Jacksonville Beach Golf Club

About
The newly revamped Jacksonville Beach Golf Club, built in 1959, is one of the only public access courses on Jacksonville's Beaches. The golf course was originally designed by Sam Snead.
The changes at Jacksonville Beach Golf Club began with the rebuilding and modernizing of more than half the greens on the golf course, along with some new bunkers and bulkheads to add to the already beautiful look.
The 18-hole golf course measures 6,510 yards from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course rating is 71.9, with a slope rating of 126.

Rude Pro Shop Staff, Nice Muni...I'd give 0 stars for Staff Friendliness if I could
I've been playing JBGC for about 6 years now. It's a great muni course, especially for being on the beach.
The biggest downfall of this course is the pro shop staff. They are always rude and seem to always be having a bad day for whatever reason. From the annoyed tone of voice that you receive over the phone, to walking into the pro shop and being talked to like you've never played golf before just to check-in/buy range balls/gear/etc.
The cart guys are the friendliest of the bunch. If this course could get their staff through some customer service/hospitality classes (which is the category golf courses fall under) I believe it would go a long way. Or have the cart guys take over the pro shop..then again, doing so would probably just make the one decent bunch of employees at JBGC turn into a bunch of sour pusses.
However, as much as I complain through reviews or in person (like I've done numerous times), I don't expect any changes because the course tee sheet is always loaded, and they are clearly more concerned about money than providing an enjoyable customer experience.
Yee been warned, don't expect ANY customer service from the pro shop. Per usual, the cart guys deserve credit where it's due from offering to clean your clubs to some friendly conversation.
Great conditions & value
Great public course in very good condition; greens very good. Nice traditional layout. Played in 4 hours; great deal for seniors @ $28 incl cart
Love this course
Even with the greens being aerated still a great course
Course was updated some time ago.
Very challenging course that is in great condition and fun to play!
Revitalized Course Excellent
The updated/ revitalized course is perhaps the best public course I’ve played on. Clubhouse, cart and starter Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Carts with electronic range finding touch screens for planning shots were a plus
Horse shoes, hand grenades, and putt putt Jax beach golf
Course is in great shape but really close holes and ball runs off...Still putting two people in cart not supporting states distancing requirements...They extended pvc green cups...Kind of dumb....Other courses have simply raised the bottom of cup so you can putt out...sounds like it is someone’s weird approach to support virus mandates but then they are putting 2 people in a cart...must be that in Jax Beach one person is in charge of “holes” and someone else in charge of carts....absent management is often an issue...????could it be...message is don’t put your fingers in the same hole but snuggle up in cart until next opportunity...sorry couldn’t pass it up...
good maintenance of course...
New layout is great.
If people would learn to repair their ball marks this place would be nearly perfect for a municipal. Love the new GPS enabled golf carts.
Paid for eighteen holes and only played nine. Course conditions were great. Pace of play was extremely slow. Cost 40$ to play, not worth it. Other than the good course conditions, the speed of play was slow and the biggest reason I didn’t play the other nine holes was because they pulled half the sleeve of the cups(or holes) out so you couldn’t putt the balls in the holes. COMPLETELY RUINS THE WHOLE POINT OF GOLF !!! Was a MAJOR buzzkill, lost interest in playing,. ABSOLUTELY BLEEPING STUPID. Won’t play there until they put it back the way it should be. Don’t try to use the corona virus as an excuse to ruin golf at what is usually a good place to play. Lost my business for now.
Great golf with my grandson
It's Brody's birthday. He just turned eleven. I gave Brody a round of golf at Jax for his birthday present. Many thanks to Kevin at check in. When I told him about Brody's birthday he said wait right here. He came back with two new golf towels for Brody and I. He also gave Brody a golf book and wished us well on this special day. To make things even better, we were paired with a true gentleman named Jack. We had a wonderful day together. Kevin truly was a class act. I'm from Canada, but I'll be back to Jax golf. I would recommend this track if you are in the Jacksonville area. Thank you Jax golf !!!
Definite do over
This a great course and it was in very good condition. The greens were great, fast and very tricky—undulations with significant drop offs. Just enough water to keep it interesting. They even have course layout with GPS on the carts! The staff was very friendly and so were the people I met in the course. Very relaxing round. Will definitely be back!
Great course
Jax beach is in great shape. It is well managed both course conditions and pace of play.
Loved it. It's a fair course. Definitely water on this course that can get you in trouble. Greens can be tricky. Some infinity edges that my ball rolled right off and I to water. That was no fun, but I gotta hit better shots. Now that I know that about the greens, I'd take less shots at green and more rolls onto the green. I am going to try to play it again before I leave Jacksonville.
Jax beach golf club
Great value for the greens fee.
This is a challenging course with greens what will reward good putting .
Charged more upon arrival
I was charged more at the coarse then what was told to me upon booking. It would be nice if you all would get on the same page. Rather the the bait and switch feeling that doesn’t sit well. Is it the golf now app, the golf coarse or the attendant at the desk making sure he gets a tip?? Somethings just don’t add up. Aside that, it was a good day
Good Public Course
First time I'd played Jax Beach since the reno. Course layout changes were interesting and made sense. Greens were is pretty good shape although course gets a lot of play and there were lots of ball marks. Fairways were not as good, lots of threadbare patches and unfilled divots.
Great day
First time I’ve played this course in years and since the renovations. Course was in fantastic shape. Love what they have done and glad I played. I will be back soon. Hopefully, the wind won’t be blowing in 30 mph range like today.
