Editor's Note: Course closed and reopen as The Yards.

The Oak Bridge Club (formerly known as Ponte Vedra Golf & Country Club at Sawgrass) in the heart of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., sits adjacent to the famed Players Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass. The 6,413-yard, par-70 Arnold Palmer design features water on every hole, tree-lined fairways and undulating greens. Oak Bridge favors accuracy and strategy over power and distance. New owners have upgraded the clubhouse and introduced a new restaurant, The 3 Palms Grille. A tennis center is home to 10 Har-Tru clay courts.

Wet course

I have played this course several times over the past few years. While golfing on Thursday, the course was holding water and wa generally soggy. It last rained on Tuesday. I will allow an extra day after a r significant rain event before booking my next round at Oak Bridge.

Horrible Customer Service

I arrived at the course about 30 minutes early to my 8:00 AM tee time. I check in and pay my $37 fee. As I am sitting on the tee box waiting to tee off I’m advised I have to put my bag on a cart with a threesome ahead of me and play with them if I play. The starter had agreed for me to be a onesome as I had obligations later and needed to get done quickly. I was immediately advised by staff that I would not be allowed to play as a onesome. I did not mind playing with the theee other guys but the way the staff interacted with me completely made me lose all interest in playing golf at their course. I was refunded my greens fee. I asked the manager in the pro shop where the disconnect was and he stated some party line they have to give about no course in America let’s a onesome play by themselves on a Saturday morning. I beg to differ as I do it regularly. If they had advised me of a policy at the time of booking or even when I checked in that would have been okay. But to tell me that as I am about to tee off is crazy. It should also be noted that several other players, I’m assuming members, were riding alone in a cart. However I collected my money and left the course. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. I was looking forward to playing what looked like a very nice course. Guess I will have to settle for me tee time at TPC Sawgrass later in the day.

Poor greens.

Convenient for locals, but the big problem is the poor greens. Some were awful. This is what happens when someone pays too much for a course and then tries to make their money back buy selling off a few holes for commercial use. When the community was developed, many homeowners paid a premium to get a lot on the golf course. When the hole behind their home becomes a commercial space, do you think they are going to get anything back?

Middle of Winter

It's well worth the money to play this course. If you like long Par 3's this is the place to go. 6 Par 3's on this course and none of them are under 150 yards. 5 of them are closer to 200 yards than 150.

This is one of the only courses with water on all 18 holes that can be payed for a reasonable price in the USA.

It has been a tough winter for north Florida. Oakbridge has its crew out working and you will see them from sunrise to sunset. Greens are in a winter state but playable and about 80% normally fast summer condition. Fairways are waiting to regrow, ruff is deep but being reduced on a daily basis. My only problem is sand traps lacking sand where the staff has let the ruff get so deep to stop balls from rolling in that you can be 20 feet off green and will find 3 balls before your own.

Hidden jewel

Oakbridge since the new owners took over is as good as most public courses in NEFL. I can always get a tee time that suits me and the price is great. Love the layout and course/green conditions are good.

Pretty good

This is a fairly good course for the money, but the greens could be better. They were a little brown and bumpy, but the rest of the course is beautiful and well maintained. However, I did play in mid-winter which may of caused the sub(par) greens!!! The only other grudge i held about this course were that we bought a bucket of balls for $7.00 and it only had about 25 or so balls. I would of liked nore balls for that price. Otherwise, this course is a great value for the money and I do recommend playing here.

Very good value

In the past 2-3 years under new ownership the course has improved dramatically. I’d say of public courses in NEFL it’s as good as Windsor Park, Julington and Cimarrone.

Disappointed in conditions

Greens were ok but the overall conditions were poorly maintained. sand traps dirt&water, roughs overgrown and long. Was not a fun day. Heard they are going to reduce the number of holes to 12 so they can build an senior care facility.

This course has water on all 18 holes. Most left and right a few in front.

Currently in transition to winter climate change. Greens are in reasonable shape (best in years). Fairways are losing grass. Fringes and 1st cut of ruff are nice. 2nd cutt of ruff is deep and will cost a shot. The staff is working hard (most employees I've seen since 1990's).

Tournaments

I like playing the course but you all at golf now should communicate with the course and say on your tee times that a tournament is in process at the course. I was sitting for at least 10 minutes between holes to tee off

great people, improving course

It pains me that the course will be chopped to 12 holes in a year or so - I want to play 18 and if they allowed a replay of 6 more holes that'd slow down play for sure.

I'd rather play 18 of medium quality that 12 pristine holes.

As for today the course is looking decent - couple rough greens on the back nine and some Tee boxes could use some love but the price and pace are right.

The employees are the best you'll find anywhere adding to a pleasant outing

This course has water on all 18 holes. Most left and right a few in front.

Fun layout; 3 par 3's and 2 par 5's on each side for a par 70. Par 3's are tough, and par 5's are a challenge too. Its in best shape in 3 years.

Very good public course

Very nice course. I played the back tees which measure 6413 yards. There are 6 par 3's and 4 par fives for par 70. The holes are all tough with no short gimme holes. Your approach shots face bunkers hiding the pins and if you bail out you are in a pond or stream. The greens were slow and a little shaggy but among the best of the public courses I have played in the area for that price. I got on as a single and joined up with fun fellow golfer and had a good time.
