Bear Creek Golf Club - West Course
About
Conveniently located adjacent to the DFW Airport, Bear Creek Golf Club serves up two Ted Robinson-designed, 18-hole masterpieces that are known for their stunning topography and outstanding greens. And with both golf courses playing around 6,700 yards from the tips, golfers can hit long irons and fairway woods off the tee to keep it in the fairway, which is mandatory for a good round on these tight courses. Bear Creek's West Course is demanding early, and is significantly more difficult on the front side. However, the back side opens up and allows some room for error, making this the track of choice for the high handicapper. Nos. 6 and 7 stand out on the demanding front. No. 6 requires a blind tee shot and an approach over water, and no. 7 might be the most difficult on the golf course: a 380-yard par 4 that plays into the wind and also involves water. The back side has the signature hole, the scenic 180-yard 17th, which plays along a lake.

Great course
Played Black Bear West and it was in great shape. Fairways were good, bunkers, and greens played well. The greens rolled a little slow but still were good. Off the tee you have a fair shot. A few blind shots but it made it fun. Looking forward to going back.
Not worth it, as usual
Took a year off from playing this course and not much has changed - top dollar cost for a bottom barrel experience. Course was in terrible shape, with grass patches everywhere. Round took close to 5 hours as is apparently typical of this course. Getting food and a drink at the turn took almost 20 minutes which didn’t help. Pro shop also tried to charge one member of our group even though the round had been prepaid, and gave us a hard time about getting that charge fixed.
Pass!
Fast play on a hot day
The West course was green and in excellent condition. We played fast and were never waiting on other groups. It was a great experience!
Great course and conditions
Played the West course. Did not disappoint. Conditions were really good. Only thing to maybe point out were that the greens were rolling a bit slow. Fairways were great and bunkers played well. Challenging off the tee but open and fair. Can’t wait to get back out and play.
Enjoyalble Course
Bear Creek West...An old Dallas favorite that I finally played on a Golf Now Promo. Nice mix of holes, carried par 3's too. Nice, moderate elevation changes, no many - maybe only one - forced carry. I see improvements going on - new restrooms, some new tee boxes. I'll play it again but after I check out the East.
Never play again
I played both east and west courses.
There are several unusual facts about these courses.
1) There is no course map or yardage information. I asked this time when I checked in. Girls in the pro shop didn't know what that is. so if you play for the first time, you should play blind.
2) Sand Bunker is not in playable condition. I did swing in the bunker, looks perfect, but my 60-degree club didn't dig in an inch. I almost injure my wrist. I had to give up playing the game. In the par 3 hole, I intentionally hit the ball to the bunker near the green, guess what, ball didn't stay in the bunker, instead bounced away from the green.
Beautiful shape
Corse in Beautiful condition after a G jff winter ,well done ⛳
Facelift
Course under construction or it would be 5 stars across. Cart paths getting a major overhaul. Fairways were getting new grass in several areas. Everything is super green and looking fabulous! Greens were smooth and quick! It really is looking pretty awesome except for the construction zones.
