Located just minutes from LAX, Rio Hondo Golf Club is conveniently accessible from the South Bay and Orange County. Golf Digest has ranked the course as one of southern California's "Places to Play." The 6,370-yard layout is narrow and challenging, placing a premium on accuracy off the tee. Many locals consider it to be the toughest golf course in the area. The course features tight, tree-lined fairways and subtly contoured greens that are faster than they look. It's not a particularly long layout but the par 3s provide some good length. Golfers will face a variety of challenges throughout, but there is also plenty of scenic respite. Sparkling lakes and cascading waterfalls are scattered across the landscape, coming into play on a few holes as well. In addition to the golf course, there is also a lighted, 30-station driving range at Rio Hondo G.C.

Course good, pace slow
The course is nice right now. There’re water features on a few holes. The tee boxes are torn up, but it didn’t really bother me. The longer holes are a little narrow but I stayed mostly in the fairway. The par 3s are long feom the blue tees. One was like 235.
Pace was super slow. Group ahead and the one ahead of that were foursomes that took forever to take their shots. About 5 and half hrs to finish on a Saturday. But I think that’s about the pace for the LA area so *shrug*
Pace of play
Great Course, they just booked too many teetimes with not enough space in between them. Looks like it’s all about the money. (Most Courses)No Marshall on the course.. People looking for their ball for more than 10 minutes!!!
Good tee time, weak body!
Joined 2 singles, Ruben and Amin, for 18 holes; not bad considering we started at 3pm. The course is nicely cared for. It's a tight course with ponds all around. We had fun.
Always A Fun Round
I've played this a few times. Great playing partners, excellent staff, good condition. Not sure why people play so slow or why they can't fix marks on green. I'm not a great player but I know enough to keep moving. My only complaint is they do not allow Senior County rate except before 7 and after 11am- even though County Card says rates apply before 7am and AFTER 9am on weekdays.
Long course challenging greens
Best course in East LA county in my opinion. Really well maintained and solid overall experience. Will be back soon.
Snail’s pace
Played it on a Saturday and waited on every single tee box. Some par 3’s had 3 groups waiting on the tee. I would not recommend playing here on the weekend u less you are willing to dedicate your whole day.
Consistently Good Condition
Have played this course off and on for many years and I always find it in good condition. This course keeps you honest but is also very enjoyable to play. Staff are real professionals.
Playing with the turttles
This is a nice course but for 236 to 510 we got to hole 8 after waiting over 10 min We got to tee off. Sadly couldn't play any more due to I had to be at work in 30 min. I've never played a course so slow. No marshals once twilight hits and ya charge the price I paid for strawberry farm, black gold and oak query. Not the same caliber
