Bear Creek Golf Club - West Course
About
Conveniently located adjacent to the DFW Airport, Bear Creek Golf Club serves up two Ted Robinson-designed, 18-hole masterpieces that are known for their stunning topography and outstanding greens. And with both golf courses playing around 6,700 yards from the tips, golfers can hit long irons and fairway woods off the tee to keep it in the fairway, which is mandatory for a good round on these tight courses. Bear Creek's West Course is demanding early, and is significantly more difficult on the front side. However, the back side opens up and allows some room for error, making this the track of choice for the high handicapper. Nos. 6 and 7 stand out on the demanding front. No. 6 requires a blind tee shot and an approach over water, and no. 7 might be the most difficult on the golf course: a 380-yard par 4 that plays into the wind and also involves water. The back side has the signature hole, the scenic 180-yard 17th, which plays along a lake.

S L O W
I play my golf at a country club. When there's a tournament I never join in because I cannot play on saturdays. Therefore I pick a public course to play on Sunday. Occasionally I will play Bear Creek. But that's only after I forget how absolutely slow this course is. I have never played this course in less than four and a half hours this particular round was 5 hours and 5 minutes mind boggling and brutal when it's that hot. The course was in good shape but the pace of play was killer. The other super negative of this course are the golf carts they are ancient gas powered carts that are totally unresponsive sometimes backfire and I can walk faster than the cart I was in would go on this particular day. This course is really missing the boat by allowing such pitifully slow play and not updating their cards
Buggy’s are shameful
The Fairways are in pretty good shape, Greens are decent probably 7.5/10
The Carts need addressing though. I played with a Family of 3 with they had 2 carts and I had my own. The Dad’s cart popped the drive belt on the 15th Fairway, luckily he jumped in with me and we left the buggy in the Fairway. Lots of bad tires, bad suspensions, bad brakes, parking brakes that won’t set, engines and clutches are “jerky, this is a Major issue IMO. Lastly, you have to tune out 747’s taking off from the airport which is impossible! It’s also too pricey on weekends for the inconveniences.
My 2 Cents, you did ask…
West
Fairways and greens were in great condition. Clubhouse may or may not have change, so probably best not to use cash. It would be nice if the outdoor kitchen had grilled good or at least hot food, but oh well, it was a nice time.
Extremely slow play
The golf course is in great shape, greens roll very nice and fast. Fairways and tees were in great shape. Cart girls come around a lot. Only bad thing was the extremely slow play.
Average Course
The bad:
Took almost 10 minutes to check in and wasn’t told where East or West course started, wasn’t given a scorecard, wasn’t told where to go for the golf carts. Starter didn’t show up until the group behind me decided to just go up on the 1st tee. Greens were not in the best condition, patchy in some areas. All water on course very gross / moss green and smelly. Tee boxes were torn up for the most part. Golf cart parking brake didn’t work.
The good:
Excellent course layout, decently good food and good price. Has range/chip/putt practice areas.
Over priced, terrible pace of play, no drinkable water, no golf ball washing station, over watered fairways and mud everywhere
$60 for 18 and cart and green fees. The golf car very rarely went forwards after pressing the gas. Often times drifting backwards and suddenly kicking into gear giving you a jolt.
Pace of play was so bad. Scheduled tee times were 5 minutes apart which meant every hole was stacked with people on the green, mid-hole, and tee box.
Everything was muddy. Greens must’ve been punched semi-recently or they have a bad mower.
Saw the golf cart girl twice in 4hr 45 minutes. No water stations or golf ball cleaner stations anywhere on the course.
Wednesday golf
Course is in great shape with the heatwave.we have had over the last few months.
PLZ check my reservation.
At first, I accidentally booked two and canceled one, but the amount of the canceled part was calculated. Please let me know about this by e-mail.
Tough course, pace felt slow
Course is tough but fair. Staff is friendly. Pace was slow with lots of waiting.
Average everything but staff
The staff was great in the bar- at the trailer- on the course- everywhere!
The course is tired and needs some work throughout, but the recent improvements are promising
Bear Creek East
The greens were recently punched so they are still recovering. Finished our round in 4 hours and 30 minutes. Nice course layout with some forced carries and blind second shots. The course was very busy, but not as much as the West course. Both are solid courses but the East course is need of some TLC on the tee boxes and bunkers. Will play here again.
Unexpected Pace
They send people off of 10 creating a bottleneck. I was 6:27 tee time. I wanted to be done in 3 hours. I had no idea that people would be teeing off of 10 mid morning. First 9 - :90 minutes, Back 9 - :140 minutes. Not doing that again.
Slow
Too crowded on the weekends. Way too slow. Waiting on every tee. Miserable in the heat. Also, so much traffic means the areas around the greens have no grass.
