Bear Creek Golf Club - West Course
About
Conveniently located adjacent to the DFW Airport, Bear Creek Golf Club serves up two Ted Robinson-designed, 18-hole masterpieces that are known for their stunning topography and outstanding greens. And with both golf courses playing around 6,700 yards from the tips, golfers can hit long irons and fairway woods off the tee to keep it in the fairway, which is mandatory for a good round on these tight courses. Bear Creek's West Course is demanding early, and is significantly more difficult on the front side. However, the back side opens up and allows some room for error, making this the track of choice for the high handicapper. Nos. 6 and 7 stand out on the demanding front. No. 6 requires a blind tee shot and an approach over water, and no. 7 might be the most difficult on the golf course: a 380-yard par 4 that plays into the wind and also involves water. The back side has the signature hole, the scenic 180-yard 17th, which plays along a lake.

Agonizingly Slow
There is just no excuse for a round to take 4 hours and 50 minutes, especially with each player having their own carts. Did not have a single hole without waiting for a group ahead to tee off. Sometimes 3 groups were on the same tee box. Marshall’s were useless. Would simply tell us that it was going to get better quickly. 5 minutes after he told us that we arrived at the 14th tee box to find two foursomes Waiting to tee off. Painful.
Not far from perfect
Played the East course. Layout was excellent & greens in good shape. Need to play the course a couple times as there are some lay up shots off the tee on a few holes that can bite you if you misclub. Biggest issue were the bunkers. They are pretty much unplayable with either rock hard compacted dirt or wet mud. Overall course is a good test. This place is always crowded I heard and it definitely was when I was there!
Nice course
Very nice course, friendly staff and fair price! I like the layout! Challenging but fair!
Golf time without fears
Extremely happy that I was able to play. This course is nice and usually busy. They took the necessary precautions for the “rona” and they allowed golf cart riders (1 person per cart). Pace of play was great. Course is in good shape.
Very nice
Good vibe going from beginning to end Arrived to music and bar tender. Carts for everyone. Tee times on time. Pace of play excellent .
Enjoy
My wife and I went out with no expectations and had a wonderful evening. The course is in very good shape. The greens need a little attention and some of the tee boxes but these guys are so busy! They are one of the few you can ride. Had a great experience. Try it sometime in the evening with the one you Love.
Great Conditions
I played the morning after it rained all night and the course was still fantastic. Tee boxes were green, fairways were in great condition, greens were decent. No complaints here. Paid $35 and it was well worth it.
Good time
This course has it down. 1 cart per person, but you get it 10 minutes before your tee time. There is a monitor @ the carts. Driving range is open. Beer stands & grill behind the clubhouse & beer stand next to the driving range.
Course is in good shape. Greens run true. A lot of blind shots on the course, a couple of hazards that didn’t show up on my Sky Caddie. Luckily, we were paired with regulars who knew the layout.
Course was fully booked, waited almost every shot on the back 9, but not overly so. Beverage cart girls on the course. Pace of play at 4 1/2 hours on a Saturday afternoon.
2 minutes between tee times , Course Overbooked
Group in front of us had a Tee time at 10:14 while ours was for 10:16. Had 5 groups waiting at tee box to start off. Real slow 5 Hour game. Arrived early for driving range and it was a pain having no cart till 15 minutes before tee time and having to carry everything from back of the parking lot . Just expect better experience for $50 round golf. Real Friendly staff and course was in good shape. Straight forward layout with no real interesting or exciting holes. I will skip this course and stick wth my favorite, Indian Creek.
Backed Way Up
Sending 4 somes out every 5-10 minutes. Wouldn’t have finished my round if I teed off at 2:50. Course looked to be in good shape. There was a group on the tee, on the fairway and on the green. Brutal work by the Marshall. Wouldn’t recommend wasting your efforts
East - Covid19 Golf
Firstly, 5 plus stars for being open with carts during this farce. Since it was so, it was also very crowded which hindered pace-of-play. But, we were all thankful to be outside, on the course having a great time.
For the amount of traffic it had, the course was in really good shape, tee boxes, fairways, greens. Sand traps were however unplayable, most were muddy and rocky. (The only demerit I can give the east course)
Pretty course, big trees, nice cart path and bridges
Staff was spot on from check-in to cart girls.
They a great job at the turn providing food and beverages considering the clubhouse was closed....really good burger!
If you play here, play early!
I understand given the current situation its important to take precautions however, given this time of year if your tee time is 4:40 one can expect to get close to 18 in especially if you're paying for 18.
In my opinion this was just a case of herding players through like cattle. The golf course was PACKED! There were a line of carts on both the east and west 1st tees, and dozens of people standing around waiting for their carts. We didn't actually tee off until 5:10 and by the time you get close to where you can just barely still see the ball (8:25ish) we had played 11 holes.
I do recommend playing this golf course as the conditions are great BUT not anytime soon. If you do play here, make sure your tee time is as early as you can make. Anything around or after 4:30 I wish you luck.
My recommendation for Bear Creek is during weekend play, extend the gap between tee times by reducing the amount of times available. People will still pay a little more for a better experience and pace of play.
Pace of play
The course has tee times 4 min apart. During the pandemic they are supposed to be 16 mins apart. We literally had 4 groups on the tee box for the 1st 7 holes. Pace of play is horrible!
overbooked
My partner and I quit the round after 5 holes. It was exactly 2 hours and 5 minutes since we teed off! There were 3 foursomes waiting to tee off on the 6th hole. This wasn't a situation where some idiots that never play golf were stinking up the course. Tee times were WAY overbooked. Our tee time was 3:16 and the two groups in front of us were 3:12 and 3:08. I've never experienced anything like it. Don't blame this on the Covid-19. This was simply poor management and pure greed. Offer it cheap and stack em deep...
