Bear Creek Golf Club - West Course
About
Conveniently located adjacent to the DFW Airport, Bear Creek Golf Club serves up two Ted Robinson-designed, 18-hole masterpieces that are known for their stunning topography and outstanding greens. And with both golf courses playing around 6,700 yards from the tips, golfers can hit long irons and fairway woods off the tee to keep it in the fairway, which is mandatory for a good round on these tight courses. Bear Creek's West Course is demanding early, and is significantly more difficult on the front side. However, the back side opens up and allows some room for error, making this the track of choice for the high handicapper. Nos. 6 and 7 stand out on the demanding front. No. 6 requires a blind tee shot and an approach over water, and no. 7 might be the most difficult on the golf course: a 380-yard par 4 that plays into the wind and also involves water. The back side has the signature hole, the scenic 180-yard 17th, which plays along a lake.

Better With Your Boys
I played here last week as a single paired with 2 other golfers. I liked the course so much I call both of my sons and had them take off work to play with me and they did! One of them has a time sensitive job so he got a call and missed 2 holes on his laptop fixing some kind of problem somewhere in the world. He said he too had a blast and loved the course. Now when he leaves DFW he will be able to identify a spot he enjoyed with his brother and pop.
Mature course
Course used it be second to none in the private pay line. However it needs a little facelift. Practice area is pretty worn out. Windy day layout of the West course has lots of blind shots. Sand and greens were consistent. If it’s goin be windy play the east course
Try This Course
I like to try different courses and this is one I'll play again with my son. I golf to see the beauty of the course, be outside and have fun. I work on improving my game (need a lot of that) but that is not as important to me compared to the new people I meet and the course. It seems like the more water hazards there are the better I like it and this course did not disappoint.
Your club house restroom and your course restroom are in much need of cleaning and upkeep throughout the day.. Both restrooms were dirty and unstocked with toilet paper. In addition, you need to hire more cart girls.we only saw 1, 1x per 9 holes.
Course itself is in great condition. Greens rolled well. Green-side sand traps had no sand in them. Hitting out of dirt & mud made it extremely difficult to score out of the traps. The main reason for a 2-Star rating on course condition.
Bear Creek West
Good Value and good course. Courses get a lot of traffic but the greens are in good shape. Bunkers and fairways are better on the West course.
Better than expected
Great layout challenging but fair enough to be fun for all skill levels, lots of elevation changes, one of the most interesting courses I’ve played in a long time. Loved it!
Awful
Took 6.5 hrs for two of us play. Terrible course management. 10 minute wait on the #2 tee box right of the bat. Management wants to cram as many players in one day as possible. Course fairways were awaful.
Never on Saturday
I knew we were in trouble when I drove up and I had to park in the back 40.. it was my first time there and probably last. Just too many other courses that are nicer for the money. If you like 2.5-3 hr for 9 holes this is the place. Not sure how much time is supposed to be allowed between flights but we were waiting 2 deep on every hole.
Condition not as good as West course.
Traps need immediate sand. Presently hard clay-like with seaside pebbles everywhere.
Windy after a rainstorm
Course held up well except for bunkers. Bunkers, bunkers bunkers, very good course. But there is a big problem in my opinion. Progress on the west but the east beaches needs more than just sand.
Nice day
We got stuck behind tournament, greens were slow and bumpy on West. We played next 9 on East. Greens bad bunkers worse
Tough weather day, wet and windy
A challenge from the start. with the ball rolling without interference in the fairway it is inevitable that you roll into a bunker and at the east course that is a problem. The "jaws" bunkers are vert difficult and in the wind and rain a huge challenge. most greens were nice fast as glass but that cannot be helped.
pretty good shape . you do need to put some sand int he bunkers and the amount you need will take a boat load from Egypt.
