Bear Creek Golf Club - West Course
About
Conveniently located adjacent to the DFW Airport, Bear Creek Golf Club serves up two Ted Robinson-designed, 18-hole masterpieces that are known for their stunning topography and outstanding greens. And with both golf courses playing around 6,700 yards from the tips, golfers can hit long irons and fairway woods off the tee to keep it in the fairway, which is mandatory for a good round on these tight courses. Bear Creek's West Course is demanding early, and is significantly more difficult on the front side. However, the back side opens up and allows some room for error, making this the track of choice for the high handicapper. Nos. 6 and 7 stand out on the demanding front. No. 6 requires a blind tee shot and an approach over water, and no. 7 might be the most difficult on the golf course: a 380-yard par 4 that plays into the wind and also involves water. The back side has the signature hole, the scenic 180-yard 17th, which plays along a lake.

East course greens are terrible!
Not sure what’s happened, but the greens on East are in terrible shape. The first 9 holes or so were near impossible to putt on. Burnt grass, patches of dirt and sand only, no maintenance by players or groundskeeping crew to fix ball marks on the few greens you could see them on… it was very disappointing to see and made playing a lot less enjoyable. The fact that we were neither warned nor offered a discounted rate because of the conditions is unacceptable. We could’ve played the west course for $6 each and possibly had better conditions.
Terrible greens
Not sure how they can charge $90 for this course. There were at least five greens that were unplayable. Pace of play was awful too.
Greens need some serious love. Worst I’ve seen them in 2 years
Greens in bad shape
A lot of the greens were in pretty bad shape so putting was an extreme challenge
Greens are not in good condition
Greens are in very bad shape on the East side. West course is better
Great course
Great course and condition. Only negative is that some type of scramble going on and the pace of play was brutal. Great value for the money!
Back home
Returned to dfw for first time in 13 years. Had to play some of the familiar courses. East course was in good shape. some of the greens had some bad spots. Didn't get to play the west course. Hope to move back some day. Houston golf is nothing to write home about.
Course Conditions
Course greens were horrible, I would not play this course again until they can be repaired. They should list condition on the website. Very disappointed...
Greens are a mess
Course is in good condition other than the greens. Most are dying or without grass. One green close and temporary green created in fairway. Gonna need a lot of work to bring these back
Pretty Ok
First time out today on the East Course, not too bad for a busy Saturday. Staff was great, good driving range, and small putting green. The course is in good shape except for the greens, almost every hole had beat up greens that you can tell they are working on. Also be ready to pause for a plane flying over head every 15 min, it’s right by the airport. All that aside I actually liked the layout and will be back at least 1 more time to check out the West Course.
Slow day
This course has historically been in great condition. But this round many of the greens had bare spots all over them. Putts bounced all the way to the cup. One hole had the green closed and a temporary green in the fairway. Fairways were in usual great shape. Having played here many times, I have always found staff to be helpful and friendly. Hope they get the greens back to their normal condition.
BC on a Thursday
Bear Creek is my go to for a enjoyable golf course, this particular time the greens were a little rough . Staff is top notch and food is pretty good.
