Bear Creek Golf Club - West Course
About
Conveniently located adjacent to the DFW Airport, Bear Creek Golf Club serves up two Ted Robinson-designed, 18-hole masterpieces that are known for their stunning topography and outstanding greens. And with both golf courses playing around 6,700 yards from the tips, golfers can hit long irons and fairway woods off the tee to keep it in the fairway, which is mandatory for a good round on these tight courses. Bear Creek's West Course is demanding early, and is significantly more difficult on the front side. However, the back side opens up and allows some room for error, making this the track of choice for the high handicapper. Nos. 6 and 7 stand out on the demanding front. No. 6 requires a blind tee shot and an approach over water, and no. 7 might be the most difficult on the golf course: a 380-yard par 4 that plays into the wind and also involves water. The back side has the signature hole, the scenic 180-yard 17th, which plays along a lake.

Great staff, good facilities, questionable layout (East course)
Everything about the facilities and staff are excellent! Very friendly and welcoming, great range, good putting green by the 1st tees, and a nice outdoor grill for a food stop. The course is in good shape, with carpet-like fairways, and mostly decent greens (some were a little dried out). The problem I have is with the layout of the course (East). It's very target-golf oriented, with some really weird choices on some holes (one hole is a straight fairway, that abruptly ends with a hard left turn to a green that's 3 or 4 stories down.... and over water?! And the only way to know this is to have played the course before (or be lucky and get grouped with some nice chaps that have played the course and let you know). There's also some really overly punishing design choices that hurt you even if you make "the right" shot. On the 18th for example, I hit my best drive of the day, piped right down the middle. Upon driving over the hill to find the ball, the fairway abruptly slopes down to the left, which funneled the ball into the tall rough that was also on a hill?!?! So I go from a perfect drive to a ball 6 to 8 inches above my feet in 2" deep rough. A different hole had a similar issue (I don't remember which) where it funneled a great drive down and to the right and into a creek. The only option I could see to prevent this on these holes would've been to not hit driver, but they're near 400 yard holes that day from the blues, so the approach shot would've been blind over a hill and extra long. I do want to try the West course, and I'll give the East course another shot as I loved the friendliness of the staff and the facilities.
I Love This Course
This is one of my favorite! Course was in very good condition. I really like the layout. It feels like a higher end course for sure.
Had first tee time on the course.
Sent out us as a foursome and followed us with a twosome. And of course the twosome kept hitting up on us. They should have sent the twosome out first
Green is dry & rough
It is hard to read it. It is like putting on uneven hard surface. Other than that, course and staffs are great!
Slow Play
Tee times are 5 minutes apart so you can imagine how slow the pace of play is. This is the 2nd time there was a 3+ group holdup on multiple tee boxes. Would be nice if they didn’t space out tee times only 5 minutes apart. No one likes waiting every single shot on every single hole.
Slow play
The conditions of this course is great but they space out tee times every 5 minutes which causes multiple group hold ups on several holes. It took us 5.5 hours to finish a round yesterday because we waited every single shot. Pretty pathetic. Marshall can give whatever excuses for it but it is because the 5 minute tee time spacings. That is just ridiculous.
Thank you for taking to the time reach! We definitely strive to provide a 5 star experience at Bear Creek for every single guest. We apologize we didn't meet that expectation - we would love to know more if you could please give us a call! We do space our tee times at 9 or 10min depending on the day and strive to hit our average pace of 4.5 hours. Thank you for playing and your valuable feedback!
Awesome greens
Driving into Bear Creak always feels like you are entering an upscale club. The greens were in great shape and the patio after the round is a great place to count up your winnings. I'll definitely play here again but $82 on GN is a bit high IMHO but it's definitely a place you want to check off the list of area courses.
Great shape right now!
One of the best shapes a course is in in DFW right now. Great great and fairways.
Good to go
Have played here quite a few times. Enjoy the East course more than West.
The course is really in pretty good shape, both fairways and greens. Have played some other courses around town that are not as good of shape
Here early in June, give it a try.
Love Bear Creek
The west course is fantastic, the east, the last time I played it, wasn't in great shape. But I can say, the west was great!
Course was in good shape. Greens were good. Pace of play on back 9 was slow but overall the course conditions were good. Price is too much for a weekend round.
Nice Course
Bear Creek West
Played a scramble tournament here on the West course. The conditions were great, the layout was fun and challenging. Greens were in top condition.
