Greens
Been playing Baytree golf course for at least the last 8 years. The greens were in perfect condition !!
Great course for the price
Course is just as good as more expensive courses I’ve played. Handful of rough spots in fairways and tee boxes but nothing major. Greens are very good and roll nice. Can’t beat it for the price.
Mixed Bag
Great, VERY fast, and smooth greens! However, aside from a few decent tee boxes, the rest of the course conditions were very poor. Holes, bumps, ridges, gouges, ruts, and dirt spots all over the fairways, with many spots having no grass at all. Moved the ball up to 25 yards to find a lie in spots. The area was hit hard by cold weather, but other courses in the area managed to stay in good shape. The cart guy, beverage girl and starter were great!
Slowest Round in my Life
Booked a 4some on Golf Now, get to the course, that was an experience also, Pro shop says you should have booked directly with us and saved money! Anyway we get our carts and the starter says we are backed up and your start will be 15-20 minutes delayed, ok, but the good thing is the course is playing 4 hours! Cool I’m good with that. Well we waited on every single hole, 5-10 minutes for a 5 and a half hour round, it was torture! And we get a notice on the gps that carts needed to be back by 6 pm, we were, barely….
Baytree
One of the better courses in Melbourne. Excellent facilities and great staff. The course is challenging enough for low handicap and a good learning curve for high handicap like myself. The greens were fast throughout, but you can tell they get a lot of use, some balding spots but very playable and sneaky pin positions that have variable levels of sloping. The fairways are hilly so ball placement is key. Overall a very fun and challenging course.
Good course conditions
This course coming around very nicely. Tee boxes were in good shape. Greens were great to putt on. Fairways are really good a couple of bare spots here and there. Very playable conditions.
I love Baytree! (First review after 100's of rounds)
What can I say after playing 400 rounds (give or take) in the last 15 years? Baytree is always fun. It's not perfect, but what counts is perfect for me. Tee boxes and greens are excellent and the greens roll nicely. The fairways are good with only a few areas that need some work. The rough is weedy, but that doesn't bother me. Baytree challenges golfers to play smart, target golf on many holes. Driver will get you into trouble on holes 3,6,9,11,14, &18, so tee off with a fairway wood or iron to avoid penalties. I play the Blue tees with friends and the Gold tees when I'm single. Staff is friendly and respectful. Anyone that complains about Baytree is either a snob or they got their butt handed to them by playing "grip & rip" and let the course beat them. I play during the week so I rarely run into pace of play issues.
Great Course
Nice layout, good condition, friendly staff. Would definitely play here again.
Good Course
Have played this course in the past and it is a good course. Challenging layout and in good condition. Only problem with this course is that there is ALWAYS a slow pace of play. The rangers need to get out on the course and speed up the slowpokes.
No rangers. Get ready for a long painful round.
Got an 11:30 tee time and according to the tee sheet a lot of slots were open and now I know why. The group of 3 in front of us were more into drinking and searching for golf balls in the bushes than playing golf. After watching 2 of them take 8+ shots on a par 3 their 3rd emerged from his cart and decided to play his ball where he also took 8+ shots. I don't mind bad play in golf but I do expect to play quicker than that. Then after the turn we managed to lose them just to get into another twosome where a woman and man decided to have on course golf lessons. Continuously taking 5-6 each and walking the whole hole while they leave their cart back at the tee box! After talking to them they said they play like this all the time with no issue! Of course they do because they do not have anyone to keep them playing up to pace! 40 minutes per hole is just a brutal round killer that no one wants deal with. Get some rangers to keep pace of play and maybe it would be worth it other then that avoid at all cost!
Greens and Tee boxes were in great shape, the fairways need work.Quiet a lot of bare patches also lots of no go areas because of wettness.
