Westridge Golf Club
About
Westridge Golf Club is a challenging layout designed by Robert Muir Graves, a familiar name in California golf. Graves has designed many of the state's most popular courses including Boundary Oak in Walnut Creek and Quail Lodge Golf Club in Carmel. At just under 6,600 yards, Westridge G.C. is seemingly short but what it lacks in length it makes up for with more than 60 sand bunkers strategically placed alongside the narrow fairways and sloping greens. There are also some holes that offer interesting risk-reward opportunities for adventurous big hitters. The elevation changes throughout provide difficult uphill and downhill shots that will depend almost entirely on proper club selection. Water hazards also come into play on four holes. The golf course finishes with a dramatic par 5 that plays downhill against the winds to a rolling fairway and then into a fiercely protected green.

Beware-horribly maintained
The course seemed like a good value, nice views and length, clubhouse looked nice. Rumor has it that the club has been for sale 2yrs+ and management is barely keeping it alive. Any muni around is in way better condition. The rough and waste areas are completely ignored, tee boxes and fairways were fine compared to the huge disregard for the rest of course.
Book as last resort, definitely don’t take a client.
This course needs so much work and is not worth the time/money
Look, I am all for challenging courses but this course is narrow and a good shot could end up out of bounds.. pace of place is slow and the course in general is basically dirt and hard grass. The Marshall drives around like a Federal agent just eyeing you.. dude get a life.
I wouldn’t recommend this course or go there again as long as I live
Pace of place was very poor, around 3 hours for front nine. Got to 10th tee, 4 groups on hole and we quit.
Fairway and tees were in awful condition. Will never play this golf course again.
Sad day on what was once a good tract
I’ve played Westridge 4-5 times over the years. My son in law showed interest in playing it, so I booked it. I had heard it was for sale, or possible to be closed in favor of condos. Well, close it now, or fix it! For a $70 green fee We could’ve played a decent tract. We played slow for the first 3 holes, but that was nothing compared to pulling up to #4. We were the 4th group in line on the tee…….. awful.!! Nuff said about the pace of play. Conditions not too awful, but not kept up too good. Hard pack greens with no bite, as well as firm bunkers. The course layout is a ton of fun. Wish someone would buy it and convert into what it once was.
Not worth the wait
Our round lasted nearly 6 hours. One and sometimes two groups on the tee box when we would arrive there causing large delays between shots. Course was very interesting and isn’t boring. Greens were tough and everything was under watered causing hard conditions. I would play here again if the pace of play was improved or enforced. This was not a course for anyone shooting over 90 and there were too many of those players in the course clogging the flow.
Don’t play here on a weekend
Played here on a Wednesday with some friends and had fun, pace of play was good. My cousin came down from the Bay Area so I decided to book this course again but on a Saturday. What a mistake! Never seen a course get so backed up. The marshals came to our group and nudged us to play faster??? How!?! Want us to hit while the group in front of us still in the fairway we asked??? Maybe you should have 10-12 min gaps instead of 8. They had 3 different marshals scrambling around and watching the groups like this would magically get the pace going. 5 hours and 40 mins later we finished our round. Also, if you have groups start at the back 9, turn off your sprinkler timers. The group behind us got drenched on the fairway!
So if you play on a weekend, prepare for a slow pace, marshals on every other hole, and bring a poncho if they start you on the back if you book 2pm or later.
Slow Play
I booked the 18 holes of golf during twilight hoping it would play fast, it took 3 1/2 hours to play nine holes.
A challenging course but fun
A lot of undulating fairways, nothing flat at this course. Staff was great and accommodating. Another reviewer was right, beware of the squirrels, especially on hole #12! They are cute as heck, especially the young ones, and that is how they trick you and then steal the food in your golf cart.
Terrible ETHICS, Terrible Pace of Play, Terrible Price for conditions
This past weekend our 4th player contracted Covid. We told him to stay home and rest. The general manager, Kim, was the only person allowed to offer refunds and/or credits. He was not available at the time and was told to call back. For two days, when they said that Kim would be in (he doesn't seem to be in often), he was not available. We were finally able to talk to someone on the phone (in the presence of Kim), and couldn't even talk to him ourselves.
The person that was on the phone seemed to be talking to Kim.
Kim said we need a DOCTOR'S NOTE for a CREDIT to use in the future.
We are in our late 30's. This isn't high school. Among our player group WAS a doctor. We shouldn't have to turn in a DOCTOR'S NOTE! And for CREDIT nonetheless!
Now, for the pace of play.
There are times printed out on our golf carts that signal the time at which you arrive at specific holes. This is so you are able to discern your pace of play. Well, the groups in front of us were playing extremely slowly. It's fine though, the marshal will come around right?
Wrong. He showed up (on a Sunday), at the 16th hole. We started at 7:00am, finished at 12:30pm.
Marshal showed up past 11:00am. What's the point?????
Admittedly, it's partially our fault for believing that Westridge has changed for the better over the years. IT HAS NOT. We went a few years prior with another foursome and one couldn't make it. Well, at that time, they charged us for the fourth player AND put us with a solo player. We vowed never to return to this sheisty course... yet we did. OOPS.
Don't make the same mistake. Seems like they would have rather had my friend with Covid to come, touch, and breathe on everything there.
