the course is good but very bad condition fairway now
need lot water a repair the golf course is to high price the golf fee is not good
white fairway
Fairway was bright white. I thought they had different kind of grasses on fairway. I asked the staff about it. He was little defensive and said there should be disclaimer about drought. Anyway, it was my first experience playing on 100% dried fairway.
I drove 300yds every hole (my average drive is 250). It was fun although we had lots of dust from dried grass. Green was OK and very firm. It was great experience but not to repeat again. I will be more careful to read small fine prints.
Course has not been watered, with exception of the greens, in weeks to months
Course is drying up and turning to dust. No water in weeks to months and this beautiful design is going to seed. What a shame!
No Fairway
Due to lack of water, this course does not have glass on the fairway. I will not recommend to play this course raight now.
Please call them to check the condition before make a booking.
This course needs water
My son and I were so excited to play this course, but where very disappointed with the dirt fairways. I wouldn't waste my money to play there again
Needs water and grass
Needs water as it has no grass. Irrigation problem have distroyed this great course.
still dry and windy day
I knew about the drought but it was a great hot-deal, so decided to try.
Still no rain came, so as dry as before. no grass on fairway but teebox and greens were great.
It was super windy day, not good for golf but second half was ok.
My favorite course, unfortunately now very dry but will definitely come back once winter rain comes.
Great Layout and location, Hurting because no water.
This is a pretty nice track, great layout, awesome views. Big issues is that they are struggling with lack of water. Fariways and rough are dead but fun tight lies to hit off of. Looks really bad but playable. They need golf traffic. I'd say lower green fees until you get past the drought situation they are dealing with.
DRY
Course was so dry you could putt the ball 150 yards. Desperately needs water.
Great layout!
The course is dried out right now but still very playable. they keep the greens and surrounding areas in great shape. would play here all the time but a bit far from home.
The fairways consist of dead grass.
My understanding that their well is almost dry and currently only watering the greens. Greens and bunkers in good condition. Too bad because the course has a great layout/ potential.
Great layout.
This course is situation in a valley so the scenery itself was outstanding. I liked the layout and being out away from the city. The fairways were about the same as all the other open land around there, dead. That being said we still hit well off them. It wasn't like hitting off of dirt, just dead grass. Greens were fantastic as were all the area that surrounded the greens. Tee boxes were in great shape too. I'll be playing this course again.
Decent outing for what I actually paid
Sand traps, T-Box and Greens in pristine condition. Fairways require attention. Water water water!
Best Course in the Santa Barbara Area
This was a great course, terrific greens. I loved the layout.
Scottish Links
If you want a true links experience this is the place for you. The Course lost its water rights so only the greens and tee boxes are watered. The course is very dry, very brown and plays super slick. The course would be a better deal if they drop the green fees. $69 with cart is too rich for the condition of the course. Winds tend to pick up daily at RSM; you'll need to know how to hit knock downs and stingers to score well here. As a single digit player, in a tough condition, I was pleased to shoot 83 from the tips.
Great course suffering water shortage
This is an outstanding course for layout, challenge, and surrounding scenery - just suffering mightily right now due to an apparent water shortage - fairways are burnt crisp and hard as a rock.
They have no water.
Apparently the lack of rain this year has caused them to stop watering everything but the greens. Brown and dead everywhere else. It's a great track otherwise. At least the greens are in great shape.
A good challenge in a beautiful setting.
My wife and I played here on August 2nd this year and had a really fun challenge from the tips.
I can recommend this course to anyone. Just pick the tee box you are comfortable to play from and enjoy.
The wildlife is a treat.

Dried up!
Sadly, the fairways on this course, which is one of the finest in California, are bone dry and brown. It is such a shame. Their water well is dried up in this drought season. They are drilling another well and currently the only thing they water is the tee boxes and greens. With the fairways so brown it is hard to tell where they end and the rough begins.
They need the money and obviously play is weak. I would support them just because I would like to see it back to its original splender.
Caution when you book with Golf Now. Call the course before you book and ask questions. We were completely surprised but it was my own fault.
