The Savannahs Golf Course
About
Challenge the Savannahs. On the windward side of Merritt island lies one of the most unique golf courses on Florida's Space Coast. The 6,450 yard Gordon G. Lewis design winds through majestic hardwood forests, natural wetlands, and scenic lakes to reveal protected, undulated greens. Nine holes are framed by a natural savannah conservation area, bordered by hammocks with a high canopy of trees and coastal flatwoods. Water, in the form of natural wetlands and manmade lakes, comes into play on thirteen holes. The course boasts several unforgettable holes, such as the 525-yard, par 5 Signature 7th, regarded as one of the most challenging holes in Central Florida. This beautifully tight, typically southern course features six sets of tees, making play ideal for beginners and pros. The back tees are demanding even for the best of the best, while our new “Family Tees” are playable by anyone who wants to tee up. Prepare for your round by warming up on our practice facilities that include: unique aqua range, chipping and bunker area, and full-sized practice putting green. Look around during your visit, and you will notice nature's splendor on display. Our preserve features many water birds, birds of prey, reptiles, and low country mammals that make the savannahs their home. The fairways additionally offer a great view of the nearby Cape Canaveral rocket launches. Our southern plantation styled Clubhouse is a great place to start and end your day at The Savannahs. Inside you will find a golf shop, plus a bar and grill with great food and hospitality to match. Or, wander outside to the veranda overlooking the aqua range and golf course to catch the sunset.

First tee on a beautiful Florida winter's day on Merritt Island Photo submitted by sttcapt on 02/13/2017
Fairways and greens were punched and course was being worked on, would not have booked tee time if I knew this before booking..
Just OK
Course was in fairly decent shape but the greens were atrocious. Looked like they hadn’t been cut in a week. Just maintain what you had and it is an absolute steal. But if this is gonna be the new normal for the greens, I definitely won’t be back
Best course in Central and North Brevard.
Cant say enough about the staff. Very professional and friendly. They do a great job from the time you pull up to the bag drop to the time you leave the property. They had a beverage cart circling the entire time. Probably saw her every 5 holes. That's hard to find at any course in Brevard. The course was in good condition. There was a few holes with bad fairways but every green rolled nicely. No doubt would recommend you play this over any other course North of Viera East.
Always good
This is one of the more consistent courses we play at as far as condition, pace of play, and overall experience, it is always worth the 45 minute drive. The crew keeps the course in great shape and the cost vs value is excellent. The pace of play can be slow with no Marshall patrolling the course. I will try to schedule a round when they have a launch at the cape, that would be memorable as this is the closest course to nasa.
Nice course
Savahnnas is a local course that fell out of players course routine. Now the course has been brought back to a great day, except if it rained the day before. Front Nine were cartpath only On the day I visited, but overall, it has been much improved. Glad to see the new leadership is making this course worth trying
Cart path only
I booked a last minute tee time based on the rain that had just passed by Savannahs so the course was wet and of course was cart path only day . I finished the round in 3.5 hrs or so . Ran into a five-some by hole 13 but they actually played pretty fast and was aware that i was behind them so no complaints here. The greens were good ;some had patches of weeds but that didn’t affect my putts . They rolled pretty good for me . Fairways were decent and wet ; some had bare spots but not a lot . Second time playing this course so I knew to manage my shots better (since on most holes there water on both sides ) . Luckily I didn’t hit any bunkers but most were filled with water . Tee boxes, some people would complain because some seem to be sparse of grass . I tee up all my shots so I didn’t mind the lack of grass . Would definitely come back !! Nice friendly staff working there !!
Great conditions
Absolutely great fairways and greens. I play there often, and this is the best condition that it’s ever been. Great difficulty as well… if you can’t hit fairways and greens then you’re in for a ride. One of the things that make it so challenging. Always a super reliable course to go play on your free time.
Thoroughly enjoyed my round. Staff was very friendly, one of the cartgirls topped up the ice in my cooler. Lots of wildlife on the course. Despite the 100 degree heat wave the course was in good condition. Grass was green, etc.
always a pleasure to play Savannahs
everyone at Savannah's gives their all for their customers. they are helpful , accommodating. and very friendly. The course is maintained in excellent shape.
Horrible design-avoid
First time last time. I don’t do this and I’m generally very easy going with golf courses, but this course is dreadful. I’ve played goat track Muni’s that are better. It’s not an issue of the condition, it was decently maintained given the lack of rain, but this course is the worst designed course I’ve ever played. Short, ridiculously narrow with water on both sides, teeny tiny greens, who thinks this is fun!? If you’re under the age of 50, avoid this stinker. It is designed as if they wedged it in around the houses, not built houses around a course. The carts are controlled and if you get off the cart path they lock up. Hole 1 I was just off the fairway to the left, rode cart path and took 90° angle to my ball. The cart beeped I was too close to the water even though I was just off the fairway. After hitting my shot the cart was locked and I had to push it as hard as I could to get it back into fairway to get it to move. Not a great start. I hit an iron or hybrid off the tee every hole because the fairways are less than 30 yards wide and even though it is short, you can’t drive greens because of water everywhere. If you enjoy hitting an 8iron off the tee and a wedge into a tiny little green surrounded by bunkers, enjoy. This course flat out is terrible and I will never play it again.
Super Friendly Great Customer Service
Course is consistently in very good playing condition. All staff in pro shop, Restaurant on on course maintenance are there to take care of all customers..
I have been playing this course since it opened in1994, when there where only about 50 homes built on the course.
I constantly talk with visitors or players that live in the Orlando area and around the U.S. and European Visitors. Their comments are that Savannah's compares as good as any of their better area golf courses.
I really like this golf course
The plus is the workers ..
Went to the range first and was very disappointed .. couldn't find a level area to place the ball or even stand .. everything was an awkward lie or and stance.
If I'd looked at how short the course was, don't think i would've played there. First time.
I'm glad they had the back tees to accommodate. Shoot a 79 .. but don't think I'll be back.
The employees are top notch. Every one of them really cared about how my day went .. the older ones and the younger ones. Afterwards, the heat was killing me .. i was exhausted, and one employee, young guy, asked about me. That felt good.
Pace of play was good, until i came across a single who should've only been on the range... some people shouldn't be on the course, until they can actually hit the ball ... i was spotted by a new homeowner and we chatted for about 20 minutes ... no one was behind me .. i figured i wouldn't see this guy ahead after that long stop ... i get to the next tee and he's in the fairway!! Must've hit 4 balls off the tee!! Then 4 balls off the fairway .. ridiculous!!
The marshall came around and he made the last 4 holes better by pushing him along. I liked that he really cared about my round.
