Woodbridge Golf Club
About
Woodbridge’s layout doglegs through some interesting terrain, with heavy woodlands, natural wetlands, streams, and meadows making the course scenic and fun. There are 15 doglegs in all, which makes for a tough, long 7,088 yards if you’re playing from the tips.
Woodbridge’s best feature is perfectly conditioned greens that vary in size and force you to think because of the heavy undulations.
One of the most challenging holes on the front nine is No. 5, a 429-yard par 4 that plays uphill through a tight chute of trees. The spectacular green is guarded by a waterfall on the left, bunkers to the right and rear, and a pond in the front.
On the back, No. 16 is one of the nastiest, playing over water that wraps around the green. Overhanging trees get in the way off the tee, forcing you to work the ball if the pin is tucked right or left. Rather than getting fancy, the best play here is to get it on the green and work for the two-putt par.
Getting there : From Dallas, take Hwy. 75 (Central Expressway) north to Hwy. 190 (George Bush Turnpike). Drive east to Hwy. 78, then north for 4 miles. The entrance to the subdivision is on the right, and there are signs to the course inside.

Great place but slow today
Love the course. Really slow day. Don’t think it’s a consistent issue but several twosomes following slow foursomes
A Local Jem Now Almost Completely Ruined
This course use to be my favorite public course in the area. Even at a relatively lower cost, it was a better course than most of the competition in the area. And then the new owners took over in mid-2021 and things have gone downhill very quickly. It’s hard to know where to start with everything that they’ve messed up, but here’s a list of what comes to mind:
-Removed GPS from the carts – This was one of the few public courses with GPS, but now it’s just like all the rest;
-Cut down numerous trees that were part of the beauty and strategy for the hole: Holes 5, 8 and 17 to name a few;
-Removed a number of fairway bunkers on several holes that were part of the hole strategy—now there are just giant glassy depressions leftover instead of leveling the land;
-Pace of play is RIDICULOUSLY slow! I mean like Pecan Hollow 5 ½ hour per round slow. And that’s saying something;
-Raised the rates—Despite the removing of GPS and the removing of so many bunkers, which cost a lot to maintain, they actually RAISED the rates. They didn’t do it as bad as Plantation, Twin Creeks and Buffalo Creek as far as their new ridiculously high rates, but taking measures that cut upkeep costs should result in decreasing rates, not increasing them.
-And then the staff argued with me when I had several of the old range tokens leftover that I previously bought and wanted to exchange since they removed the token machine. They take my money but won't honor the tokens they sold me???
So the obvious guess is that the course was altered so horribly in order to save upkeep costs, and then numerous more tee times were added, both of which are decisions made to increase revenues. It’s a business and that makes sense, except that the way they did it here has seriously damaged the overall experience. My golfing group plays once per week, and Woodbridge was our place at least once or twice a month, but now I’m not sure if I’ll even play it once or twice a year now, and then only if I have no other choice. Hopefully the fools that have screwed up Woodbridge will read enough of these reviews and try to correct some of their horrible errors.
PS: Since a lot of people like me buy multiple range tokens at one time so that we don't have to go to the pro shop every time we go to the range, you should honor those tokens even once you removed the token machine. Firewheel did this and you should too.
Course changes made play worse
I have been playing this course for years, always enjoyed playing there until now. The majority of the sand traps have been removed. The removal of trees, specifically 8 and 17, takes the challenges out of the holes. These are the exact same changes Los Rios did years ago before it eventually closed for good. What a shame to see a great course become a joke.
Neat course, great value
Played twilight golf, course is in great shape! Nice layout, will use most of the clubs in your bag.
Definitely will come back and play again!
Members jump around hole to hole like crazy
Booked a last minute tee time and it looked wide open. During play I was held up on every hole by a different group. Took me a while to figure out that members of the course jump around throughout the course like crazy. I was not able to play the back nine because #10 was backed up by two groups. Went back to play the front nine again and eventually gave up because a family walked onto the course and held up play.
A good value
Reconstruction of pro shop made the amenities not great, BUT staff was great and friendly !!
Greens are in AWESOME shape. Roll true . Bunkers need a lot of work and fairways were well maintained
Good value for the $$
The only negative is pace of play, we had a foursome in front of us that broke up into twosomes which caused major delays.
New ownership
This course used to be great to come out and play. Challenging holes and decent pace of play. Since new ownership it has become an amusement park. Cut down all the good tress that made some of the shorter holes a challenge to play. Pace of play is ridiculous. 4.5-5 hour rounds on a weekday afternoon. Kids camps all over the course in middle of afternoon. New owner trying to maximize profits instead of customer experience. It’s a shame to see a great course become another joke of a municipal.
Should be better
Sand traps are a mess and construction and resodding have the course torn up. But needed it and will be the better for it.
My go-to course
They’ve done a great job improvising since the damage to the clubhouse from the winter storm. I live right down the street but my buddies from elsewhere always prefer this course to courses closer to them.
If you like goofy golf then this course is for you
Just didn’t get it. I am not a fan of courses that have rolling fairways. You are in the middle of the fairway and your penalized with an uneven lie.
The greens roll true but some of them are ridiculous. The undulations are way to extreme for all golfers and I am not even sure some of the pros would approve.
Blind shots left and right. Extreme dog legs.
You would have to play this course a bunch before you would have a game plan from the tee box.
I thought waterview was the better course for the area. By far!!!!
Woodbridge Putting Challenge
Course was good. However I felt we were playing the Masters with the Friday pin placements. According to my foursome, they always leave the holes on a downslope to make the course harder. Personally they could speed up the course with easier pin placement when there is not a tournament.
Otherwise all else went well. Saw the cart girl multiple times, fairways were cut well but if you hit in the rough it was deep. The greens were soft to walk on but did not hold the ball ur even leave ball marks.
All in all - will play again.
Great track
Great track for the money. Clubhouse under renovation but the course is in great condition. Greens were punched about 2 weeks ago.
Not recommended
Terrible rude staff. Porta Pottie bathrooms due to their clubhouse being “repaired” from the winter storms. Water moccasins everywhere in the rough so watch out. Cut down almost all the trees that would’ve made the course much more challenging. Results are that the golf course design is very Mickey Mouse. Greens were good, sand traps were horrible. Overall, no way I’m going back there for another round with so many great tracks in the surrounding area.
Long waits at each hole
We booked a foursome on golf now, when we arrived the course did not have our reservation. They moved us back 10 minutes and said they were squeezing us in ? Umm, we had a reservation for a tee time. The course was backed up and played real slow. This was not a great experience. We were ready to walk off many times. I would not recommend this course under these conditions.
Great Course
Absolutely a great course and it was great to play again. Only issue was that we had to tee off almost a full hour late. The counter guy said there was a slow group in the morning that got them behind? Ok that sounds weird but if that's the case, get a marshal out there to get them moving. They were also out of carts, like barely just enough to have one come back in, wipe it down and then it would go right back out. It was just an odd situation, never seen it before. But the course was great, staff was great, beers were cold, cart girls were beautiful. Can't ask for better.

Exactly my experience. It use to be my favorite public course, now I don't think I'll play it hardly at all unless I can't get in elsewhere.
