The Savannahs Golf Course
About
Challenge the Savannahs. On the windward side of Merritt island lies one of the most unique golf courses on Florida's Space Coast. The 6,450 yard Gordon G. Lewis design winds through majestic hardwood forests, natural wetlands, and scenic lakes to reveal protected, undulated greens. Nine holes are framed by a natural savannah conservation area, bordered by hammocks with a high canopy of trees and coastal flatwoods. Water, in the form of natural wetlands and manmade lakes, comes into play on thirteen holes. The course boasts several unforgettable holes, such as the 525-yard, par 5 Signature 7th, regarded as one of the most challenging holes in Central Florida. This beautifully tight, typically southern course features six sets of tees, making play ideal for beginners and pros. The back tees are demanding even for the best of the best, while our new “Family Tees” are playable by anyone who wants to tee up. Prepare for your round by warming up on our practice facilities that include: unique aqua range, chipping and bunker area, and full-sized practice putting green. Look around during your visit, and you will notice nature's splendor on display. Our preserve features many water birds, birds of prey, reptiles, and low country mammals that make the savannahs their home. The fairways additionally offer a great view of the nearby Cape Canaveral rocket launches. Our southern plantation styled Clubhouse is a great place to start and end your day at The Savannahs. Inside you will find a golf shop, plus a bar and grill with great food and hospitality to match. Or, wander outside to the veranda overlooking the aqua range and golf course to catch the sunset.

First tee on a beautiful Florida winter's day on Merritt Island Photo submitted by sttcapt on 02/13/2017
This course has a nice layout
Fairways and greens are in somewhat rough shape. I would not want to play this course for the standard price of $40-$50 that you would have to pay without a discount.
The course played wet, and had some holes really needing work.
The Savannas people are really great and friendly. Accomodating about teeing off, pro shop, and diner were all well done. Cart girl was nice.
The course played very wet in a dry time. plugged and muddy balls were common.
Holes 2-3-and 5 need repair on the right side where the course is hard and no grass. Shots landing 30 yards into the fairway run wildly into the trees on the right. Totally unfair.
One group held things up two groups ahead. 2 holes behind and no ranger to help.
Nice Challenge for Duffers
Great value for the price, lots of water to challenge your drive, course in good shape for a county course, very accommodating staff. Prices at restaurant a tad expensive.
This course has lots of water.
I enjoyed playing this course. I did lose one ball. My playing partner was not so lucky as he lost more than 2 sleeves into water hazards.I like playing fast but was paired with players who weren't very good. This course is not for golfers who are directionally challenged.
This well maintained course has wider fairways or landing areas. The marsh areas and water hazards will effect your play . Play your limitations.
Choose your clubs, use the center of the fairways, have fun & enjoy the surroundings. The 10/15 yard edges of the fairways tend to slope towards out of bounds or water areas.
Play the course conservative and within your limitations. The course is more friendly if you remain in control. For the great gunners that go for it..... the course will start to play real hard and you will loose more than your share of balls.
This is a course you should come back and play. It take 2 or 3 times to settle down and get comfortable. The course is challenging, but once you get adjusted to it...You will enjoy it.
Savannahas Golf winter
The golf course was in good shape. Some of the fairways had bare spots, but they were mostly good. Greens were in great shape and rolled smooth. I booked on MLK day without knowing and it was very slow. I have not played here before but I had heard it plays fast. Staff was friendly, but there was no beverage cart which suprised me on such a busy day. The course requires accurate drives and punishes you for missing the green on wrong side. Lots of tees so you can chose the right yardage for your game.
Nice course to play
Played 18 on Thurs. Jan.17. Windy day, so, seemed to lose more golf balls than I usually do. This course has the water and woods to capture those wind blown strays. The fairways run in and about a subdivision with streams, ponds and woods to enhance view and the game. The fairways were suffering 'bald' spots here and there to cause a few blurps in the roll of the ball. The greens were very nice, but, a little on the slow side. The pace of play was fine and we enjoyed our outing at this course. The pro shop is adequate and they have a nice '19th' hole with good food and fairly priced drinks. 6-7 regular flat screen tvs and 1 very large one to watch the pros play golf while enjoying food, drink and conversation with your group.
Lots of water
Think before grabbing the driver, a tactical course.
Greens were in excellent condition.
Beautiful course, fun to play.
Challenging course with lots of water.
Fairways and greens were in great condition. Some fairways are low and are very sloppy wet. But still fun to play
overall pretty good track
It rained the day before so the course was very wet. (cart path only). The greens were in great shape but a tad slow, most fairways in great shape except for patches of soggy grass areas
Golf Now experience
You web and reservation system was terrific to use.
Only because i received a good price on Golfnow.com
Greens were in great shape and some of the fairways were in good condition. Many of the fairways were mud and it was cart path only even with very minor rain the week prior to play. Local course, not bad for a Sunday afternoon.
Course was not in good condition.
It was extremely wet on the course, and there hadn't been much rain recently. From what I heard from other players, it had been like this for several months. Greens were in fine shape, but there is obviously a drainage issue here.
Challenging course, women friendly!
Totally enjoyed our day on the Savannahs golf course. The price reduction makes it even better. We intend to go back whenever we can get a good deal.
this course is for everyone!
Just minutes away from Kennedy Space Center and situated next to a natural Florida Savannah, golfers experience about 7000 challenging yards winding through a majestic hardwood forest and several scenic creeks..This is a course that requires a local knowledge and very well placed shots. It is not easy to play at all, especially as there is mostly breezy wind and a lot of water on the most holes. The course is frequently shared with a myriad of birds. This beautifully tight, typical southeastern course features four sets of tees, making play ideal for beginners and pros.
Courses fairways need attention. Many bare areas. Green good and very fast.
Ha been told this course was in great shape and the best one in the area. Sadly its condition needs some work. The track is good with lots of water in play. Hope the summer weather was the cause.
Looks easy at the score card, but tricky to play…
This is a course that requires a local knowledge and very well placed shots. To me it is either underestimated as far as the slope rating concerns - maybe because it is not too long from the back tees. But it is not easy to play at all, especially as there is mostly breezy wind and a lot of water on the most holes. Long hitting is not the (only) key – precise play definitely yes. The course is in good condition and greens are good and rather fast. The service is either “easy” but friendly. Overall – an interesting course that may “drive you crazy” – but it is worth to try it.
Really like this course and the location
Staff is great, course is always in good shape. Tough course because there is water on most holes. But the more you play it, the more you like it.
Always a pleasure , . It's a fair,but not an easy day.
I have always liked this County course. Bring some bug repellent.
Eh
The course itself isnt bad. Its setting is very natural and scenic. I just had issues with the staff. They were very disrespectful due to the fact I used golfnow. They treated me like I was a cheap tourist hacker. I made my tee time the night before. The next day I realized I had something to do later that afternoon so I thought I would arrive a little early and hope they could squeeze me out. Which if they couldnt, I completely understood. The course was dead when I got there. I checked in where I was greated rudely. Then when I asked to go out early they refused because I got a specail rate from golfnow. They made me sit in the proshop for an hour while no one was teeing off. Its not like it was a twilight thing either. We're talking 2 in the afternoon. I got all 18 in with time to spare. They were just so unaccommidating and rude that I will never go back.
