Bear Creek Golf Club - West Course
About
Conveniently located adjacent to the DFW Airport, Bear Creek Golf Club serves up two Ted Robinson-designed, 18-hole masterpieces that are known for their stunning topography and outstanding greens. And with both golf courses playing around 6,700 yards from the tips, golfers can hit long irons and fairway woods off the tee to keep it in the fairway, which is mandatory for a good round on these tight courses. Bear Creek's West Course is demanding early, and is significantly more difficult on the front side. However, the back side opens up and allows some room for error, making this the track of choice for the high handicapper. Nos. 6 and 7 stand out on the demanding front. No. 6 requires a blind tee shot and an approach over water, and no. 7 might be the most difficult on the golf course: a 380-yard par 4 that plays into the wind and also involves water. The back side has the signature hole, the scenic 180-yard 17th, which plays along a lake.

Back home
Returned to dfw for first time in 13 years. Had to play some of the familiar courses. East course was in good shape. some of the greens had some bad spots. Didn't get to play the west course. Hope to move back some day. Houston golf is nothing to write home about.
Course Conditions
Course greens were horrible, I would not play this course again until they can be repaired. They should list condition on the website. Very disappointed...
Greens are a mess
Course is in good condition other than the greens. Most are dying or without grass. One green close and temporary green created in fairway. Gonna need a lot of work to bring these back
Pretty Ok
First time out today on the East Course, not too bad for a busy Saturday. Staff was great, good driving range, and small putting green. The course is in good shape except for the greens, almost every hole had beat up greens that you can tell they are working on. Also be ready to pause for a plane flying over head every 15 min, it’s right by the airport. All that aside I actually liked the layout and will be back at least 1 more time to check out the West Course.
Slow day
This course has historically been in great condition. But this round many of the greens had bare spots all over them. Putts bounced all the way to the cup. One hole had the green closed and a temporary green in the fairway. Fairways were in usual great shape. Having played here many times, I have always found staff to be helpful and friendly. Hope they get the greens back to their normal condition.
BC on a Thursday
Bear Creek is my go to for a enjoyable golf course, this particular time the greens were a little rough . Staff is top notch and food is pretty good.
Great course
Fun layout. Great condition. Little bit on the spendy side. Definitely play again.
Sad state of affairs
I lived in DFW for 37 years and played Bear Creek east and west so many times. I have never seen it in this condition. Admittedly it is early spring and the fairways have not sprouted completely but other aspects like tee boxes, bunkers have not been worked on at all. And then there is the greens. Covered with large infestation of Poanna grass which makes them almost unplayable. If there is a next time, I will be calling ahead to get an honest assessment of green conditions. Nice staff and always a good layout but needs a lot of work.
Nice Layout Challenging Course
Played the East course and really liked the character of the course. Elevation changes, doglegs, undulating greens. The conditions were not great, lots of little star weeds on the greens and some tee boxes so hard couldn’t get a tee in. Overall I had a good round played just over 4 hours and only lost a few balls.
Bear Creek East
Course is in good condition and the greens are good. Rate of play was good.
