Rockledge Country Club, hole 18. Photo submitted by TimGavrichGP on 03/18/2019
Classic Layout, Needs Work
Overall, Rockledge CC is an interesting place to play. The greens are in excellent condition, roll true and the old school crowns make them unique in the area. The fairways are a bit sparse and not what you want. The bunkers are being rebuilt and repaired. They should be very nice next year. I loved the layout with classic dog legs and lots of mature, stately Live Oaks. The concrete cart paths are in very poor condition and need to be replaced. The gravel paths complete the system and are very noisy. Putting green is nice, but small and the driving range looks like pasture. In totality, it makes a very different experience for the typical local courses in Brevard County.
Great greens however pace of play was slow
First time at this course. I Driving range, decent. Pro shop, Decent. Tee boxes were good-ish. Fairways good-ish. Greens, really good, better than most in the area. However, the pace of play was very slow, almost painful. I will play this course again. Only complaint besides pace of play was they are a little too casual on the starter process and pairing up golfer with their tee times. Overall, good course. Thanks
A Very Refreshing Atmosphere; Nice Course
As some of us who book on Golf Now know there are some course who don't treat GN customers very good. It may be the attitude at the front desk or holding you to the very minute of your tee time even though the course is relatively empty. You Get NONE of that at RCC. The front desk gentleman was very friendly, even going to get me out before a group of 16 regulars. As I passed one group waiting to go to the first tee a young man gave me a "have a great round sir". Holy cow Batman! That set my whole tone of the round to an upswing. Three holes later I caught up to a threesome who were enjoying a leisurely round but made the courteous gesture of letting me play through. Refreshing after lots of rounds of selfish golfers who displayed no etiquette whats so ever. Did I mention the course was in great shape? Hadn't visited RCC in over 3 years but will be back in the next few months, you can be sure of that. Thank you!
Well maintained course. GREAT Staff
First time playing Rockledge CC. Great course conditions. Greens were rolling true. Tight, tree lined fairways with danger on most sides from the tee boxes. Course is long enough to use driver but a straight 3w off the tee will do just fine.
Only real opportunity for improvement I noticed was signage and directions to the next tee box. The flow of the course was pretty confusing and I was three point turning a lot. Either way, I am making this my go to course for my monthly visit to my in laws in Rockledge. Looking forward to the next round!
Nice course!
Greens were lightening fast which is hard to find in this county for the most part..And in perfect condition I must say..Carts were supper nice and comfy and clean all bunkers had sand in them..Bravo! RCC...
Nice course but…… beware !
Visiting from UK and our 1st time playing Rockledge GC.
I booked a tee time on the clubs website post 11am at an advertised rate of c$41(+tax)
We arrived at the pro shop and was told the rate was $49(+tax) and the price quoted on the website was wrong and if I wanted to question the rate I could talk to the manager. Not sure about US law but I would like to think, if a price is quoted it ought to be honoured. Anyway, I offered to meet them half way and we agreed on a price.
So those booking after 11am on their website you may get a shock when you arrive at the .course.
They continue to offer this incorrect rate on their website
By the way, the course was nice to play
Decent course
It was a new course i havent played in my area. It was fun to play a nee layout. Tee boxes were ok. Fairway grass was kind of long. Might be cause of the heat. The greens were dry and slow. Not bad though. Rough was mostly cut weeds. It was a pretty course with a lot of established trees. All of the par 3s were the same length. The staff was amazing! Water coolers at every other hole. Not a lot of hazard was nice but fairways were thin. I would recommend and would play again. Oh and the pace of play was spot on. We finished our round in 3 hours and 20 minutes
On the Florida historic golf trail...
Thanks to the staff at Rockledge for working me in asap after i mistakenly arrived 2 hours early for my tee time. I appreacated that. Former Head pro George Wilson is credited as the architect of 9 holes here . But course is very similer to the Donald Ross courses i`ve played Here in central florida, Compares very favorably to Dunedin CC, Daytona Beach South, Palatka GC , Lake Wales CC , And Mark Bostic GCin Gainsville. Tight driving areas
and uplifted and canted greens make the yardage decieving difficult. This is classic golf at its best and quite challenging.Even though i am a golf history nerd I really did enjoy myself, and definetly recommend this golf course.
Fun course great greens
First time playing here, course looks pretty well maintained. The greens are clean and smooth. Staff was friendly. Definitely coming back for another round.
Great time
Good course in great shape. Very slow greens but i think it’s a rarity. Otherwise great time. Will play again.
Course in great condition...greens are fast and tricky to read.
Few-frills, Old Florida golf
Rockledge is not going to knock golfers' socks off with a memorable layout, but this semi-private club (some afternoon availability) - one of the oldest in the state - is a pleasant place for a game. The fairways are flat and tree-lined and the greens tend to be pushed-up and fairly small, which will give your chipping and short putting a workout. What is most appealing about Rockledge is that it is relatively unencumbered by housing. There are homes around the periphery of the property and out-of-bound tightens the throat on the tee shots on two par fives, but for the most part the accuracy required off the tee has to do more with trees than white stakes. Water is also fairly minimal. The course has hosted the local Platinum Coast Invitational amateur tournament for decades.
Liked the course... easy to walk... not special in any way
The course was fun to walk... in a rather noisy neighborhood. It is showing some wear and tear and the facilities are average. Still, it was fun to play for the summer... but I wouldn't go out of my way to play it. It seems to be struggling to keep its facilities up to snuff.
beautifull layout
Fairways were a dream to hit from, excellent condition.
A couple of the greens need work, but the majority were the best I've played in the area.
Possibly the friendliest staff in Florida.
