Bear Creek Golf Club - East Course

About
Bear Creek Golf Club's East Course is considered a tad more difficult than the West, with tighter fairways and smaller greens. Fourteen of 18 holes dogleg, so its label as a target course is accurate. Elevation changes make club selection a challenge, and the par 5s are tough to reach in two. No. 5 stands out on the front: a 385-yarder that doglegs left and involves an approach over water. No. 8 is longer (418 yards) and features water in the fairway landing area and along the right side. On the back, no. 15 is the signature, playing 432 yards and tricky because of the blind approach shot.

Fair conditions
Overall conditions were ok, some very high rough off the fairways
Greens were fair after airation
Great
This was my first time playing Bear Creek. Great course and as a beginner it was a good experience
Bear Creek
Great course, charge a little too much for the round, but overall a great day, greens need some work.
Great course and fun layout
Bear Creek West Was a great layout. it had some Fairways that were tight but that made it fun. if you don’t mind the noise of the airplanes flying by which I didn’t, that was pretty cool. The play was great. On a Monday morning was playing the course because we were visiting from out of town and I would definitely recommend it.. some green tag rough patches on them but overall, they rolled really well.
Poor green condition and fairway maintenance
Was $70 to play. About 6 greens were so torn up they should have qualified for “green under repair”. Maintenance was mowing and left HUGE amounts of grass across many fairways. Very annoying. Mowers would often not stop or move while we hit approach shots.
This course was not worth the money. A $35 course at best. We played the West course.
Great course, friendly staff, 9/10 due to a few bunkers and sand traps needing maintenance
Dallas golf
Bear Creek East is a great course. We liked the layout and will play it again. Fairways are generous, there are several blind shots and the rough was thick. We searched for balls a few feet off the fairway and couldn’t find them which Slows play. Some of the greens were in bad shape. Our cart broke down, called the clubhouse and we had a new cart within minutes. Beverage cart available on front and back. Played in 4:15 with a little waiting and searching for balls in the thick rough.
Not worth the green fees
I’ve played Bear Creek East in the past. This time, the greens were in terrible condition. Many had large, poorly patched repairs and several had diseased/dead areas.
Fairways were fine. The rough was extremely thick and several times it required extensive searching just to find a ball only a few yards off the fairway cut. The GPS on our cart did not work and its position on the steering column directly beneath the steering wheel would have made it difficult to view even if it had been functioning.
This course, in these conditions, certainly doesn’t compare with other DFW options that would be less expensive and in better shape.
