Amazing
This course is in exceptional shape. We got out for the super twilight rate at 4:20 for $35 and got in 18. Greens, fairways, rough, everything was very well kept. Tough but not over the top. Looking forward to playing this course everytime we come up.
Beautiful Tough course between the Pines
The course is beautiful. The course is narrow and lined with pine trees. The fairways were in excellent condition, the bunkers had fluffy sand, and the 1st cut was dense bluegrass. The greens were in great shape but run slowly. Although the course is near the base of the Mammoth mountain ski runs, the course itself has little elevation change. The fairways are narrow and creeks and ponds protect some greens. A fairway wood or long iron is a smart play on many par 4s- so of course, I pulled out my driver and whacked the ball into the woods.
The staff is great.
A bear lives on the ninth hole: his den is in the drainage culvert. No joke.
A great time and the views are spectacular.
unbeleivable alpine golf experience
course was in superb condition and the layout is fantastic. super scenic and tons of fun!!
Best in the Sierra
Sierra Star Golf Course is the magnificent! Perched in the high alpine of Mammoth Lakes, CA at 8,000 feet, it's the highest golf course in California. Ball flight is amazing! Stunning views of the Sierra's complimented by immaculate California sun and low humidity. Challenging at times due to the fairways lined with tall pines on either side; the course loves you to hit it straight! Walkable or carts available. Very friendly and accommodating staff at club house with a festive atmosphere at the Chip Shot bar and cafe. Full service pro-shop with lessons, rentals and demos available. Free practice greens, driving net and chipping greens adjacent to parking lot. Long days enable play from as early as 6am until dark around 8pm. Common to see black bears and other wildlife roaming the grounds. Great food & beverage specials as well as $25 for 5 holes after 5pm, 7 days a week. There is also a 9hole course in town that is very nice. But this course is very good

The majestic atmosphere is the best. It makes up for hitting a drive straight and then the undulating fairways pitch it into the trees. This is a beauty but you have to play it multiple times to know how the course plays.
