About
Sterling Hills Golf Club sprawls across acres of lush countryside surrounded by avocado groves and citrus orchards. The layout winds through the verdant hills between Oxnard and Ventura. The club opened in 1999 as the only public golf course in Ventura County. The layout is player-friendly enough for beginners to still feel comfortable but it also packs a considerable amount of challenges. The versatile layout balances areas of wide-openness with target-style golf. There is contoured mounding along the fairways and some interesting elevation changes. Thanks to the hilly terrain, there is hardly a flat lie to be found. Although Sterling Hills is still relatively young, there are some mature eucalyptus trees throughout. Golfers can warm-up on the driving range, chipping area, or putting green before the game since a bucket of range balls is included with the round.

Very good track
The course has good bones. Its a shame that there is not enough capital to really make it beautiful. Only critism is the sand in traps.......too much on the slopes and not enough on the flat part. The maintenance crew must be more aware of that.
Return to sterling hills
It has been a couple years since I last played here but it was better than I remembered. I got a noon hot deal on GolfNow so only paid $34 for today’s round. Green had been punched a couple weeks ago so rolling really nicely. Fairways and tee boxes were in great condition. High of 70 degrees today. Perfect day for golf.
Scam on the additional charge for cart
I called the phone number for Stealing hills and it goes to a central reservation . I asked them what is the charge for Golf cart per person and I was told $15 per person, When I went to check in the counter person said it is $ !9.50. I told him I was told it is $15 and he was very rude when I showed the booking paper he said oh this is online GolNow booking and shoved the paper on the side and said you were informed by the Stealing hills customer service with wrong info. Buyers be careful with this misguiding charges.
The course is a great shape very nice course great people working there I’d recommend it to everyone
Pace of play
Pace of play was the worst Ive experienced in a long time. On top of that there wasn't a Marshall around to push players to move quicker or talk to the 3 some ahead of us to not play 3 balls each on a hole or take practice putts on every hole after finishing the hole. I dont intend to play there in the near future.
Slowest round ever
Staff was super nice. I would have paid an extra $5 for them to hire a marshal to keep pace of play up. We waited on every tee box and the round was 5 hours 15 minutes. Too long!! Greens were in great shape but fairways were mid.
Well, unfortunately there were two slow groups in front of us. A lot of waiting! The course is great and the staff very nice and helpful, especially Sedric. Will be back again soon.
Great value!
Sterling Hills has come a long way from the days they had terrible customer service and significant water drainage issues. The greens have always been well maintained. The staff are now very friendly and customer oriented. We encountered no issues with fairways closed due to water drainage issues, even after fairly recent significant rainfall. Pace of play was decent for a Friday. With the Golf Pass membership discounts, we got a bargain on the green fees.
