TPC Tampa Bay

This course is awesome! Each hole has a little different challenge. I really like the course, but the difference with TPC Tampa Bay is the service. The individuals in the pro shop really seem to care that you have a nice experience. I watched the female instructor, Natalie, give a couple of lessons. I picked up a few tips for free. I will arrange a lesson with her on my next visit. The beverage cart showed up probably 5 times during the round. This was great since it was in the mid 90s. The restaurant was, also, wonderful. Sitting outside, I could see the players have as much trouble with 18 as I did. That was comforting. I strongly recommend the course.

The course was in very nice condition and I would have given a 5 star rating if it weren't for the poor pace of place. We were able to play the first 9 in 1.5hrs. The back nine took over three hours to play.

Also, the rough was so high that if you hit a ball off the fairway the chances of finding your ball were very slim, unless you happened to step on it.

My son and I have played 4 times in last 2 months. Course is going through some changes, that frankly should be reflected in price per round. We have never seen a person with a beverage cart on course.. And at turn it is painfully slow to get a Coke or beer and get back to course . I really like the couse and the layout, I am a 12 handicap and my son is a 5 . And we play at back tees. We love the game and only want to get a little more bang for our buck. We will return.

Pro shop staff was friendly and helpful. Informed us that the greens had just been punched and two fairways were under repair.

The chipping green was very small with weeds and looked like lawn had just been cut for the first time in a while as there were clumps of grass everywhere.

The greens on the course were a mess, rolled okay but we're totally covered in sand and were very soft. My legs and shoes were covered in sand by the end of the round.

The two holes that were under repair were both par 5s and they were an absolute disaster and basically unplayable. The fairways were completely redone and you couldn't hit the ball after your drive. They should have made a temporary tee box and made them both into par 3s.

As for the rest of the course, the layout is very nice and challenging, but fair. Carts all had GPS which was nice. Tee boxes were pretty beat up and fairways were in ok shape. Rough was very deep and thick. Sandtraps were terrible too. One trap would be like hitting on a soft beach, while the next one was hard as a rock.

On hole 8 something popped up on the GPS telling us to call ahead order lunch which we did. On hole 9, the specials popped up on the GPS which would have been great, but we already ordered. When we got there, our food wasn't ready for about 5 minutes due to "technical difficulties" in the kitchen. Not sure what the difficulty could be with a chicken salad sandwich. Sandwich didn't even come with chips or a pickle. Just a sandwich.

Course has a lot of potential but sadly this wasn't a great experience. Many other courses in the area are in much better shape right now.

We saw the TPC for a fair July rate for Tampa (@$60) so we thought we would give it a try. After getting the confirmation we then knew the greens had been aerated, and it that is all the review would be much better. But as it turns out they had only been done a day or 2 before depending on which 9 they did first, but once again the review would be higher if this was all. It turns out the fairways were over seeded (all of them rather aggressively) so your ball would stay in places they normally could not. But once again that is not all on the 7th hole from 150 yards and in to the green was dirt or to be kind ground under repair. And the 14th hold the entire par 5 was ground under repair except for near the cart path (say 5 yards wide) or the last 20 yards before the green. In summary for a 16 hole course I think we paid too much. The one thing I will say they did better than the last time we were here the Bermuda rough just off the fairways was not as deep making it easier to find a golf ball. Our 4 some only lost 4 balls in the Bermuda near the fairways during out 16 holes. And in ever case we all saw where the ball landed, this does not make it fun and slows down pace of play. And had we not passed to groups at the turn our 16 holes would have taken over 4 hours 40 minutes. we did finish in 4:05 not bad for 18 but probably not good for 16. Why do I keep saying 16 it is because after out tee shots on 7 we saw the mess and decided to move on (I believe those in front of us did the same) and we did not even bother to tee off on 14.

I played an early afternoon round, there was very few other players on the course, so I made it around under 3 hours even while taking my time.

The staff was friendly, and made sure I knew about all that the club had to offer, since it was my first visit.

The greens putt true, with reasonable speed. Not fast by any means. But a good speed for the average player. They held very well, forcing you to control low iron spin.

Fairways were excellent, I had a good lie every time.

Fun layout, with decent length providing some challenge.

My only complaint is the bunkers. They were very poor. Compacted as if they hadn't been raked in at least a week. I asked the starter if they have had much rain in the last couple days, he said they got a light rain, but nothing to bother playing conditions. Which tells me they are not focused on bunker play at all.

