Bear Creek Golf Club - West Course
About
Conveniently located adjacent to the DFW Airport, Bear Creek Golf Club serves up two Ted Robinson-designed, 18-hole masterpieces that are known for their stunning topography and outstanding greens. And with both golf courses playing around 6,700 yards from the tips, golfers can hit long irons and fairway woods off the tee to keep it in the fairway, which is mandatory for a good round on these tight courses. Bear Creek's West Course is demanding early, and is significantly more difficult on the front side. However, the back side opens up and allows some room for error, making this the track of choice for the high handicapper. Nos. 6 and 7 stand out on the demanding front. No. 6 requires a blind tee shot and an approach over water, and no. 7 might be the most difficult on the golf course: a 380-yard par 4 that plays into the wind and also involves water. The back side has the signature hole, the scenic 180-yard 17th, which plays along a lake.

Course needs to heal after construction
The west course was shut down for about 5 months while the city put in a new sewer line for the airport. Holes 10 and 11 had all the trees on the left side of the fairways taken out and now theses two holes play very different. The biggest thing is that the ground and the grass need time to come back. This is in no way the fault of the staff or grounds crew they have done a fantastic job getting it to the point it’s at. The greens were still a little spotty but that should be solved in a few weeks. The putting green is being completely replaced so you have to practice on the chipping green but that’s no big deal. They are also re doing the front of the club house it will look fantastic when they are done
Nice course very playable little storm damage to course due to a thunderstorm that caused some playability overall worth the green fee for sure
Greens are important
Greens were rough. Water them more than the rough. You’re tee boxes need a little leveling work but fairways were great and course set up is great. Water stations were well placed and very helpful.
What a crappy experience
Accidentally booked for the wrong day drove to the course and couldn’t play and then they charged me afterwords for not making my tee time
Give this place a month or two
Greens are struggling, very bumpy, to the point where putts inside 10 feet are unmakeable
One of my favorite layouts but your money’s much better spent on the West course for a little while
Not bad for a sunday
Crowded but not to slow! Pretty good condition for this time of year. Sand traps need real sand in them. All and all a good day at the course. Better than being at work!
3.5 hrs to play 9 holes
3.5 hrs to play 9 holes there were 4 groups backed up on every tee box, paid for 18 holes and left after 9. course was in good shape but the pace of play was brutal
Not in good shape
Course is not in best shape, greens are bald and bumpy , fairways are hard tee boxes are ok. Pace of play as usual sucks. Need to play this course like 10 times before you know HOW to play it too many blind tee shots and dumb holes you have to hit a 7 iron of the tee so it doesn’t run into a creek just a weird course layout I have never liked it here and the conditions are sub par right now
Great layout
A great layout that has subtle elevation changes and challenging shots. The greens roll better than they look but are very firm. Fairways rolling well but at times a bit firm as well. A very pure golf layout with lots of challenges at every turn! Worth the money if you’re in the area. Learn to leave the driver in the bag if you’re wanting to score well here.
Great shape for winter golf
The course was still drying out from heavy rains earlier in the week and most of the traps were washed out. That part was great because you could pull your ball for free drop; ground under repair. The fair ways and greens were well maintained. Marshall’s and beverage carts made frequent rounds.
Beautiful course
Lots of trees, par 3’s are challenging
Course is well kept,. Played the east course
Greens are well kept...
Would consider this course on a regular basic
Great Course
Beat Creek is a very nice course that requires some good shots to play. I 100% recommend you play this course if you never played it before.
Greatest Course
The course was one of the best I have ever played. I will definitely play it again. The golf cart was terrible. We barely made it through our round.
5 1/2 hr day.
How can you expect to get any repeat business when it's a 5 1/2 hr day. Saturday morning at 9:00 am. The Marshall showed up on hole 18 and was only interested in the tourney ....behind us. The layout is very good. The greens were in very good shape but I'd rather drive an hour, play 18 in 4 hrs and head home.
No thanks on the replay. We'll go somewhere else.
Packed, terrible pace
Two and a half hours to play 7 hours. Two group wait at each tee box. Construction on at least a third of the holes hindering play. We used to play this course a lot. Now over crowded and not worth 80 bucks (two golfers) for a round. Won’t be returning any time soon.
