Scenic Hills Country Club
About
Unlike many other courses in the state, Scenic Hills Country Club sprawls across a scenic landscape of rolling hills. In addition to the dramatic elevation changes throughout the course, the holes are sharply framed by towering pines that line the fairways. The holes play to generous putting surfaces that provide a variety of hole placements, but its best to play to the middle of the greens since there are strategically placed bunkers guarding all of the greens. Water hazards also come into play on six holes, but they require only minimal forced carries. Scenic Hills C.C. opens with what is arguably its most challenging holes. The par-4 hole plays downhill to a green that is not only protected on both the left and right with bunkers, but there is also a steep-faced bunker that is not visible from the fairway.

"NICE COURSE & A GOOD CHALLENGE" !
" A VERY CALM & RELAXING CHARACTER TO THIS WELL MAINTAINED COURSE " " A Full Service Facility, with a nice Pro-Shop, Bar & dining room, Driving range with Putting Green and a Beautiful Club House ! " DON'T LET THE SCORECARD FULL YA THOUGH" ( with it's Shortish par 5's) etc.. The par 5's are steep elev. change's with side-hill lies and dog-leg twist and turns. The par 3's are well Bunkered with Fast & True greens. The par 4's are the Most Challenging with much the same lay-out & terrain as the 3's & 5's. All in All, " A GOOD CHALLENGE", for ALL LEVELS, with SCENIC VIEWS*, and nice people ! **just hope this AREA gets some NEEDED RAIN SOON**
course has good lay out
I like the course, but there were a lot of temporary greens because they are re-doing them.
Clutch Course for the Price
I found the course to be very open and player-friendly. I'm not sure how this course is rated 73.4/130 it seemed quite easy and relatively short in my opinion, even from the tips where I ended up playing. Definitely an older course with a lot of interesting older homes lining several fairways. I can't even recall a water hazard really coming into play either. Overall, the hot deal for $10 was a steal, the club house looks like it has been recently updated, and the guy in the pro shop was incredibly nice and helpful.
There were quite a few temporary greens on the course when I played (7/24/13), which probably explains the reduced rate. Several holes were also very wet and soggy from the perpetual rain, and my golf cart seemed very slow compared to what I'm used to.
But, it's definitely worth a shot if you're in the area and able to lock in a reduced rate.
Nice fairways. 6 small, awful temporary greens.
The fairways were perfect and rough was very playable. 6 holes had temporary greens that were absolutely awful and we were not warned about them before we actually started playing. Still a beautiful course for a good price.
Good value and fun course....
It's worth the play. Greens were full but on the slow side..... hard to believe that. six temp greens in place as today... work is going to pay off.... go play and enjoy a fine round on a great course
false greens
this course was alright however most of the holes on the back nine have false greens in front of the original greens in the fairway it was pointless to play these holes because you really couldn't putt but the course was very long and challenging I would pay again but only until the greens are fixed
Course undergoing work, but great value
Played as a mixed 4 ball. We knew course was undergoing work. Straight forward course with little difficulty. Fun for all levels. Staff very friendly also.
Greens under repair!
Everything was great and well maintained. The only setback was the number of greens that are under repair. I am sure once those greens are up the course will set up nicely.
Beautiful design
Some major repairs going on, but it didn't matter. Just knowing the course is being maintained is good news. Staff is great.
Good tee to green ...
Greens very "splotchy" and had just been sanded. I assume new grass coming in. However, they were still pretty fast and rolled true. Paid a very cheap rate so it didn't bother me that bad. No one in clubhouse mentioned the condition of the greens (of course).
Challenging and good value for a public track.
I like the way the course sets up. Challenging but fair. It has a good bit of slope which forces one to think a little more about club selection and trajectory.
I have played this course in the past where the greens have been immaculate. Although the greens are relatively fast (9-11) they are bare in spots and grainy and inconsistent over most of the course. I will continue to occasionally play here because of the track layout.
The greens right now on a scale of 1 to 5 are about 2.
Good elevation variations, fast greens, fun course
Course is well maintained. Busy the day w e played but no delays and no one pushing us. Love the hilly environment and fast greens. Greens were hard to adjust to. Very nice club house and restaurant. Excellent experience
Great pace of play
Course was well maintained, pace of play was good and club house provide a very good bar and restaurant.
Slicers Beware!
Great course, but you better be straight! Houses everywhere that closely align the fairways. Course was in great shape, except that the greens had just been aerated. However, staff was quick to provide a discount voucher for later in the summer. Staff was exceptionally friendly, from the clubhouse to the bar area. Great service. Cold water frequently available throughout the course. Very satisfied with the visit to Scenic Hills.
Very nice course, good staff, slow members
Played this course twice on my vacation in Pensacola. Enjoyed the course both times. Decent practice facilities - good chipping/putting green, decent turf on the driving range, but the range balls desperately need to be replaced. Staff was very friendly and accommodating, including giving us a discounted rate on our rounds. The fairways were in very good condition, and the greens played firm and fast. The course is lined by houses, but most of the holes have a built-in widening of the fairway about where your drive would end up to catch the occasional miss to the left or right. You can tell that some of the original bunkering has been filled in, but the greens are still well-guarded by sand, which was in good shape as well.
The only real negative was that the course appears to have a number of "regular" fivesomes, most in their own individual electric carts, during the weekdays. These fivesomes pretty well choke the course, and don't appear to allow others to play through. We ended up skipping holes to get around these golf-cart blockades. We encountered these groups (different golfers) on both of our rounds.
Great Shape...but LIGHTNING GREENS
Fairways are in great shape, though the tee boxes could use a little more work and updating (range markers at the box). The greens are in great shape, but are VERY FAST. Be ready for a challenge to keep the ball on the green. I'll be going back.
The course offers some challenging holes but overall a mid range handicapper would still enjoy this course
I've been playing this course on and off for the last 35 years, there has been periods of time I haven't played for several years. In the last three years I've played this particular course frequently. Rick and his staff had been extremely friendly, but I do noticed a slight deterioration on the maintenance and condition. This course was recently sold to the University of West Florida, hopefully golf course conditions will improve. I will continually use Goff now.com. When I am in Pensacola Scenic Hills will be my first choice.
Great challenge
Greens were in great shape. Bunkers needed a little work...lots of hardpan there,