Don't expect it to blow your mind just because you see the TPC name attached to it but it is a fun course in very good shape. No complaints other than some of the sand traps were not raked.

I have to say this course has teeth. It is a test and you need to bring your A game. Club house staff was great. We went out to the range discovered they don't provide range balls, which for the price there should be pyramids of them. Ranger asked if we were ready and if we wanted to tee off early which we jumped on. 3 holes in we heard the lightning alarm. the largest rain making storm poored for over an hour. The course drained so fast it was amazing. We got back out and had a great round. The course punished us with brutal pin placements, tough tee shots, and greens that make Pinehurst 2 look flat. I can't wait to go back. My only complaint was the service in the bar. Not on the ball. Overall I recommend tpc but if your handicap is a 15 or higher, don't let your ego get in the way. Move up a tee marker.

This great course is a challenge to any player so choose your tees to suite your ability, your approach play will be tested to the max and then your putting skills will be scrutinised, so be warned.

Played TPC on a Monday morning . Great track and friendly staff. Greens fast and challenging. A must if yiu are in the area.

Since the new club house renovation I am majorly hooked on TPC Tampa Bay!

The course has been in the best of shape this year!

The staff is perfection, friendly, knowledgeable, polite, and always on their A Game!

Coming from Atlanta and TPC Sugarloaf I had high expectations and standards, and the Tampa group is keeping up! Well done!

One of the best golf experiences I have had in several years. Course was in perfect condition. Staff was informative, helpful, and very accommodating. First class! Food was excellent and well priced. Golf course was difficult but very fair. Greens were immaculate... Fast... undulating and challenging. Highly recommend!

Decided to play 9 vs 18. 30$ rate, Golf Now, Hot Deals. Very friendly, courteous, and welcoming staff, cart guys, front desk. Hit a few balls in warm up and went out by myself in the afternoon, 3 pm. The fairways were in great shape, bunkers raked, and greens rolled very well. Finished in 1.5 hours and went to clubhouse for beer, again staff was great. Hope to return soon and play back 9.

The course was in excellent condition. The fairways had plenty of grass and very few divot marks, The grass was cut short, so if you hit a ball that rolls out you probably got an additional 20 yds on your shots. The greens were immaculate,, but very challenging. A lot of undulation and very, very fast. Above the hole putts were hard. You can see why this course hosted the Champions Tour. The staff were very friendly.Too many times, I've encountered practice greens to have a different speed than the actual greens. This is one of the few courses where the practice putting green actually matches the greens on the course. Definitely, will come back.

Having played at other TPC locations in the United States ; I thought the condition overall was not up to par with the TPC location. There were areas that were unkept there was sand on every Green as a patch. The bunkers were not attended to. It was all so many places on the course for there was no grass growing at all reminiscent of a failing Golf Course. The staff was awesome nothing less than expected there.

Staff was super friendly, course was in fantastic condition, the layout is superb and challenging.

First of all the greens were great! Beyond that the rest of the course was just average. Being a TPC Course I expect manicured fairway cuts, tightly cut fairways and real rough. Ive played several other TPC Courses and this one does not compare in any way to those.. Add it that it cost $50+ to play 9 holes and its just not a very good deal. It was listed as a Hot Deal on Golf Now, but in reality it was just half price for half the holes. We left and went a mile down the street to Heritage Harbor, paid $23 to play 18 holes and the course was every bit in as good of shape as TPC. If you want the TPC experience, then go play. If you want a good value for the money, then definitely skip this one as it is WAAY over priced for what you get. The club house is very plain and dated, unlike any other TPC Ive played. The service was average. and when it gets hot, the course will be very neglected, as it was when I played it last summer.

Nice layout and the conditions were great as well. Would definitely play here again if I'm in the area.

The course was in great shape fast greens good company. Very much enjoyed the course a must play for all.

Lunch was ok. Thought it was better last time I was there. Service was great but food lacked.

This is run like a private country club. Excellent service, friendly greetings, free practice balls and tees, etc. But the average round is about $120-WAY out of my league. But $20 for 9 holes was just perfect.

I've only played few courses here in Tampa so far, but the fairways were the best I've seen so far, and the greens were right up there. Traps looked good. It didn't play that difficult, but we had a lot of fun. I think I only lost one ball all day.
