TPC Tampa Bay

Nice course, nice layout, some risk / reward opportunities. True Greens. Has a short game practice area.

Staff friendly, pro shop was well done and maintained. Bag drop and pickup staff very friendly.

Downside was primarily that it did not meet my 'expectations' of a TPC caliber course. Being a TPC course, I would have expected better-

Examples:

- Driving range was beat up, crabgrass, and poorly maintained

- Course had plenty of tree foliage (needles, leaves, buds, etc) in the first cut and rough area, looked like it was not blown off in many days.

- Some of the cup holes were beat up / brown around the area (like cup not moved in days).

- Some of the tee areas were beat up.

While a nice course to play, and if in the Tampa area, a good one to play and pick, yet there are better courses, and better maintained, for similar greens fees in the area.

Played Green Tees in gorgeous weather conditions. Fairways, greens and bunkers were very good. Greens were large and undulating, providing challenge with fast and true surfaces. Pace...good, done in 4hrs. Tee boxes (green tees) could use work...keeping my review from 5’s. TPC course should require decent strikes from tee boxes, and TPC Tampa does not shy from this expectation. Stay in fairways!

They had just covered the greens with sand without any notification. Staff was pretentious and thought they were more worthy than then people playing golf here. I was looking to buy four golf shirts but the pro shop closes at 530pm? Knocked on the door as three staff members were still in there but they just looked at me and just continued to talk amongst themselves.

It is a great course . But it is really tough. In the last three years I have shot in the nineties twice and both times were here. Very demanding off tee and if you veer off the fairway you are usually in trouble. Greens roll nice and despite it kicking my butt I will probably try it again.

TPC Tampa is a spectacular course, magnificently maintained, with helpful, professional staff who go out of their way to help make your round memorable. I play many courses in the area, several of which are excellent. But TPC Tampa is my favorite course. You can't speak highly enough of their staff from the Pro Shop to the Cart Attendants to the Maintenance Crew and the Restaurant/Bar Personnel, just a top notch place.

This was my first time playing this course. The weather was VERY cold in the morning. The greens on the course are very challenging. There are lots of subtle breaks, undulations, slopes and ridges that make the greens very challenging. The greens are very large so even when you are on the green, you still have a stiff challenge to get in the hole in two putts. There are also lots of raised greens which adds another challenge. The fairways and rough were dormant, as to be expected in January. Overall, the course is very nicely kept and very nice. The price of $160 was pretty steep for the course. It is not a $160 dollar course. It is around a $100 course, but not a $160 course, especially for the weather being so cold and uncomfortable in the morning as it was the morning I played.

The practice area at the TPC Tampa Bay was great. Nice driving range as well as chipping area, and overall nice practice area.

This has been on my list to play for a while, not only was the course everything I expected - the staff exceeded all expectations with the level of friendliness and professionalism. From checking in to grabbing food after, it was a pleasure and I will always come back here each time I’m in Tampa! Shout out to the starter Mark Nelson, after chatting with him for a bit is when I knew how great this place is. You can tell everyone that works there enjoys it. Thanks again!

I am an eight handicap. I played the white tees and even from there this course was way too difficult for my game. Glad I played it but will not subject my ego to that humiliation again.

Great experience for an average golfer like me. Challenging course but very playable. Greens fast and undulating. Staff was wry friendly. We got paired up with members that you could tell loved their home course. Definitely will play next time we visit Florida

I asked to be paired w someone who knew the course the starter paired me w Will had a a lot fun and benefited from the local knowledge. Extremely good greens even though we caught a little rain for an hour. The chicken salad sandwich was recommended and rightly so!!

A good layout in nice condition. The greens were topdressed but very smooth and fast enough so your putts would roll out properly. The green complexes sit on the earth nicely without looking artificial or tricked up and they have good contours to keep you focused and interested. The course is well bunkered and there's plenty enough water to shape your shots around.

Overall, a nice test of your golf.

Course in great shape, greens fast. Played Saturday afternoon, pace slow 5hrs. Staff reported slow pace was an anomaly.
