As shorter courses go, you can find terrific Santa Paula golf deals at Mountain View Golf Course of Ventura County in Central California. Santa Paula has been proclaimed "Citrus Capital of the World" due to it's mass production of lemons and oranges. This quaint little course provides golfers of all levels with an exciting and enjoyable golfing experience.

The course was designed by Anthony Pawlak and was opened in 1968. The 18 hole course is carded as a par 70, covering 5,646 yards from the back tees. The Mountain View Golf Course has a course rating of 65 with a slope of 112. Though surrounded by several mountain ranges, the course is fairly flat. There are several water hazards and well placed sand traps. The greens are exceptional. The course does play particularly difficult, but it does offer a wonderful place to enjoy golf.

When looking for Santa Paula tee times, you should consider making reservations for Mountain View Golf Course tee times and take advantage of playing a good course at a affordable rate. Amenities includes a putting green, club and cart rentals, and bar/grill.

Golfers seem unanimous is their assessments. This is a truly terrific course and great a great value for the money. The greens are great for a public course and the overall course is very well maintained.

Walked

Mountain View

Walked the Blues (66.2/115/5607) with SByrd71 in 4H, 20M on a hot, windy Friday afternoon for $12. First time I ever played this shorter, quirky layout. Par 70, two par 5's, four par 3's and twelve par 4's.

Some of the tees are in bizarre places compared to the green you just putted out on. I felt like I needed to stop and ask directions on a few holes. They had a couple of parallel holes playing in the same direction, so after you putted out on one short par 4, you basically walked back to the tee you just played, make a left, and then played the next short par 4 back in the same direction you just played the last hole.

Aside from that, it's a fun layout. You play five straight par 4's on the back that are between 283 & 338 yards, some that you can shoot at, some that you have to work the ball. To those that know (& love or hate) DeBell, this course is a very poor man's DeBell. Not quite as hilly or as tight, but it's a challenging course to walk with some of the tees being at least a couple hundred yards from the last green.

While the layout is fun, the conditions are pretty mediocre.

The tees had decent coverage although several were unlevel.

The fairways were decent, as was the mostly mowed down rough.

I was not in any traps, but they looked to be OK.

The greens were spongy, bumpy and putted medium slow. They held approach shots very well. A few had some bare spots.

This place was busier than I expected. No frills course, but it did look like they had a nice restaurant/bar area. I would rarely play here as a single. However, this would be a good out of the way place to bring the wife or an adult child that rarely plays to get their whacks in on a shorter real course that doesn't have an abundance of trouble.

tight but true

this is a course for the straight shooter, with narrow tree lined fairways, and smaller greens to land your shot, theres very little room for errors. I've played there several times and enjoy the challenge. The terrain is fairly flat with two holes going to water, the par threes are the best to place your shot at the pin. Staff is very friendly, food is excellant, taste and pricing, price per round with cart cant be beat for the traveling golfer.
