hadn’t read the note on your website, I told them there was no note but he assured me there was and I hadn’t read it. I have just looked again and there is no mention of this I can see.
The course is in an awful condition the fairways haven’t been cut and it is like playing out of the rough, there is no mention of cart paths only until you get halfway down the fairway and the buggy tells you cart path only and comes to a stop.
In our opinion the course should not be open as there are workman all over the place.
We give every notice to consumers of our maintenance on the course and we never mislead players about the conditions. You booked a very inexpensive Hot Deal which should have been your first indication of course conditions and you could have called the course for more information, second when you booked, a red course alert and aerification alert pops up, third we were aerating the fairways and tee boxes which takes about 2 weeks to heal, fourth you were told when you checked in about the 9 holes twice (hence the cheap price) and cart path only (which with any course is day to day), it was your option to play or not to. I'm not understanding your comment about workers on the course as that is normal when your doing course maintenance. Golf Courses for the most part do not intentionally try to deceive the players it does nothing for our reputation and future business, our goal and mission is for every player to have a great time, no matter what their score is and to walk away feeling that day was a memorable experience. I'm sorry your day did not turn out like you planned, but believe me that was not our intention.
Thank you, WHGC
Nice for the Price
Course was soaked. Nothing can be done about that, it is Florida. Most greens were in good shape while some were sandy and had weed patches in them. Hated the crab grass on the fringe of fairway ( I know hit the fairway) it was very difficult to play out of. Everyone from the guys in the pro shop to the starter were super friendly and the drinks from the bar were not lacking in anyway. Overall good day for myself and my friend. Challenging course for me, but very fun.
Thank you for playing White Heron Golf Club and thank you for the honest review. We are in the midst of our yearly maintenance and golf course changes. These are necessary so that we can have a top course throughout the year. White Heron is one of the most challenging golf courses in Central Fl. which will test every part of your game. See you soon, WHGC
Enjoyable course layout
Aeration had just taken place the previous week so I can over look that on any course. Staff in pro shop extremely friendly very enjoyable course layout and great value. Would love to return in future after Aeration I'm sure I'd enjoy it more.
Thank you for playing White Heron golf Club.
Sorry about the course maintenance, but it's a necessary evil and we have such a short window to do it in with the Florida weather.
We'll be in top shape soon, so I hope to see you back here.
Thanks, WHGC
Nice design
This course used to be called Ridgewood Lakes back when they opened it got a nice layout friendly staff if you paid for hot deal and it’s not busy they will let you tee off. I hate the courses nobody there and they make you wait till the time.
It’s got a lot of water and there’s alligators roaming about, but don’t go in the woods or wet😄
Thank you for playing White Heron Golf Club our goal is to make everyone's golf experience as enjoyable as possible.
Hope to see you soon, WHGC
Best of Luck
This course has a great layout. So sad that I will not recommend this course to anyone.
The tee boxes and greens were a disaster.
I could have played in my backyard and had better conditions for free.
There was no water on the course and it was 98 degrees. This is not a shady course - we were hot and miserable after slow play.
Staff is not super welcoming.
Hopefully the owners can change things up.
It has potential.
Thank you for playing White Heron Golf Club,
We apologize that your Golfing experience wasn't what you expected.
We pride ourselves on having the Friendliest and welcoming Staff in Central Florida, so when I hear there was an issue we would like to know about it.
The course is undergoing it's yearly maintenance and aeration projects, hence the low price to play. Like most courses we do not put water coolers on the course do to potential contamination, but we did have on course cart service, an ice machine and water at the clubhouse, coolers on the carts, plus a restaurant which would give every golfer plenty of hydration for the round. Please try us again in the near future and we promise you'll have a better experience.
Thank you, WHGC
Decent course for the value
Ground was soggy on some tee boxes and the greens were in not so great shape. Overall for the money, the course is decent. Staff were very friendly
Too much walking
The course was in beautiful shape a great value for the money charged however, the carts stop too far away from the greens for all guys to walk. We quit after exhausted in the heat.
White Heron
Play here frequently. Good value for the money. Pace of play in the summer is good. I like the layout. I had a hole in one on hole 17 in September while playing with some friends. It's a 30 minute drive for me but I find it worth while .
Disappointed
Course conditions were terrible. Fairways long and patchy, rough is just sand and weeds, bunkers were pretty good condition, tee boxes very cut up and just general not great condition. Greens were bumpy, sandy, patchy and need a lot of work. I enjoyed the course layout was very challenging, a lot of hazards and water, but the conditions just ruined the round. The carts were nice with gps and yardages. Feel like some of the reviews are made up here and I would not recommend the course right now with the current conditions.
We would like to add that the conditions are far from what you've reported. The course is very nice and healing nicely from the aeration process.
Thank you WHGC
Thank you for playing White Heron Golf Club.
I'm sorry your day didn't turn out like you expected, we are in our August maintenance month and we have been aerating the entire course, not an excuse just an explanation. This is an extremely challenging course which requires a lot of maintenance and grooming. We have discounted our rates during these times to make up for the conditions.
Please try us again in the near future when the course has fully healed.
Thank you, WHGC
THE WORST COURSE I EVER PLAYED AT.
I have never played at a course so bad in my life. The tee boxes were destroyed, the greens chewed up, and the smell, oh my God. Hole 5 smells like straight up sewage. Myself and 3 buddies literally almost puked on the par 5. Oh, we had dirty ice given to us as well. This is an excuse of a golf course. I honestly think it’s the worst golf course in the entire state of Florida. Definitely the worst in the Davenport / Orlando nearby area. Jesus Christ, I wanna throw up just thinking about the smell on hole 5,
Great day
If your in central Florida and looking to play great place for you . Rental clubs available with an amazing staff. Great practice areas. Course can be played long for those scratch golfers and small enough with smart shots needed to score well on this course. A few years ago rated most improved course and they continue to upgrade .
Thank you for playing White Heron Golf Club. We greatly appreciate the kind words and yes this is one of the most challenging courses in Central Fl. The staff works very hard both inside and outside to insure a great day of golf.
Hope to see you soon, WHGC
The guy that collected the cart after our 9 holes said they hadn't had rain and the course had been watered! Have played 3 other courses nearby and all in great condition.
Thank you for playing White Heron Golf Club, as I have explained before in previous reviews the notifications are in place for course alerts and it was your option to play here.
Golf Courses should not be faulted due to wet conditions and maintenance issues because of Mother Nature.
We have the majority of players enjoying themselves and playing quality golf with out any problems, hopefully next time you'll have a better experience.
Thank you, WHGC
