Bear Creek Golf Club - West Course
About
Conveniently located adjacent to the DFW Airport, Bear Creek Golf Club serves up two Ted Robinson-designed, 18-hole masterpieces that are known for their stunning topography and outstanding greens. And with both golf courses playing around 6,700 yards from the tips, golfers can hit long irons and fairway woods off the tee to keep it in the fairway, which is mandatory for a good round on these tight courses. Bear Creek's West Course is demanding early, and is significantly more difficult on the front side. However, the back side opens up and allows some room for error, making this the track of choice for the high handicapper. Nos. 6 and 7 stand out on the demanding front. No. 6 requires a blind tee shot and an approach over water, and no. 7 might be the most difficult on the golf course: a 380-yard par 4 that plays into the wind and also involves water. The back side has the signature hole, the scenic 180-yard 17th, which plays along a lake.

Nice day
We got stuck behind tournament, greens were slow and bumpy on West. We played next 9 on East. Greens bad bunkers worse
Tough weather day, wet and windy
A challenge from the start. with the ball rolling without interference in the fairway it is inevitable that you roll into a bunker and at the east course that is a problem. The "jaws" bunkers are vert difficult and in the wind and rain a huge challenge. most greens were nice fast as glass but that cannot be helped.
pretty good shape . you do need to put some sand int he bunkers and the amount you need will take a boat load from Egypt.
A must play...
This is a must play course. I will play again. Moves to the top of exceptional courses.
1st time playing the course, had been hesitant because I had read negative reviews over the last few years. I can't speak to the past, but I thoroughly enjoyed every part of the experience. Beautiful course, great time. Will be back soon.
For this time of year in January, the course is in excellent shape...
Six man groups suck!
The course was in great shape for late January but the problem with this course is that they continue to allow groups of 5 and 6 people to play together. It slows down groups behind them and the marshal wont or refuses to break them up.
Pluses and Minuses
Course and greens in great shape. But running behind 20 min. for our tee time and slow pace of play — 5 hour round.
Enjoyable round of golf
Found the course to be challenging and in excellent condition.
Cold day but really enjoyed the day
First time playing course. 38 degrees when I started at 9:20 am but warmed up to 47. Was suppose to be in a foursome but course was not busy so they let me go by myself. Course in good condition and greens very nice. Some greens faster than others. Fairways were wider than I thought they would be. I definitely liked that. Several blindspots especially since I did not know the course. Hit a perfect 260 yard drive only to find our the fairway slopes big-time to the right and my ball ended 2 inches in the pond. Love the course and will definitely be back !
Overall good course
The greens were in great shape. However, some of the bunkers were in poor shape.
A wonderful design
Its nice to be able to hit some full shots to warm up. The driving range faces east so hitting into a blinding sun was no fun. No grass available for irons which was disappointing, woods only. the range "mat" is similar to concrete, needs to be replaced with a more professional material. BUT....this course is such a beautiful layout with superb fairways, sand in the bunkers was impressive as well. The greens were exceptional in every respect. An imaginative course to return to very soon and friendly staff as well.
Great course
I have played here many times now and really enjoy the course and the layout. Not extremely hard and long enough fairways for an average player to be able to keep their ball in play. Just an all around fun course
First time and winter rules
East course was played and busy but the pace was good. The only criticism is no mapping of the holes were provided and nothing on the tee boxes. We played blind with no clue of the layout. Still enjoyed and will come back.
