17th hole par 5 Photo submitted by glovesb on 03/09/2015
Recommend this course
Surprisingly, this course was in good shape, even with our drought conditions. Pace of play was great; not over crowded! What makes Boulder Creek CC enjoyable is the beautiful setting!
Fun par 3's
If you like working on your short game and being technical with your irons, then this is the perfect course for you. Out of 18 holes, 11 of them are par 3's!! Easy holes to birdie and the par 4 and 5's are not that long either. Fun little course. $36 any given day and it includes the cart, a drink and even a sandwhich! (upgrade to a beer for only $2) It was extremely warm up there, but plenty of redwoods for coverage. Hit the ball straight and you'll be fine!!! OH YEAAAA the marhsall there was wonderful! He kept coming around with a cooler full of water to help hydrate. Nothing like ice cold water. Saw him more than you would see a cart girl at a regular course. I highly recommend trying this course out!
Short but beautiful and challenging
The staff are very friendly. The course has scenic beauty and is challenging with narrow fairways and many trees as obstacles. Greens were in nice shape. Pace of play was excellent on front 9 until we hit the back 9 where is got backed up a little. Still finished in very reasonable time around 3 hrs.
Cool place
It was nice. Had a 10:40 tee time was a lil late but they were understanding.
Wedding Closed the Front 9!
Title says it all. Saturday afternoon after the long winding roads I made it to the course and struggled to find a place to park because the course was hosting a huge wedding which took place in the middle of the 1st Fairway. Now instead of arranging it so golfers could go around the wedding and start on 2, or play 1 as a short par 3,
they jammed all their golfers onto the back 9. I was allowed to start on 2 because I asked and could get by before the wedding started, but by the time I made the turn, the wedding had still closed the first hole the the back was a traffic jam. I skipped 3 holes on the back and the first hole on the front.
That being said. The holes I played were short but fun. Mostly par 3s some short par 4s and a couple was laughably short par 5s. The yardage on the scorecard is marked from BEHIND the tee boxes.
My favorite par 5 was an astro turf covered deck tee box with a rubber tee. It was 100 yards behind the actual tee markers. I went back there and hit because it forced a quality fade drive through the redwoods to be able to reach the green in two.
Ok the course is funky, but besides that one tee box, in great shape, the greens are soft but challenging with lots of slope.
The fairways are framed by trees forcing you to work the ball.
There is no practice area (that I saw) and if there was food service the wedding was taking those resources. There is a bar.
There probably is not a wedding there everyday and it is a fun campground course.
Not worth going out of your way for (the road to get there is a pain) but if you are in the neighborhood and looking for an unique experience, go have some fun.
Golfing in redwoods inspiring
Enjoyable golf outing. Casual non pretentious experience. Unique setting. Not an elite course but still satisfying. Probably not challenging for low handicapper. Can get toasty in late morning and afternoon in summer & fall. However coastal overcast usually moderates extreme temperatures. Looks like the locals dominate the play. Pickups, jeeps, beemers, occasional Tesla in parking lot under beautiful maples starting seasonal color change. Enjoyable backdrop.
Very fun course
In the redwoods, beautiful and challenging course, great value. Highly recommend.
Great Value
Love the course, love the place. It's not top-shelf, but it's a great value.
Excellent value
We went out in afternoon on a beautiful sunny day. Fairways and greens in good condition. Pace of play was fantastic. we played 18 holes walking the course in less than 3 hours.
Great Course! Very Challenging!
Great course! Would def play here again. Beautiful drive up and town that the location of the course is in. Very narrow! I lost 4 balls!! Haha
I love the views at this course
I've played this course many times. But this time was the first with my boys. It was awesome!!
Not going back
My cart died on the fourth hole and after calling the clubhouse 7 times someone finally answered to drop off a new one. The pace of play was awful as it took 2 hours to get through nine holes. There was a fivesome in front of me that was never addressed. I left at the turn but when I went to the clubhouse to talk to someone, it was closed at 6 pm
Nice day in the woods
Nice little course in the redwoods. I recommend it for a quick round.
Par 65
Par 65 sounds easy? More challenging than it sounds. Narrow fairways and approach shots, you need to be on your game.
Challenging Day
Looking at the score card you might think "this will be an easy day" not the case here. the trees are so narrow i only took my driver out on two holes. if your looking for a tight course this is your place.
l love this place
Love this place, I would pay here every week I could, it had everything to help my game get better, course was soggy today, but thats mother nature fault.
Boulder Creek
The day we played, it was cart path only. The recent wet weather and the huge amount of redwoods has the course in rough condition. I think they have not been able to mow the fairways in a while because the ground is soggy so playing conditions were not ideal. You should not be able to lose a ball in the fairway. I think it is a very good course however. Challenging. Not long but tight with lots of trouble to find if you're not accurate. The greens were in pretty good shape and were fair and consistent for the most part. I can't wait to go back but it will be in summer.
gem in the woods
Fast and friendly, got out about 7:40am no one in front of us and no one pushing from behind. beautiful morning, deer all over ........
Nice
poor course conditions
Many Fairways Were Still Muddy. Longer Fairway Were Not Maintained Well . I Won't Return. Staff Was Nice.
Boulder Creek GC
Boulder Creek was nice a course. The course was still soggy from the previous weeks rain. The greens were in good condition but the fairways were sparse. The back nine is a little longer with some 400 yard "par 5s." It was nice to play up in the forrest rather than one of the local south bay munis.
