White Heron Golf Club
About
White Heron Golf Club (formerly known as Ridgewood Lakes Golf Club) has had many accolades over its history and for good reason. The Ted McAnlis layout is sculptured from lush rolling land and features immaculate playing conditions year round. Water and natural wetlands come into play on 16 of our 18 holes and the resident breeze can significantly change the course from day to day. Yet despite the natural beauty and obvious pedigree of the layout, with four sets of tees the course is still enjoyable for golfers of all levels.

A bit disappointed
For $100 we all expected better course conditions. Fairways were average. Greens were fine. Course was challenging for sure. Overall 3 stars.
Challenging but fun
I played White Heron for the first time in years. The course was in good shape and the greens were solid. The course is challenging with a lot of water but is a fun test. The owners have reversed the layout so what used to be number 10 is now number 1. That puts some challenging holes upfront but gives a breather on the back. All in all my group of 15 handicappers liked the experience.
Great Condition
Always a pleasure to play, course layout is a challenge but fair, and the condition was very good in comparison to the several courses we have played on this trip
White Heron
Great layout in fabulous condition. Course has lots of water and some tight fairways.shot management is very important. Plays tough in the wind.
Interesting layout
Check-in: Bag unloaded my car directly to the cart, then followed me to the parking lot with the cart. Gave directions to the pro shop, driving range and 1st and 10th tees. Pro shop process was smooth and efficient. All staff were friendly and smiling.
Starter: Told us right away that he was a few minutes behind and suggested we putt. As a first time guest, I asked for his advice. He said most of the hazards are on the sides with few forced carries. Concentrate on direction over distance.
We started about 10 minutes late. There was a twosome in front of us. It was just me and my wife and the starter sent us out as a twosome, which pleased my wife. I expect that we would have been paired as a foursome on a busier day.
Conditions: Firm and fast. Short grass on the fairways required hitting the ball first. Fat shots were penalized. Greens were firm. I learned to play for the front of the green to allow my approach shots to run out. Greens were fast enough that downhill putts challenged me to keep from rolling several feet past the hole. Starter guessed they were rolling at 10 or so.
Miscellaneous: GPS on the carts was VERY useful. Being able to identify distance to hazards and choose clubs accordingly saved a lot of lost balls.
Overall: Very enjoyable experience. Course values shotmaking over power. Six sets of tees accommodates most golfers. Possibly longer hitters may be frustrated because it takes driver away on several holes.
Great conditions
Fun course, great layout. The course conditions were in very good shape. Would definitely play here again
First time but not the last
I was skeptical in booking white heron today but we were pleased with the course and will make it a regular stop on our yearly Florida golf trip. Thank you
If the price is right…
I wanna acknowledge the positive in this course that I’ve been playing for over 20 years. The layout is fantastic. A lot of fun and a lot of variety. There is a clear attempt to do as much as they possibly can with the greens which are OK. Like so much of Central Florida The lies are thin and sometimes bare. I would say that based on supplying demand this course is a legitimate $60 course and one would consider it a good value. When it gets over that I’m not playing it for anymore Than that. In fairness to the good folks at white Heron, I could see the same thing about a half a dozen other courses in the Orlando Kissimmee area. 60 bucks and under, and I can forgive a lot of conditions that I would otherwise feel resentful about if I had paid more than that. If you’re paying $90 to play this course, Highland reserve, Kings Ridge, legends, then it would be hard to justify the rough edges of the course.
Excellent course
Very cool features requiring you to play every club in your bag. Greens were in great condition. Wildlife was a bonus
