Slow play and sprinklers
The greens were quite slow but rolled fairly well. It was a challenging outing due to gusty winds. We followed an extremely slow foursome the entire round. We normally play in 3:30 but our round dragged out to 4:40 behind the foursome who never once offered us to play through. To finish the round the sprinklers kicked up on the #17 green as we were putting and they were also in full force on the #18 green, all around 2:30pm. Why?! No maintenance crew around monitoring so I'm not sure what the issue was, but we also noticed four other sprinkler heads across the course that were flowing and flooding the area, although not spraying about. The day turned out to be average at best, and fairly poor even by Tanglewood expectations. It was certainly not worth the $33+ regular rate. Looking forward to playing again next month and hoping the course has corrected the slow play and sprinkler issues.
Starting to green up.
Still winter conditions, making for tight lies. Greens in better shape than many comparable local courses.
ok
this was in Feb, so most of the grass was dormant, large sandy areas where grass was not growing, greens were slow but ok, for the price was a good deal, would play again
Great facility - course needs water and care
I know February is not prime grass season, but this course was drier than normal and needed attention. The facility and maintenance thereof was excellent. People we encountered were helpful and friendly.
It looked as if there were no greenskeeper, though.
Frigid weather - open course
Temps were around 40° and breezy so we had the course practically to ourselves; I saw only two other groups the entire round. The tees and fairways are in good condition. The greens are in need of mowing; they had grown enough to where the ball was influenced more by the grain rather than the break. This made putting frustrating. However, it was well worth the $20 Hot Deals tee time. Our twosome zoomed through the course as it was practically empty. The lady in the pro shop was extremely nice, and the new complimentary course books are a nice gesture and added bonus.
January Golf at Tanglewood
Nice little course that on the day we played was not in the best of shape. Greens were shaggy and slow. I noticed a couple holes had weeds in the greens. Cups looked as if they had been in the same position for a while. Clubhouse personnel were extremely friendly and helpful. The starter informed us of a couple problems people have navigating the course and he was correct. There are about 3 times where it’s not clear where the next hole is. Overall it was an ok course to play. I may go back in the spring when conditions are better
Pleasantly surprised
Everyone was very nice. The parking lot was packed so I assu.ed we would be in for a long day, wasn't so. 3 of us got through in 3.5hrs. Cool track, neat personality to the course. I will def come back when I visit again!
Excellent place to play
The golf experience here was fantastic. They could use a bigger snack bar but the prices were very reasonable. The course was very fun and challenging.
Nice course
Great day on the course. Good value for the money. Pro shop teemed me up with three locals to help me with course management. Greens were in good shape. Only problem was that they let fivesomes out which slowed down play especially on a busy day.
Fun day but inconsistent green speeds
We were surprised by the speed of the practice green - much faster than normal Tanglewood greens. This proved true on hole 1 as well, but quite slower and overall inconsistent and frustrating on the other 17 holes. However, the greens rolled smooth which helped to counter the speed issues. The #4 par 3 tee box is basically bare sand but the remainder of the course was typical Tanglewood condition - nothing fancy but playable for the price. So long as you play fairways and greens then you'll have good turf and playable lies.
Great Course
Course is in excellent shape. Greens are rolling nice right now.
